      The problem with that study is that it did NOT disclose whether or not the patients were taking any other meds or supplements WITH the nattokinase. So... that study is not reliable. At all.
      Having said that, there are two ways to look at it.
      1) IF the patients were NOT taking anything else -- then Nattokinase really IS amazing.
      2) IF the patients WERE taking other medications or supplements -- then Nattokinase is STILL amazing ɓecause NONE of the statins and blood thinners prescribed today have shown such remarkable results on their own.
      As for me -- I'm DEFINITELY pro-natto.

    It is just crazy that Doctors do not get nutrition training in Medical schools.
    Every doctor visit should include some nutrition discussion. The majority of the population is over weight or obese leading to high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer. Schools and hospital cafeterias should be leading the way to good health by setting the example of what is a healthy meal and teaching people what to eat and why.. Every person in the hospital for heart disease should have a nutrition class before being checked out from the hospital with follow up education and training in nutrition. Medicare and Medicaid should require patient nutrition education as part of their standard of care. Nutrition information should be run on the hospital TV channel.

    • @AskCurtis

      Medical organizations have fought in the past against more nutrition education during medical school. Sad but true.

      @KJSvitko I've been out of University for a while now, but my Nutrition Professor said her sister taught Medical students at the UCLA Medical School. And she taught a course of Nutrition. It ended up that my course at the undergraduate level was more involved and specific than at the Medical School!
      I also had graduate level "Physiology of Nutrition", which was most informative!

    • @Solarprofessional

      The medical industrial complex doesn't want to learn about healthy eating or natural alternatives to medications. That would ruin their business model.

    • @JamesJohnson-ig6of
      @JamesJohnson-ig6of 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Solarprofessional This is exactly correct. I have a friend who's come up the ladder in Nursing, from a L.P.N. now a Nurse practitioner.
      Where she works at an Assisted living facility, the Dietician is also a lady I know, having a limited education it appears, because, as a vegetarian she likes to incorporate her meatless menus given the chance. This dietician's knowledge of Nutrition is only what she can copy out of a handbook.
      My graduate class of "Physiology of Nutrition" seems to underscore an Assisted living facility's lack of proper training and education in key positions, leading to decreased patient involvement with their dietary needs.

    With regard to animal studies and stroke. Animals' brains are better perfused than is the human brain. Clots leading to ischemia and strokes are short-lived in animals. Rest and steroids (to take down inflammation quickly), even with a severe ischemia, dogs recover quickly. As well, with regard to intravascular plaques, animals don't develop them. Animal studies have limited utility. The best crossover for humans may be with using swine for experimentation.

    Hospitals, doctors offices and schools should be places where good nutrition is taught and provided not places that contribute to disease and obesity. It is crazy the hospitals are feeding people the very food that caused the heart disease, high blood pressure or cancer that they are treating. Every person in the hospital should receive some nutrition education before being released. Every doctor visit should be an opportunity to educate patients about how food choices impacts their health outcomes. The fact that doctors do not get nutrition training as part of their training makes no sense. Medicare and Medicaid should require nutrition education as part of patient care. Focus should be on food choices. Fasting should be investigated as a treatment for disease.

    Nattokinase may also help lower the Von Willebrand factor in blood. The Von Willebrand factor plays a part in blood clotting. The amount an individual has (not counting genetic disorders) is related to blood type. Blood type O has the lowest amount (74.8 U/dL), followed by type A (105.9 U/dL), then type B (116.9 U/dL), and finally type AB (123.3 U/dL). People with type AB blood would therefore seem to have a greater chance of developing blood clots than other blood types.
    A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, North American clinical trial found that not only did nattokinase lower BP, it also decreased the Von Willebrand factor in the females in the group.

    One thing I have noticed, is in research, they give much higher doses of whatever supplement they are testing, than what is recommended on a bottle. One test using Nattokinase used 6000 FUs, while the bottle is 2000 FUs as a daily dosage. So even if these research doses gave positive results, going by the dosage bottle, you might not see any improvement.
    And are these research doses safe to use in the long term? I started using Nattokinase as some claim it will clean arteries, but I have not seen any improvement (I'm generally 135-140 over 80), and wondering if using the 6000 FU dose would be safe to use for a month or so. And in a high dose, do you take it at one time, or 3 doses spread out over the day?

      @@leo1933 Thanks.. I'm probably going to up my dose to 10,000 a day. I was taking the single dose, then upped it to 6000, and not sure I see a difference. Have started taking natto over a month ago, and upped it to 6000 maybe two weeks ago. Not sure how long it take to actually start cleaning the arteries tho.

      @Knife_Collector keep us posted, I've found it here in Australia from the official distributor. I've just started (NK)6000 FU/d so I really don't expect to see much until at least six months later. I am interested to hear others responses and reactions to a 15K/d dose and particularly what they are taking it for.
      I am just looking to clean out a bit and hopefully drop my bp.

    • @Knife_Collector
      @Knife_Collector ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@vf19blue I am slowly increasing my dosage, so as to ease into it. I am up to 8000 FU at the moment and have been taking this since my last post. I will give it another week and up it to 10,000FU. One of my issues, is taking blood pressure readings. Some say you should be able to slide one finger under the cuff, some say two fingers. But is this two fingers with no effort, snug, or even with some resistance? Generally my readings are 130-135 over 78-85, today it was 106/80. And I'm pretty sure that's not right, and has to do with the tightness of the cuff. And as you say, just wanting to clean out the arteries a bit.

    • @ashleyparker1203
      @ashleyparker1203 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What are the results? 2 fingers, but what is really important is the right sized cuff. If you have very skinny arms, you need to order a small cuff. Regular arm, regular cuff. Large or xL arms, large or xL cuff.
      But if you are on 8000fu, I would believe a lower blood pressure.

      Make sure you are monitoring your blood pressure if you are already on blood pressure medicine. I have been taking 10,000 FU (5 capsules) of Doctor's Best Natto-Serra because of swelling in my leg. I took my blood pressure yesterday and it was 98/76 when my normal blood pressure is 135/85. I decided to not take my blood pressure medicine this morning to see whether the NK/Serra maintains a healthy blood pressure for someone who is 77 years old.

    I learned about Nattokinase in 2012 from a Japanese study, which sadly is gone. It was a pdf and typed using an old fashioned typewriter. At the time Health Canada had warnings about using it so it was hard to get. I followed a protocol from a naturopath, which was to take a week (four days) a couple times a year, day 1, one unit, day 2, two units, day 3, three unit and day 4, four units - spread out during the day. Recently I started taking it daily to see if it would reduce a dvt.

    Here's a ChatGPT summary:
    - Nattokinase can degrade or break down fibrin clots, which can be problematic in some people.
    - 2,000 units per day of Nattokinase significantly decreases both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
    - Daily intake of 6,000 units of Nattokinase may manage the progression of atherosclerosis better than statins and improve lipid profiles.
    - In animal studies, Nattokinase improved blood flow to the brain after induced ischemic brain damage by blocking platelet and thrombus formation.
    - Post-surgery, Nattokinase improved venous insufficiency without significant side effects.
    - Nattokinase showed potential benefits for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) when added to the medication Erixtra, though the exact contribution of Nattokinase is unclear.
    - Main message: Nattokinase shows promising benefits for blood pressure, atherosclerosis, stroke, venous insufficiency, and potentially DVT, but further research is needed, especially in humans.

    The concert that showed reduction in AS as measured by cimt had quite diseased carotids as compared to the normal 65yo carotids 1.33 vs .0.77. I doubt 19% reduction in ldlc and assuming same reduction of. 18% apoB was responsible. (120mg/dl to 105mg/dl) foamcell delipidation (reversal of cimt measured soft plaque) os generally considered to iccur with apob(ldlc) < 40mg/dl, mu money os on the hydrolyzation of fibrin binding the soft plaque areas a together. From personal experience (3 yrs at apoB < 40mg/dl and 21% reduction in cimt measured soft,plaque) 30% reduction is HUGE .. but starting with a cohort of 1.33 is really choosing the very worst case. I’ve added 12KFU for 5 months and am excited to see if my soft plaque regression has accelerated [my soft plaque went from 770 (62yo) to 600(65yo plant based (apoB:70, then added + 10mg resu + 10mg eze, apoB:37/ldlc:30). I’m excited to get next cimt scan (I get them every 6mo). I do agree that as a mild anti coagulant NK may well, be worth taking daily at around 6KFU. (Chinese study was at 10400FU)

    I have heard the phrase "blood thinning", but in reality, natto improves the viscosity of the blood, ie, how well the blood cells slide along against each other. Also, natto has an enzyme that works better and faster than the clot buster they would give you at the hospital if you were having a stroke.
