As someone who dislikes the "family" aspect of so many DC heroes (Superman Family, Bat Family, Flash Family, Shazamily, Green Arrow family etc...) I'm looking forward to the heroes being more solo in nature again. So yeah, I'm looking forward to Absolute DC.
Sounds like an Elseworlds variant, change a few details and see what happens. Sometimes you have to play around with the core concepts without consequences to the rest of the continuity. This sort of play gave us Damian Wayne, the Bat Tank from Miller’s Dark Knight (which pretty much gave us much of the DC movie plots), Kingdom Come, Huntress (so many things started as a Dream issue that then became Earth 2 that then bled over into main continuity after a Crisis), and so on. One off appearances in Animal Man gave us President Superman, who later comes back big in another Crisis (hello Grant Morrison! Plus all the Morrison taking silver age silliness like the league of Batmen and making it into a core plot point).
I have a feeling Robin might be more of a solo hero (or heroine), so we have these possibilities. 1. Absolute Robin might be a street gang of homeless kids that protect their neighbourhood from criminals, and are inspired by Batman to do that. 2.There isn't a Robin and we have Dick go straight into Nightwing. 3.We have a Robin that is basically a costumed boy detective solving crimes. (both this and no.2 take place in Bludhaven) 4. Robin is in Absolute Teen Titans, and they are a sort of 'corporate sponsored superhero team' and 'Reality TV stars' in that universe. (this one being inspired by Wizard magazine's hypothetical pitch for an 'Ultimate DC')
To me this initiative combines 3 concept that have been done in the past: 1) Complete reimaginings of existing characters ("Earth One" series of graphic novels) 2) A fresh new interconnected universe where the characters start their careers again, from scratch, with minor modern twists around their stories (like Marvel's "Ultimate" imprint) 3) A soft reboot of the main continuity with smaller changes to the timeline, character history and in-universe "mechanics" (how do paralel earths work, what are the limits of time travel, what gods and omnipresent beings exist now). They merge it all together to create 2 new "main" continuities: ~First: The original, long established one (wich is "high in Superman energy") ~Second: Absolute Universe, which functions kind of like a mirror world to the first one, or like the Yin to it's Yang (because it has lots of "Darkside energy" so everyone is sad and emo).
I really hope his big status is due to him emphasizing Wrestling/Judo/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in his fighting style instead of the usual Batman Kung Fu-Karate blend I’m also wondering if he’s juiced up on Bane juice as well
I like the city engineer angle, it's been an age old discussion point that rich boy Bruce has been disconnected from the common people, Batman literally sits above the city. Now this Bruce literally has been building and working on Gotham, he's a part of it in an all new way. It's a good approach to that discussion.
I think Tim Burton got it right the first time at the beginning. If this is some bulky muscular dude that already looks intimidating physically then what's the point of putting on a bat suit
Bring it! I’m hoping this is gonna give us some compelling origins and takes on these classics! Twist one part of their core identity and see where that takes us. Yes!
I just wonder if Scott Snyder predicted the sheer number of 'Absolute Unit Batman' memes that would be out there on seeing the image. Marketing. Genius!

Exactly how I feel about DC story telling for about a decade now
I'm getting Dark Knight Returns vibes from this.
That, but pretty-boy face. Mostly what makes me question my vote.
3:49 I enjoy the idea of WONDER woman going someplace fantastical yet grounded
It's Bruteman!
Batman looking like this at 6'6 would probably weight at least 300lbs, not 260 lol
Plus all the Morrison taking silver age silliness like the league of Batmen and making it into a core plot point).
brb checking to make sure The Batman Who Lifts isn't secretly on Grindr
If you look far enough you'll find a guy who looks just like him
No Batcave, no Alfred, no wealth, only steroids.
He has Alfred
Soo..this Batman definitely doesn't have a Robin right? Cause ain't no way this big boy convincing child service to adopt a pre-teen. 😅
Inb4 his robin is the smolest sickliest victorian child, with glass bones disease who’s carried around like backpack Yoda.
I think Alfred is gonna be his Robin with him being more firt and physical than usual.
(both this and no.2 take place in Bludhaven)
4. Robin is in Absolute Teen Titans, and they are a sort of 'corporate sponsored superhero team' and 'Reality TV stars' in that universe. (this one being inspired by Wizard magazine's hypothetical pitch for an 'Ultimate DC')
Well, Tim Drake was Robin while still living with his real family, and I think Carrie Kelly was the same way, so it could work.
What if Absolute Joker is the rich billionaire in this universe
I have to ask a question: How is this guy supposed to sneak around & squeeze into small places
Sacrifice that for more fear factor.
By being Batman
The second you said he resembles Bobby Hill lol 😂😅 all I had running through my head was Bruce who Lifts shouting "Dont touch my Purse"!
This Version of Batman looks like Bane not Bruce Wayne.
Bruce Bayne.
I'm intrigued by the tease of Absolute Flash. He sure looks like he's going through it!
Another new universe? Isn't this the 12th new universe in the last 5 years?
Don't know how recent it was, but congratulations on 200K subscribers!!
To me this initiative combines 3 concept that have been done in the past:
1) Complete reimaginings of existing characters ("Earth One" series of graphic novels)
2) A fresh new interconnected universe where the characters start their careers again, from scratch, with minor modern twists around their stories (like Marvel's "Ultimate" imprint)
3) A soft reboot of the main continuity with smaller changes to the timeline, character history and in-universe "mechanics" (how do paralel earths work, what are the limits of time travel, what gods and omnipresent beings exist now).
They merge it all together to create 2 new "main" continuities:
~First: The original, long established one (wich is "high in Superman energy")
~Second: Absolute Universe, which functions kind of like a mirror world to the first one, or like the Yin to it's Yang (because it has lots of "Darkside energy" so everyone is sad and emo).
I hope Batman is very different. Pointless is it's basically just regular Batman again
I really hope his big status is due to him emphasizing Wrestling/Judo/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in his fighting style instead of the usual Batman Kung Fu-Karate blend
I’m also wondering if he’s juiced up on Bane juice as well
I like the city engineer angle, it's been an age old discussion point that rich boy Bruce has been disconnected from the common people, Batman literally sits above the city.
If he looks like that, imagine what his rouges look like
The Batman If Rob Leifeld Knew How To Draw. (Including feet)
Superman and Batman didn't grabed me, but I am really curious about this Wonder Woman
The thing I’m loving most is the cape utility. Reminds me of the hooks bats call hands
Balls of steel for this. Love it. God we need an animated series.
Bring it! I’m hoping this is gonna give us some compelling origins and takes on these classics! Twist one part of their core identity and see where that takes us. Yes!
I’m stoked for ALL the Absolutes!
Finally, Gym Bro Batman
I just wonder if Scott Snyder predicted the sheer number of 'Absolute Unit Batman' memes that would be out there on seeing the image. Marketing. Genius!
For a guy his size, the batarangs should just be like bat-themed combat knives. Fuck it, why not get a little wacky with it
Trench knives where the knuckle duster is bat shaped.
Let's get that Batman who lifts going. Completely on board with this.
Bat thick. Ready to lift.
THE BATMAN WHO LIFTS. 😂
Rick Remender had a joke in [Deadly Class] involving a frozen burrito and Bruce's window.
can't wait read these new versions, so cool!!
It's extremely sad that people cannot create new ideas and keep "reinventing" the same thing over and over.
