World Mechanics my obd2 will get power in certain positions; at an angle or with slight pressure applied. Will not get power plugged in normally. Vehicle is a 2014 320i xdrive (F30/N20). Will I need to repair the actual port? I’m lost
4 years after your post I fixed a non working OBD port on 06 HD2500 truck. Wondered why only one of the power ports worked. Now I have two power ports that work and I have cleared a couple problems with my OBD reader. Thank you!!!!!!!!
You just saved me hours and hours of aggravation. I my case it was corrosion on the load side of the fuse so the fuse tested good using a voltmeter. When I replaced the fuse, the car started right up. Thank you!
I remember a few months ago, I was trying to get a key fob to work. Had to short out a couple deals on the OBD connection. It did spark a little. I checked the cigarette fuse. Sure enough it was bad. Replaced the fuse, worked like a champ. Many Thanks.

Thanks for this advice guys. For me and my 2009 MK7 Ford Transit, the issue wasn't the Aux or cigar lighter fuses but the interior lamp fuse (#72), labelled as battery saver/OBD II (D'oh!). As soon as I fitted a new fuse, bingo! I am SO relieved, as I thought I'd bought a non-compatible reader.

What about if the OBD port has power and grounds. It also has 60ohms of resistance (terminator resistors for communications). Yet it still will not send any data to scanners. Any idea what you think the issue is?
Having a problem with my Opel Astra G's obd2 port. Tried several different scanners and plug in Bluetooth adapters where you have to download an app to your android phone in which to use the scanner. No joy with any of them. It provides power to whatever device is plugged into the port, but none of the devices I've tried will communicate with the ECU on my car. Always says failed to connect. Any help regarding this issue would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks
@@Laikipian I later found out that expensive obd 2 scanners work on my 03 astra, but still no joy with my own scanners. Seems to differ from year of manufacture. My 03 astra won't comunicate with the scanner, but yet my 04 astra will work with the same cheaper scanners perfectly. They're both the same car, just a years difference. Annoying. If your car is vauxhaull, then you may need to get OP-COM

After 20 years, for the first time I removed a Fuse Box cover and saw an OBD fuse, not in place 7.5 amp it is the first time I even found that Fuse Panel. I believe it is for another model, and everything came as-is from Japan. 2002 Toyota Corolla 1,5 NZR-121 FE. Are the Scanners Lighting up because it has direct power, and the 7.5 amp Fuse is needed is my question? Anyway, I used at least 6 different models OBD ll, same. Thanks for sharing your Video!
I was towing a 38' toy hauler and my trucks conks out. On top of that my obd2 didn't work! Your vid was the first one I checked and the blown cigarette lighter was the the problem! I got the codes pulled right away and it saved the day. Thanks for saving me a big headache.
MY OBD2 port has no signal . 1998 BMW 540i. Checked fuses and they tested good. My round 20 pin OBD connection in the engine bay works just fine. I had one code for evap urge control valve/ fuel tank breather valve. This should have thrown a check engine light but it didn't. I'm guessing because the OBD2 is not working. Any suggestion for the OBD2? I need to get my DMV smog emission test done and they need to connect to OBD2. Thanks.

I'm trying to troubleshoot the OBD connector on a 2009 Saturn Aura. I've checked out fuses in the passenger compartment, the engine compartment, and in the trunk. All seemed okay. I also checked voltage at the pins on the connector and there were 12 volts across a few of the pins. Not sure what to think at this point. Any suggestions?

Thing is, Ive just tried it with a cheap ELM327 off ebay via bluetooth and you wont believe, it works..!! so really dont know why the handheld scanners wont connect yet they work with my Seat Ibiza

Get a Actron CP9680 to further test codes and diagnose. It does graphing, record, live, ABS, SRS, transmission tests, and MORE! It has code-connect to diagnose codes. The CP9690 is for OBDI and OBDII. It has cables for OBDI Ford, G.M., Chrysler, and 2 Toyota. It uses small aa batteries. Get a wall charger cable for a Tom Tom One GPS to review results in your home. EBAY has it. On the live test, if it says 'incomplete', that means you need to drive it some more to complete the test.
I knew that and I checked the fuse. Still not working. Is there anther fuse inside of it or somewhere else? I know I shorted it when I hooked up a can scanner to it and had a loose wire from my db9 to obd2 conector. And the wires touched for a split second. I have a 2020 mercedes sprinter 2500 extended.

I put a jumper(paperclip) between #4 and #8 on the OBD2 on my 03 cadillac seville to program a new key fob, and since mine didn't have an 8 I decided to try #7(dumb move) now my Trunk/fuel door bottons dont work and just realized today that My OBD2 isn't working either. Ive already checked every single fuse and relay and still nothing. Everything else works good so I doubt it if I nessed up the computer. What else can I check. Thanks
I checked my fuses and they're all good and have power going thru. But when I start, it's still hard and if I do manage to start it. It'll have really rough idle and stall out within 30s

So i am thinking it has to be no signal to the ob2 port from the cunbus module!! I cheked cig lighter guse was blowen and changed it w same 20 A fuse but still no signal to the scan tool nd no light on the scan tool ! Nothing !! Any suggestions pls will be appreciated! Can someone out my OBD reader and cig lighter charge port are not working both 20 amp fuses are good I changed them. They are reading power and not blown
@@vladimiralvarez1162 not same problem. I could not read anything on obd2 reader. I check fuse and it was missing. Check ur fuse that powers ur engine diagnostics . If u have recently disconnected ur battery and fixed ur bad cords you would have to drive your about 50 miles so ur computers can check it self internally. Allowing technician to do smog check. Hope I helped . Do u have ur own obd2 scanner?

Ok, this might have solved my problem, like that my obd2 socket isn't working, and watching this video, my AUX socket has no power, I just figured it wasn't a powered socket, but thinking about it, it really should be, in order to read stuff. So I'm going to check this out and I'll update below 🤞

On a 2001 chevy blazer 4.3 i have my scanner powers on and shows options,but fails to download information... i tested this same scanner in my 2001 chevy 1500 and it works perfect...shows live various data etc...any idea why i am having issues? i also have used the phone app torque with blue tooth plug in and it works,but my other scanner has more detailed information so i want to use it instead...thanks again...
steven smith Check the cigarette lighter if the code-tester don't communicate. The element can short. Check with a test light on both terminals of the fuse. Remove the fuse and test with a test light if it lights only on one side. It should. Test for a drain with a test light at the battery clamp and post with the cable disconnected. Get a Actron CP9680 code tester.

Thanks! My front accessory fuse in my 2004 Rendezvous was blown. It was because a penny fell into the cigar lighter socket. OBD reader is working now.

My 2007 is in the shop with the same problem. They want to replace my BCM for $650, and they're not even sure that's the problem.
@@rd7264 Mine ended up being a bad sensor. I replaced the bad sensor and was immediately able to communicate.
@@rd7264 This was the sensor that I replaced 1st. After that, the Scan tool was able to communicate fine.

It's not always the fuse. Sometimes it can be due to a poor connection in the car's internal wiring.

@@vladimiralvarez1162 not same problem. I could not read anything on obd2 reader. I check fuse and it was missing. Check ur fuse that powers ur engine diagnostics . If u have recently disconnected ur battery and fixed ur bad cords you would have to drive your about 50 miles so ur computers can check it self internally. Allowing technician to do smog check. Hope I helped . Do u have ur own obd2 scanner?
Ozzie Martinez thanks for heads up ..I’ll drive it some more hope that works ..no I don’t have one of those but I’ll borrow my brothers and see if it can detect anything ..my engine light has never been on ..it turns on when I turn it in but it disappears when engine is on ..I’ll check my fuses too
@@vladimiralvarez1162 might need a new gas cap. That's something that comes and goes triggering check light

Ok, this might have solved my problem, like that my obd2 socket isn't working, and watching this video, my AUX socket has no power, I just figured it wasn't a powered socket, but thinking about it, it really should be, in order to read stuff.
So I'm going to check this out and I'll update below 🤞

But my interior lights are working though in my 98 civic ex.

The fault Codes That i See Looks like the Dme was changed also i found Cables Rosted like Wetter damaged repareren the Most and changed the ignition coiles sparkplugs etc

On a 2001 chevy blazer 4.3 i have my scanner powers on and shows options,but fails to download information... i tested this same scanner in my 2001 chevy 1500 and it works perfect...shows live various data etc...any idea why i am having issues? i also have used the phone app torque with blue tooth plug in and it works,but my other scanner has more detailed information so i want to use it instead...thanks again...

steven smith Check the cigarette lighter if the code-tester don't communicate. The element can short. Check with a test light on both terminals of the fuse. Remove the fuse and test with a test light if it lights only on one side. It should. Test for a drain with a test light at the battery clamp and post with the cable disconnected. Get a Actron CP9680 code tester.
