I change my own oil. Flush the brakes. Clean and maintain the chain (on the one bike that has one).. Flush the radiator (on the one with one haha!) Basically all the maintenance. The valves on my KZ440 are adjusted by screws rather than having shims, so they're stupid easy to adjust into spec. Same with timing, and the points. It's not difficult, and knowing how to do your own maintenance really does save you a lot of money in the long run. I'm totes resurrecting your old vids unintentionally. Curiosity sends me down random rabbit holes.
That's cool! Not only will it save you a lot of money, but you won't be clueless if the thing ever craps out while you're out riding! My Grom has screw adjusters for its valves, & I've adjusted those twice, but the rest of my bikes I let the dealership take care of! And that's cool you're finding some of my old vids! ...the first couple hundred were almost all safety related, or had some sort of riding advice!
@@drummerdavemax Whoot for simplistic valve adjustments! Ay is your Grom air cooled? I can't recall if they are or not. Given how small they are, I can't imagine they'd generate a ton of heat. If you don't mind my suggesting another youtuber, DanDanTheFireman is very safety oriented and I think you might enjoy his videos :D You guys have a lot of similar advance when talking about being safe, and ATGATT.
@@lunar-firefly Yea, the Grom is air cooled! And I don't mind the suggestion at all! ...I've watched his vids before & thought the same thing! My suggestion for safety advice videos is the MCrider channel!
I was wondering that very thing,I have a 2014 im getting ready to give its first oil change bikes brand new. Having it on the kick stand seems like better angle to get the most oil out apposed to rear stand.
@@Daniel-qx9nq You're supposed to warm the engine to working temp then allow to cool for 10mins (this circulates the oil to allow the correct amount to remain in the sump). Bike has to be on flat surface and balanced upright. Dipstick does not have to be screwed in.
@@EDcase1 so no lean while draining? Have on the stand the whole time start filling it back up then, put it down and keep it level while checking the dip stick?

That's a good idea! ...next time I change the oil, I'll try that to see how much more I get out of it...
Good vid but should be on the side stand so it leans left to drain properly.
Certainly don't check oil level on the paddock stand.

And then checking it....standing straight up like on my gsxr or on the stand? Guess I'll have to break out the manual

@@Daniel-qx9nq Yes, lean to drain as it helps the flow out and keep level while dipping the stick 😉
Hey dude what did you use to clean the drain plug filters? I’m away to change my oil tonight. Thanks
I blow them out with the air compressor! Makes a mess but gets them clean! Thanks for watching! Peace!
thanks. that's the same one they recommended me.
what type of oil do you use! or you follow manufacture recommendations.
I use the Motorex 10w 50 they say to use!
KTM recommends 10w60 now. The next time you change it i would use that.
What did you use to clean your screens?
I just blow them out with the air compressor.
GotDave? What are you doing to remove the oil before using the compressor

@@Pmason718 I wipe it off with a paper towel, but it usually makes a little mess when I blow it out! Ha!

Right on man! It's an awesome bike! You won't regret getting it!
