I know this video will cause lots of discussions, and here are my intentions and ideas even before I have arrived. I had exchanged lots of little money to give away while I explored the Pyramids. That was the conclusion I reached after doing my research. I intended to support the people working there, including police, security, hustlers, and cleaners. You have to understand that is how tourist places work in Egypt. Tipping culture is crazy; every kindness and "Where are you from?" means give me some money. So I was ready for it.
Even when you are far from the police behind the pyramids, they would whistle you aggressively to call you closer and then ask where you are from and if you want to climb the pyramid with a few stones. That basically translates into, "Give me some cash."
As with everywhere else in the country, my intentions were good, to help and be nice, but many people tried to take advantage of me, especially fake security at the entrance with the police who showed me his gun as a threat. I managed to capture my whole experience.
I still love Egypt and would love to be back, except for the Pyramids. I also think the historical side of being visited by 15 million people yearly should be better organized. Ancient Egyptians would be ashamed of the current state of the site.
With all the respect and love!
    Davud

Fully agree with you bro. Sad, that the tourism sector there is so mismanaged. Have heard stores about how tourists are fleeced and harassed in Egypt. Sad to see, especially from a people whose civilization was so advanced at one age. I feel this kind of behaviour happens in India as well, and we also should improve our tourism industry by a lot.

The Egyptian Government is losing millions of tourism dollars due to scammers. I have always wanted to visit the pyramids, but sadly, for this very reason, I never will. Who else is losing money, hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops, transportation, stores, airports, etc.

They even scam in the hotels. Hired a car from a 5-star hotel, on the way back, he purposely takes us to a gift shop and then through traffic to run an extra 15 minutes on the clock. When they wanted more, I said I paid for 6 hours... anything extra is between him and the hotel.

Please don’t do that, Davud. By giving money to workers and police officers, it sets an expectation that other foreigners will do the same, and they might start relying on handouts. I have been in this beautiful country with a great history, but I will never return. At a certain moment, my wife had to cry because of the pressure from constant harassment and scams in every city that we visited. Spending per tourist in Egypt could be ten times higher if there were no scammers. After a couple of days, we started to spend less and less money because we didn’t want to be in contact with disrespectful people. Plus, it could be 60 million or more tourists (like Mediterranean countries such as Spain, Greece, Turkey, etc.). But unfortunately this is not the case for Egypt. I told all my friends and people I know who were really interested in visiting Egypt not to go there. They didn't.
It’s absolutely the number one scam country of all the countries I have visited. And believe me, I have been to countries with less wealth and lower living standards. I have been to countries where people have almost nothing, but they were the kindest and really helpful without expecting anything in return. I feel very sorry for the polite and good Egyptian people who also understand the ridiculousness of this disrespectful and dishonest situation. Greetings from Azerbaijan

Egypt is a country of mixed races and ethnicities and they have lived for very long centuries of slavery and it was known about them that the first to wake up from sleep is to occupy it without any resistance from the Egyptians, they are Turks, Circassians, Gypsies, Indians, Bengalis, Romans, Armenians and Greeks, as for the Arabs, they live in the Sinai Peninsula and they do not mix with anyone or marry outside their tribes because they consider themselves to be the purest people in race, blood and lineage. There are Berbers in the Siwa region and they are exactly the same as the Arabs, they do not mix with anyone or marry anyone at all. Their customs, traditions and nature of the Egyptians are closer to the customs and traditions of the Gypsies, Indians and Bengalis, so much so that they are called Indians and Bengalis of Africa 🇪🇬❤️ 🇮🇳 because Britain occupied Egypt for 70 years and the soldiers came from India and Bangladesh and many of them remained in Egypt, as prostitution was permitted in Egypt and they used to have sex and have many children in the street Clot Bey was the king of prostitution at that time. They took a lot of Indian customs, traditions and culture, even some of the foods were originally Indian and not Egyptian, such as koshary
India is very similar to their country and they are very similar to them. In customs and traditions, you feel as if you live in India. Their streets, residential neighborhoods, and transportation by tuk-tuk. They are nicknamed India and Bengal Africa 🇪🇬❤️🇮🇳

Ive seen a few Vlogs of people travel to the Pyramids and around Cairo, as well as a well known TH-cam channel that was using professional camera, sound, presenter and producer having to jump through many hoops to enter Egypt with their camera equipment and obtain written approvals. All the vlogs and that Channel with a pro crew had terrible experiences with the "Officials" bullying them, harrassing them, threatening and wanting money. These experience have made me not want to ever go to see the Pyramids now, maybe one day in my life I will be able to afford to do that trip, but I dont think I could handle such an experience of people acting so badly to tourists. Your treatment at the entry just made me more sure that I won't do the trip there, unless a professional system is put in place there, to ensure Tourists are not treated like you were at the start. I have lived in many poor countries too and this site seems one of the worse in the world for tourists. Thanks for sharing your experience.

That policeman’s actions are utterly disgraceful. As a guardian meant to shield visitors from scammers, robbers, and hustlers. He ironically “robbed” Davud, who had trusted him with money.
All these behaviors are blight on Egypt’s economy. Eventually makes Egypt poorer.
I fervently hope this video goes viral, compelling the Egyptian tourism ministry to address this grave issue.

Unfortunately, Egypt can be challenging for some travellers due to the presence of scammers, which can detract from the overall experience. These issues can leave tourists feeling vulnerable and disillusioned, making it difficult to fully appreciate the country's rich history and beauty. While Egypt offers incredible cultural and historical treasures, a lack of effective regulation in many areas can give the impression of lawlessness, which is an important concern that needs to be addressed.

I have been at the pyramids 2 times - in 2016 and in 2023. Asking for money starts right at the entrance gate. The so called security people there always find something that is not ok with your camera equipment and tell you that you need additional permission but problem can always be fixed with a tip. They pretend that they are doing you a favor. Even after you enter the complex everybody is trying to convince you that you absolutely need to pay for a guide, camel or horse ride and you can't just walk alone which obviously isn't true. I have accepted that this is what it is and can not be changed. Having small bills with egyptian pounds and hiding well your foreign currency helps to allow you to loose less money. One well known scam is someone to allow you to ride a camel for free and ask you to give your phone to take a picture of you. After that they do not allow you to get off the camel and do not give you back your phone unless you pay hefty price. Just be careful, do not give your property to anybody and do not show that you have a lot of money and you will be ok. After all the pyramids are something that i think everybody should try to see.

Hi davud love you from egypt, I understand your experience with the pyramids, and I want to explain that Egypt is going through its worst economic crisis. Many people are just trying to survive, which can lead to behaviors that harm tourism. However, the issue is with the government’s lack of proper management and organization, not the people. If things don’t improve, it could damage Egypt’s image and future tourism.
I’ve watched all your Egypt videos, and I just want to say that what you’ve seen is only a small part of what Egypt has to offer. There’s so much more to discover, with many beautiful and amazing places beyond the pyramids.

I am a fan of yours and follow most of your videos. I do apologize on behalf of all the Egyptians for the idiocy of those crazy thugs who keep harassing our guests. Thank you for choosing to come to Egypt and spending your hard earned money in this country. God bless ♥

All this is not the actual experience you should/could have in Egypt. I'd still say give it a try.

Ten years ago, I visited Egypt. I had such bad experiences with the Taxi Driver and the very guide (from a reputed Egyptian Tour operator) that my Canadian Travel Agent had arranged for us. They all tried to extort money at every opportunity. I am sorry, but Egypt is otherwise a good country with nice people. The tourism department should monitor this to improve its reputation. I would like to visit the Pyramids and the Nile Cruise --- but sadly for these experiences....

This video is amazing! I’ve watched a couple times and still cannot believe the size of these Pyramids and can’t believe they were built4600 years ago by hand. The Pyramids truly are a wonder of humanity. Even with today’s machinery to build such large structures with the same size material can be done but would still cause problems and issues and these were built by hand were told. My brother tells me all the time they were made by aliens cause there would be no way humans could’ve done that. Amazing video, the scammers do get very annoying but if you didn’t have the camera I think they would’ve been more aggressive.
