For sure, me too. To me it's because you have to have genuine automotive passion, an incredible, otherworldly number of master-level skills and a great team (and lots of money, of course) to be able to pull something like this off. This is my dream car manifest, truly. Especially because I used to have a 1 series (2016 F20 M135i LCI) and loved it to bits, I still miss that car dearly and liked it more than my current 3-series (sorry babe). The level of quality and amount of work that has gone in to this build is just incredible. It looks amazing, congrats and respect to the owner and everyone involved in this build.
What an amazing build, taking OEM+ to a whole new level! Thank you Shmee for showing the world this gem, and thank you Saugmotoren for creating such a gem.
This is one of the first videos in awhile that I was engaged for the entire length! Even though this is a one off, I think I found my new dream car and something that will leave me thinking and dreaming for a long time. Thank you for sharing this Tim and I hope you one day have a very special project such as this one!
Insane car ! The only things I would change are the exhaust tips (bigger ones that fill the diffuser the right amount) and the engine (carbon intake and a 4.4l stroker), beside that, just perfect !😍😍
Absolutely amazing project piece. In NA we're already deprived of the 1 series hatches, to see a custom made 1 series hatch M care makes me extremely envious. That is just too awesome.
I’m so used to seeing you driving RHD that it felt weird seeing you on the right side without a wheel in your hands. WHAT. A. BUILD. This is passion, dedication and mostly determination taken to another dimension. Insane, hat off to the guys. Absolute perfection for a powerful hothatch.
Holy cow! 🤯 Amazing that it's all OEM parts and tüv approved! 🙌🏻 Pretty close to my theoretical dream BMW build apart from the engine but that's just a matter of personal preference! Also a tad on the heavy side in my opinion but there was no way around it
This is one of those builds that you can only imagine in your head but never think that it could turn into reality. This one became real, and it's just nuts
These guys at saugmotoren have an insane collection but this bmw 116i project is next level. Nothing else on earth this extreme. Almost all bmw model features on this one car.
This is an absolute gorgeous beast of a project! Just can't beat having a personal one off car! Adore this so much! And that sound... those revs... an absolute delight!!!
I normally hate Frankenstein and swap projects like this. But this one, for the first time i love. Tastefully and logically done, like something BMW should have done. And all IEM parts!!! Love it! Congrats to the builder.
Crazy to see this car on this channel! I found him while looking for inspiration/info about the s65b40 v8 swap into the e81 body, that's my project, also as the 'ultimate' daily, but I'm aware that the fit and finish of this F21 is on another level, I am only doing the e9x mechanical and electronic bits, no crazy interior or body.
Total baddass project, brilliant idea to blend the series together. Very impressive and also impressed with Tim converting kph to mph on the button with precision. Def a car guy!
I own an E81 130i, my goal is to put the v8 into that, along with the rest of the M3 drivetrain and 1m body panels. People say buy an M3, but I just want a V8 hot hatch. This guys gone it, albeit on an F platform. Great job man.
Great name Mark and it’s even stranger that I was about to say pretty much the same. And I wouldn’t hesitate to say that it’s possibly the nicest modified car I’ve ever seen
great sound, that Z4 GT3 on the poster on the wall is one of the best sounding V8's of all time, the racing version of that S65 engine, believe it's called P65B44
What an inspirational car. This is the modern Z3 M coupé!! When Mercedes launched the AMG A Class and Audi with the RS3, this is the beast that BMW should’ve created to eat up its rivals. This is so well built that you can imagine this as a BMW concept car that never got produced! BRAVO!! What next? Imagine an RS3 build with RS6 parts? Hahah
Sometimes the factory doesn't make the car you want them to. If you have the resources to do this then you most certainly should. After all your car is a representation of your personality. I commend the builder of this street beast, and Tim, you should certainly do the same thing with one of the cars you wish the factory had built
absolute brilliant build! I used to own a red 1st gen 118i and back then I allways kinda wished I had the means to convert it into a beast (like in this vid). Happy to see that at least one like minded fella managed to get it done!
I love this. If I had the money, this is the kind of projects I'd love to do... Restomods and Frankenstein one-off cars. Making cars the manufacturer 'should' have made but never did. For example, it's such a shame that BMW partnered with Toyota for the Supra which meant we never got a Z4 M Coupe. The original Z3 M Coupe was such a cool car so it's a crime we'll never get a Z4 equivalent.
The sound gives it away: The E92'2 V8! Bang on job! You Sir, did what BMW did not have the courage to do, as it could canibalize the M3. Much like the E46 M3 took the crown over the E39 M5, and the E92 M3 took the spotlight from the E60 M5. But one could make the argument that the M5, as a bigger and more expensive car, does not have the same customer base. That said, it would be easier for an 1-Series M to take a M3 customer, than a M3 to pull a M5 customer. Prosche does the same to the Cayman, as it never places a bigger engine in it - afraid that the top Cayman spec could take the crown for its 911 halo car.
Yoh.. Namibia approves of this one and the bodywork is truly exceptional. The trim pieces fit perfectly and each and every single addition complements the next and so forth. BMW should consider bringing the hatchback body style back into the full 'M' fraternity. There's a growing market of enthusiast who still prefer a small hatch body to that of the conventional 3-box setup - especially given the fact that the general automotive induastry is moving in the direction of bigger cars and the exotics are skyrocketing to astronomical asking prices. 'M' please listen to us! 🥰💓

Even in the Tuning scene.
