I always come back to this video when I start prepping for a new binds I'm sending off. I'm actually doing this exact, book, but I'm throwing in Arkham Manor between trade 2&3
I'm getting my very first custom bind ready. I'm doing the 5 issue run of The Losers vol 1 as a test to see how it all works and having a full graphic cover
This is the video I've been waiting for! I'm planning on putting all 4 TPB of Image Comics limited series DRIFTER sometime in the future, the comic that made me love comics. So useful to see how its done and would be curious to watch more re: custom covers, HBs, etc.
I’ll definitely be doing more of these! I’ve made bind prep videos in the past but they get lost in the mix, hopefully a series of them is beneficial to folks
I'm doing a Nailbiter/Nailbiter Returns 2- volume bind. And an Outsiders by Judd Winnick set (the series that happened while Identity Crisis and Infinite Crisis went on).
Where do you send yours to? The one place I was going to send my books to shut down (herring and Robinson) so I'd you could recommend a place in the US I'd appreciate it!
I’ve got my first three tester binds going out soon in North Van, Ghost Rider, Deaths Head I & II and House of M. Once I get the TOC and cover page done, they’re off! All this in preparation for a huge run of Hulk from the 1970s to now. Can’t wait!
I’m currently prepping a two volume The Question run with about 50 single issues. My plan after that is to prep my Batman Beyond trades by Dan Jurgens and create a two volume hardcover set.
Hey, Mike! Fun & informative video! If I ever do a custom bind, I will definitely be re-watching this one. So, thanx, bro! Hope you guys & your fams are staying healthy & safe.😊👍🏻👍🏻❤ P.S. Just wanted to ask if you could say a prayer for my cousin. He was just in a bad motorcycle accident, & is in the hospital. Any prayers would be most welcome.
i'll be doing a couple of G.I. Joe binds(DDP, IDW and a continuation of A Real American Hero) and a Danny Ketch Ghost Rider series of binds(i'm grabbing non-main title issues to add in right now)
This is interesting. Have you found anything similar to this if you just want to cover TPB like a clear cover? Not comic book bags. I've seen them for mangas. I've seen some use laminate papers, that seems like damaging the book.
Im sure you've answered a million times before but whats the best place to go to custom bind some floppies? i only know of Houchen Bindery but they have a 25 book max and id like more options
Do you have to remove the covers? I want to send in my three Spawn compendiums. I don't need to remove or break the books apart. So there really is no prep.
Hey Mike, I've never done a custom bind and don't know much about it. But I was wondering, can you send in trade paperback to get bound into larger trade paperbacks? I'm not much for hardcovers, and would really prefer my collection to be in bigger trades that collect 3-4 regular sized trades.
Hi Mike, love the video. Does the bindery require you to pull apart the pages to remove the spine block? I ask because I've sent books out, only removing the cover, and it hasn't been a problem.
They don’t require it, but through experience I’ve found that with a block intact, they will cut more of the page in order to maintain an even book block. So when I separate the pages entirely, the bindery removes less of the comic material in the gutter. This is all dependent on the bindery, but it’s an observation I’ve noted with Lehmann

Love these "How to" as I know little to nothing about custom binds.

Two bind projects I'mma be sending out soon are a volume 1 omnibus of the New 52 Flash and a collection of Journey Into Mystery Featuring Sif.

Incredible runs! Great choices

I have a project for New 52 worlds finest. I'm also on making my own Grayson. I was never able to get the Omni.

I’m thinking of doing a custom bind of the Colder series and Irredeemable.
Irredeemable is lots of fun!

Unintentional ASMR 😄 nice wee video
Do you know of a good book bindery for comic books here in the U.S.?
The two I hear most commonly about are Herring & Robinson and Houchen!
