Rich Rebuilds has an i8. The battery died and the entire car is locked up with no way to get in. He took it to bmw and they refused to work on it because the warranty was expired. It would cost him way to much to get it fixed. My opinion is that this is the most unreliable electric bmw ever made
The I8 brand new in the USA still costs roughly 130-150k, I’d say you are pretty wealthy if you can fork out for that.. but they depreciate like hell, and over here in the uk we can get a used mint condition low mileage one for 45-50k, still a significant amount but much more affordable overall.

Oil change, 500-700. 1 tire, 650-700. 1 headlight bulb, 1200. Plugs n wires, 3-5k. Your bill from anyone who sees it, add 50-100% 😅

a cool car that’s ACTUALLY cheep ( and cheap to insure for 1st time drivers) is a Hyundai Coupe/Tibuton. you can get a 1.6L for about £2000 and a 2 litre for about £1500! they offer a V6 but that’s about £3500 they look rather sporty and are not “10k cheap”🤣 for a rally looking car look at MG ZR, i got mine for £250 from a friend but are usually about £1000. you can fit a Subaru STI bonnet on it to make it look better also! Happy buying and stay safe
