it was interesting to learn about the gas mask function of the water bottle. thinking about the realities of war makes me sad, but i suppose fighting is in our nature
i still remember your expressions and tone of voice when i was watching your videos recorded in Japan. you seem so much brighter nowadays. i know it can be due to all sorts of things (getting more used to filming yourself, for example, or wanting to portray a more positive persona). but i hope it also means you're feeling happy 😊 it's incredibly heartwarming, watching you laugh as you explore things. it makes my day brighter. thank you for sharing all your positivity!

Hey Emmy, it was just Passover recently and I went over a friends to partake in their ceremony, (Sader) when we got a box of matza, I noticed it said the brand had many other Kosher mixes you could use, such as Passover macaroons, passover cakes, cupcakes, and other things. I think itd be neat if you do a couple videos on those just like you do the IKEA taste tests every now and then

Kimberley Earl In North America the main course is called the entrée. Not sure exactly how they became interchangeable here.

I just got out of Air Force basic training and I love that they sent you a canteen with the gas mask part! I in fact had to use the gas mask while I was there and it was neat being able to drink out of the canteen through the attachment. It's great seeing you taste an MRE that I literally just ate!

Ever since I’ve gotten into your series on MREs, I asked my grandad if he’d ever had one in his time in the army. He got into all of these stories of how they were originally canned, but the along came the plastic ones. He actually has some in our storage shed, so I’m actually going to get to try one! My grandad is obsessed with your videos now 😂 he says they remind him of his army days :)
My uncle too 😔 he was murdered 1 month after coming home 😞 only god knows how much I miss him

E-bay is a good place to look for individual MREs as well. "Fresh" MREs (2014-16) I think are selling for about $14 to $18. If you would like more info on MREs, check out mreinfo.com. They have menu listings for as recent as 2016.

Paying anything over 10$ is way to much. You can find them at military surplus stories or if you live near a military base you can go to their commissary and buy them for 8$ I think. Or anyone in your family that's military than can get them for you and send them. I've gotten them for my family and sent them home before.

Fun info about the canteen. You are correct, the black rubber thing is a way to drink the water without removing the lid. However, it requires the use of a gas mask in order to do so. I am a Marine veteran and I can tell you that inside the gas mask there is a little straw that you can grab with your tongue to get a drink if there is a canteen attached.

As someone who loves a quick meal, I find that no matter what, I just love the MREs because not only are they so convenient but even though they aren’t always the greatest food ever, it’s still a lot better and more flavorful than most other things I’ve eaten. all I need is some water and I can make a whole meal in my lap, and I’m down for that all the time
Just had this MRE today. Ration heater was in separate retort, was the BEST working FRH I've ever used. My m&m's were regular, trade ya lol, had lemon-lime. The coffee stunk. Love watching your episodes pretty lovely.
What a lot of people do not know is that M&Ms where originally designed to go into military rations. They where looking for a way to eat chocolate in warm environments and not be gooey in s warfighters hands. So they came up with a way to add a hard candy shell to a bit of chocolate and M&Ms where born. Later they came up with other versions of the popular M&M like the peanut, and other versions.
That's one of my more favorite MRE menus. Cheers Emmy!

The jalapeño cheese spread is the best! My best friend's husband had a bunch of MREs left over from a month long training period and we went through them all looking for that spread.

I was having a bad day and I was scrolling through TH-cam and I came across you and went straight to you're mre playlist I watched the first one when it came out
My husband was in Okinawa with the USMC for 6 months and he fell in love with that curry restaurant! There's one in California that we've been too and it's really delicious so I would be interested to see a taste test!
My brothers in the army and he told me this one is his favorite, he brought one home at Christmas and it was definitely an experience lol

Iccy Forsh There was a specific red dye that was really aweful for you. It was like red 4 or something.
Actually it's carmine lake red, or natural red 4, which comes from bug shells.
its not because of the bug content.. bugs are natural. there was a specific artificial red dye that was thought to cause cancer or something really bad like that

i have ate this meal too. i do mre videos sometimes. my cheese looked like the other day and i didnt eat it it is edible but sometimes on newer mres the cheese looks so nice and creamy. not broken. sometimes the cheese dont hold up if the mre is not keep cool and stored in a cool place. your adorable by the way.

That jalapeño cheese spread is practically currency in the field. And any time you get it, it makes your day better. The worst is knowing which meals it's in, getting one of those, then opening it to find out it's been changed and it's now peanut butter or something- that'll screw up your whole day hahaha
I made friends with some vets near me- they're gonna hook me up with some MRE's so I can try them too! I told them all about your channel and how you make them look so interesting.
i always make sure i have a snack when i watch emmy's videos because if i don't i get so hungry lol
my mom used to do peace keeper weekend training (Canadian soldiers are called peace keepers) and she would always bring me home MRE's because for some reason I really really loved eating them hahahaha they didn't have as many variations back then however. it was mostly beef stew and over processed salsbury steak lol
