  • Recently I decided to design and 3D print some new wheels for the 1/25 scale Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang I built previously. The car looked great from the start but even better after the new wheels. In this video I showcase the entire process from finding inspiration, to mounting them on the car. Both sets of wheels turned out awesome and I'm excited to share the process with all of you. If you're interesting in printing a set yourself, or ordering already printed wheels, check out the links below.

    Finally was able to finish this video after days of sinus congestion not letting me record a decent sounding voice over. Hope you all enjoyed this video and are having a great weekend. 👍

      Prefer the brass wheels, sexxy!!! Btw, black is actually a perfect base for metallics but I would suggest spray cans (or an airbrush 👍) for the silver and brass. For the brass, spray a silver on the whole wheel, mask it, then finish with a brass color - will make it pop! Much nicer (smoother) results!

      Quick correction. Those 200$ printer are not SLA. They are LCD. My Mars 2 Pro has superb quality and is way faster then your SLA because it's curing whole layer at once and not running the laser to every pixel. Not criticizing just making sure people know they can do this for cheaper than 3.5k :) Anyway, nice work :)

    Both the 5 spoke and... The more than 5 spoke. 😂 To be real though, production levels are off the charts. There's so many good rc car channels out there but imho, Make It RC and KpopRC are in a league all their own. Great work.

    $99 for an anycubic photon zero. Worth it. The only problem is there aren't really replacement parts available. But for $99 for a working machine that has great results there's no excuse anymore. I've been using dyes for clear resin which has saved me even more money. There's never been a better time to get into sla printing.

      Good to hear. I know a number of our Patrons and customers use those printers. Opions seem a little mixed but I've been interested in getting some lower cost SLA/LCD/DLP printers so we'd have the same equipment as many of our customers/Patrons. I've been currently doing this by acquiring some lower cost FDM printers.

    I've been 3D printing for 6 months, learned so much, so much to learn.... Curious why you printed the wheels elevated on supports VS laying flat/on a raft?

    • @MakeItRC
      @MakeItRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! The wheels were printed on a SLA printer which prints the objects upside down. Here's a link with much more info than I can reasonably put in a comment if you're interested in learning more about supports in SLA printing: makezine.com/projects/fine-tune-your-resin-3d-print-supports/

      I've done some wire wheels in the past but they weren't true wire wheels. At this small scale, I'm not sure how well they could be printed unless the wires where thick.
