Stress. I watch your videos to de-stress. Your calm voice let's all my daily turmoil melt away. The soft music in your background makes me feel like everything is going to be ok. And seeing your clean uncluttered home makes me feel uncluttered on the inside. For a few minutes I can let go. Content like yours keeps me going. It gives me a way to feel grounded, to see the light at the end of the tunnel, to imagine when my world can resemble the peace you portray once more. Thank you for your videos. Thank you for your time. Thank you for giving me an outlet where I can let my stress go. Imagine all the people you'll never know you've helped, all the stress you've washed away. You are amazing.

When my cats were just kittens I started brushing and combing them daily, outside. They waited for my car to pull in when I came home from work and we went directly to the shed, where one cat always jumped up on a workbench where I kept an assortment of brushes. The ritual might last a minute or up to ten minutes. Feeling their soft fur and seeing their smiling kitty faces has always been a source of pleasure and relaxation to me. Same with my spaniel dog when I groom her.

I've recently moved from the crazy life in NYC to the quiet life here in the country surrounded by trees, mountains and little critters. I learned this last years to be ok with not doing anything when I feel I need it. I mean I do only the necessary things(not including house chores) like eating, giving food to my bird and opening the windows for sun and fresh air. But for my anxiety there is only one thing that works truly with me:Reading. It's the only activity that stop the thoughts that stress me and takes me some place away until I can handle the issue.

I think I'm the only person I know that lost weight during Covid. I figured if I'm going to have to isolate, I'll have to get regular exercise. So every morning I walked my neighborhood for at least 45 minutes, watched my diet and talked with friends A lot. I found those two years to be very stressful. I started face massage, cleaned closets, treated myself to occasional wine and flowers. Also, I got to know neighbors during those walks (and their dogs). Things are returning to "normal" but the stresses are still there, especially with war in Ukraine. All we can do is take care of ourselves and each other. Help those we can and keep going. I'm optimistic.

First:thank you for some of the images of Stockholm! I miss it! Second: I hope your mother is healing. Third: I am a therapist and can vouch for all the things you do to feel good and reduce stress. Each one of us is different of course, but the deeper message is that you learn from what doesn't work for you, give yourself breaks and don't try to be someone you are not. So bravo, Benita! I have gone through months of physical therapy for osteoarthritis in my ankle, so my daily walks we curtailed for almost a year. Now, I am back in the saddle... or the walking shoes! Yay! In the meantime, I worked almost daily in my garden even through winter to be outside and be with nature. My garden is thriving and so am I!

Hi Benita. I so look forward to your videos. What helps me the most is have a routine. By this I mean do an much of my daily routine on automatic pilot barring any appointments or other commitments that may get in the way and for the most part, I do keep to my routine. I always thought of myself as a free spirit but as I age, I realize that having a routine keeps me calm and allows for more productive free time. And finally, I stopped drinking (not a big drinker to begin with; just stopped my nightly glass or two of wine) and my sleep is now rock solid. I rarely wake during the night. Not for everyone, I know! Please know that your videos are so appreciated. 🥰

Years ago I was a ski bum and the restaurant dorm where I lived had only one window which was blocked by snow all winter. If nobody woke me up in the morning getting ready for work, I would sleep for 10 hours. This was a revelation to me, to discover that my need for sleep was at least 2 hours longer than most people's. Now, during Covid, I've had the luxury of sleeping without an alarm almost every night. Like you Benita, if I have a rough night, it's such a blessing to know that I can just sleep as late as I need to, and make sure I get enough sleep. I really am useless without it - grumpy, forgetful, horrible to other people.

    • @BenitaLarsson

I always make so time for myself on weekends. I decide to wake up early before my partner does.I make myself a cup of coffee, take a muffin or some sweet bread and lie on my couch getting uptated wth my latest favourite vlogs or TV shows. I just sit there, in silence next to my cat and a blanket in a relaxing ambience with cozy dimmed down lights.
I know I have a lot of things to do at home on weekends, household and work wise, but I reserve this time for me as a way to reset and have some peace of mind. :)

I get up at around 6:30-7am. Unfortunately, it is not safe in my city to walk that early so I do some yoga stretches and push ups, have some oatmeal with fruit and do some writing, check my email, etc. I get out for my walk at around 9:30-10am and, like yourself, walk for about an hour. Gyms are open again, but I've grown used to the outdoors and, for now, this is the route I'm taking. I'm 67 and retired so I can make my schedule my own. My boyfriend has an eBay business and I help him with that or we spend a leisurely day exploring the city and cooking together. Sleep is a challenge; I have to learn to quiet my mind. Thank you so much Benita for your wonderful channel.

I walk for an hour five days a week as well and since I live in the city center I run all my errands on foot. Walking clears the head. Putting makeup on every day makes me feel more energetic. I don’t use much just concealer, BB cream, a little blush, lipstick and eyebrow pencil. Listening to music I’ve downloaded on my phone is a great stress reliever. I have trouble drifting off to sleep because someone new moved in above me and stomps around about half an hour after I’ve gotten into bed. Tried staying up until he’s gone to bed but seems like I drift off on the sofa and then I’m wide awake after my catnap. Hoping he moves out!

Hi Benita, a lovely video that gives an insight into your life. Sometimes it’s just hard to keep ‘all the balls in the air’. I also get too involved in doing too many tasks almost at once - then off course the frustration factor pops up😬 and that’s never good!! I love to listen to audio books at bedtime - they help me to nod off, currently listening to Lady Glenconner.

Benita, this was a great video!
I have a daily yoga practice that starts my day, and my practice varies every day. I try to get a sense of what my body is craving, rather than follow a proscribed yoga flow.
Since working from home, my walking has really suffered, and that's something that I need to work on! Good food and warm baths are also high on my self-care habits list.

I'm similar to you. I love to walk. I get up early and walk to a coffee shop with my book and my sketchpad. I'm getting exercise, coffee, plus time for creativity and reading. 💜

I, too, like to walk in the mornings during the work week. Something about moving and being outside clears my head and usually energizes me for the day! I like to listen to music that matches whatever mood I’m trying to create for that day too. 🎵Then when I get home, I do some basic stretching and then shower. It’s a good start to the day! ☀️

Watching your videos is pretty much the most amount of self care I can get in as well as every once in a while going out for a movie night without the kids. I try to keep cleaning at a minimum by keeping less things and cleaning more often instead of large blocks of chores. We also have a camper so if we just feel like getting out of town, it’s easily and inexpensively done. Beautiful video as always ❤️

I take at least 30 minutes of walking before breakfast every day and also at lunch if I can.Because of back pain from all the sitting at home with Corona, I was told by the doctor to take at least 15,000 steps a day but I'm happy if I get up to 12,000. And now we have a Health Challenge at work where I have added 2-3 sessions at the gym per week. Thank you Benita for your inspiration!

Good morning from Ohio USA. I very much enjoyed your video and your honesty. I feel frustrated when my day doesn’t seem productive so I appreciate you validating all of your viewers that may feel the same way and saying it’s OK to take care of oneself both body and mind. Life never guarantees us an easy journey but how we weather the storms are up to us. You are not alone.
    Have a most beautiful day.

Leave this video. I do also love that artwork above your bed, so beautiful. I too walk 1 1/2 hours a day, even though its been a cold cold winter, but still think it clears one’s mind and is good to be outside in fresh air. Love that Museum to go to for a lunch. So beautiful. Love your white tulips. I only buy white flowers.

I miss my walks to school with my children each day (now teens). I’ve not got a new routine walking what with the lockdowns/home schooling etc of the past 2 years. It’s about time I have a regular walking routine. It’s 17 oC here in uk so we did walk after dinner last night which was lovely. I’ve got a tracker of things I like to do most days including walking. I also have yoga/stretches, arm weights, dancing/movement, meditation, reading, podcasts, journaling and gratitude journal. I’ve been really good at most and like checking off what I do each day.

I also listen to an audiobook when I wake during the night; otherwise , my mind will spin in a dozen directions. I really should start walking in the mornings. I work from home (as chat support🥴) and would benefit from the added movement in my mostly sedentary life. Like always, I enjoyed your video!
