That’s golden, it’s like low gear in a normal transmission, it activates the regen braking at a lower scale so it’s constantly charging/slowing down the car without ever hitting the brake.

I almost wish they had an actual handbrake because I know what B gear does, but I always forget to use it 🤣 and I know the Prius can't accidentally reverse while driving, but I still feel sketchy about that xD
The Auris Hybrid has a manual handbrake and you can reverse it until about 5km/h in D
And it's an easy way to ruin the transmission.

@@Sam-vw2be yes i used to "downshift" my 1st prius (2005) onto "fast corners" every day and then after a couple of years it started to make noise. Luckily not many fools like me ruining transmissions, the used parts market made them very cheap to aquire. I think i paid under $300 shipped off eBay. It's been a long while so i don't remember the exact number.

i absolutely love this generation Prius. Looks just as amazing as supercars without the downside of bad fuel economy and repair costs. Honda really nailed it with this model

Awesome build! I was rather surprised he did all that other stuff but left the drivetrain totally stock, didn't engine swap it or something. Still awesome build. My opinion is that he should have omitted the stickers and used wheels that look at least stock-ish, so it would be more of a sleeper. I've had an idea for a while of putting a Prius body, preferably a 2nd generation as those are the most "jellybean" looking, on a Tesla Model S P100D floor pan. Try to make it look as stock as possible, inside and out - full interior and everything. The only hint that something is amiss is that it's too quiet for a Prius, no gas engine sound. Then when you floor it...

Modifying a Prius is quite an accomplishment. The starter/generator is a combined unit integrated into the CVT transmission and transaxle. There is probably a million lines of code tying everything together. You can't just upgrade piece by piece. Getting it to handle is quite an accomplishment. Especially the electric steering. The start/stop sequence certainly isn't stock. Try to remember what fun it was to drive a Porsche 356 or TR3 with even less horsepower. A stock Prius will go 100 mph, much faster than you want to toss it into a tight corner. You don't really develop your driving skill until you run out of horsepower and still keep getting faster.
At about 8:40 he speaks about not having the driver show his face because of fear that the cops will know who he is, haha while he is explaining this the license plate of the car is in clear view.... Comedy. Pure comedy.

For those wanting to save 12 minutes, it's a stock Prius with tires, brakes, and suspension upgrades.
You won't hate a Prius when it's the only car that never breaks down. I own a Prius and a 99 eclipse gsx 5 speed. Prius is my daily, and the eclipse is the fun car I beat on. I can drive anywhere and have zero worries about the car breaking down
Even at 2850 I'm thinking to myself..... That's heavy as fvck! But then again I'm comparing that to my 1900 lb CRX. Yep, 1900 lbs, 9.5 lb wheels (15x7 RPF1), fully worked suspension, this car is loads of fun.
Try something different for the project car like a muscle car or something. For instance like a 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6. My opinion.

Oh huh, I didn't know that. I always use the other method and don't have any issues. I'm not taking corners at 100+, but I do like to take back roads going quite fast, ( way beyond the speed limit anyway).

Why hasn't the owner installed a suicide knob on the steering wheel like they have on old cars and trucks with manual steering? I know it's illegal in most states but I tried one on my '67 Dodge wagon with power steering years ago and it made driving/sliding on gravel roads while speeding a lot easier to control the car.
