  • Today we go for the first flight in our new Beechcraft Bonanza F33a! We got a great deal on this plane, and it is nicely modded with a turbo, tip tanks, garmin avionics, top prop, new paint, etc. Our good friend Owen (@FlyWithOwen) flew it with us to Buckeye where we loaded up on some cheap gas and really got to see it in action first hand. We are super excited to have this new plane in the hangar along side our SR20!

    Great looking Bonanza, I've been working on Beechcraft for nearly 30 yrs, with maintenance you won't have any trouble, some areas are really over built which is good like the wing attach fittings and bolts, just comply with the scheduled inspections, Good luck with a Beautiful airplane!!!❤❤❤ I love Beechcraft!

    Do you have a garmin audio panel? If so, that squeel is probably because you have more than 2 bose headsets plugged in. See if it clears up with just 2 or less. Or, the camera is powered by a power source plugged in to the plane. Try plugging the gopros in to a portable battery.

    LOP question--shouldn't you lean 50 degrees LOP on the last cylinder to reach peak EGT (the richest cylinder)? Leaning on the hottest cylinder or the first one to peak can leave the other cylinders too close to peak. In your example cylinder #4 peaked at 1410 and settled at 1390, so is only running 20 degrees LOP.

    Is Owen by chance a long distance runner ?? He looks very fit and very healthy - he looks like he would be a really good runner - am I correct ?? Or is that just an illusion ?? He OBVIOUSLY is doing somehing right ?? We already know he's a darn good pilot !!

      He is a very bad runner

    • @mustardseedsociety
      @mustardseedsociety 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pauledwards9416 I'm not surprised. Now that I reflect, I've seen people who you thought were fit, were actually pretty pathetic athletically, and occasionally the opposite is true. I once saw a guy in an all comers track meet that had a beer belly, {certainly not a "hillbilly" beer belly, but nevertheless clearly a beer drinker} and at least 30LBS overweight and in the 1 mile run he cranks out a 5:03 mile and this guy was not a kid either - he was late 30's early 40's. So I guess the saying is true, don't judge a book by its cover. Heck even Jakob does NOT look like he's a runner - he's a little top heavy and has "fat" legs but can run the 1 mile in 3:47.

    Owen said something interesting. "you want to climb out nice and shallow in these things". That's also the impression I have gotten of bonanzas, they seem like they struggle to fly at all. What's the deal there? is that why it has earned the nickname doctor killer. that is struggles to fly and if your engine goes out and you try to return it falls out of the sky.

    Do yourself a favor and learn how to operate that engine LOP properly, that peanut trying to teach you was completely wrong. LOP operation is based off the last cylinder reaching peak egt. You were operating the engine at peak egt, highest internal combustion pressure combined with max CHT temp. Not much chance of reaching TBO operating like that. Awesome machine other than that.
