    Nice cutting!
    I could use a brush Hogg
    Just another attachment on my list along with the rake and grapple 😊
    Thanks for sharing David !

      Hi Phil! Thanks, buddy. To be honest, I so wish I had gotten a flail mower instead. I have just this little bit of field that I use it on, but the fail mower would be really handy cutting new trails. You've definitely got a better use case for a brush hog than I do! Thanks for watching, my friend :)

    Shew it must have been really dry there this summer, dusty!! The grass looked pretty thick and matted down. Enjoyed the video!

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it was! The deer bedded down on every square inch of that part of the land. We let Scotland Yard go wild all summer to see what all would grow there and that grass got to be over 4 foot in that area. I appreciate you watching, Ben!

    Hi David! Great job! Brush hogging is a dusty job when it’s really dry. I hope you managed to stay upwind as much as possible. Looks like you’ll be busy with that rake for a while! Thanks for sharing!

      Hi Martin! It was difficult staying out of the dust clouds for sure! The raking saga will be on full display in the next video. Thanks for watching, my friend!!

    Morning David 😁looks dry out there. I like the idea of the Willow tree. Looks like a perfect spot. We need rain over here too. Thanks for the video.🚜💨

      @PaleHorseOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So dry here, man. We're part of the drought plaguing all of the west coast of North America and still no rain in the forecast for next week. Usually it's been raining for weeks this time of year. At least I can get more projects done that are down in the low parts of the land. Thanks for watching, buddy!

    There is an attachment that you can buy that makes hooking up the pto much easier David. They cost around $300 for your tractor. If you don’t mind the price, they are the cats meow.
    That rough uneven ground gives a really rough ride on these smaller tractor doesn’t it David?
    Man, I can almost see that dust cloud from Iowa.

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL you should have seen me after that, Gary! Yeah I've thought about getting one of those PTO connectors but since I only use that brush hog a couple times per year, it's fairly low on the wish list. They do seem to really help out though. Thanks for watching, my friend! 😀

    It would be nice to have a cab on the tractor with all that dust. The rake is going to have a work out. Later

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mech! Yeah a nice sealed cab with A/C would be awesome. I don't get one though because I go through the forest with low branches all the time. Thanks for watching, buddy!

  • @GardenTractorBoy
    @GardenTractorBoy ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was surprised how much dust it was kicking up at times, your ground must be very dry. Are you planning to rake up all the grass before hitting it with the box blade?

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the plan, Joseph and will be covered in the next video. :) Thanks for watching, mate!

    we have a broom weed problem and use the brush hog to knock down (but not really control)
    but it keeps the grass a little greener in the drought

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes we have broom weed and tansy popping up on the land and I pull it out whenever I get the chance. That stuff is like the plague! Thanks for watching!

    You got access to a Black Diamond mulcher to put on the back of your tractor?

  • @TheTennesseeFrontier
    @TheTennesseeFrontier ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Never knew that on brush cutters . . . having to be somewhat flat. I guess they have a bit of flex in them?

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, but mainly because when first engaging the PTO, it's best to have the cutter shaft as level as possible to prevent binding at the u-joint. It's just a best practice though, not necessarily required. Thanks for watching, buddy. :)

    Oh....the sneaky drone footage !! LOL Nice touch David. Nice and dusty, the way I like it. Not really, I prefer lush and green. Actually we had no bush hogs or three point stuff on the farm and I have very little bush hog experience at all !! I still swear you are a student of Martin @ DIY My Way with the tone and tenor of the ending salutation. My hats off to ya for a good video and commentary.

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoyed it, Wendell! I don't' do a lot of drone footage, but I agree it's a nice touch at times. That dust really makes it hard to do long hours on the tractor, but I don't get a lot of choice during the summer. Plus it's too wet to grade in any of the other seasons. Heck, it didn't get dry enough this year until late July because of the late spring rains we got this year. Martin at @DIYMyWay was my inspiration for starting my channel so I'm sure influenced my tone! Thanks for watching, my friend! 😀

  • @JelenOutDoors
    @JelenOutDoors ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Let the dust fly, the hog has quite the appetite. Well done. It's an implement that I have never used. You seemed to have a good knowledge on operating it. You mentioned that it is something you don't like attaching, is it difficult to do? Keep up the good work and have a great day David!

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, Paul! Just hooking up the PTO is difficult so it's not specific to the brush hog itself. If I was younger with less lifetime injuries, I'm sure it would be easier. LOL Thanks for watching, buddy!

      @@PaleHorseOutdoors the dust did look really bad. It gave me a little laugh when you said it stays wet there and then there was a massive dust cloud.

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL yeah, I guess that wasn't too clear. :) It's either soaking wet or dry as a bone here. Even though it was really dry, the grass was still holding water down near the roots.
