Hi everyone! I'm afraid I failed to mention in the video that Columbia actually sent me out this jacket to test! Please don't let this impact your view of the video - everything said in it is entirely my own opinion, this is one of my most favourite jackets EVER. I wear it every day and it keeps me BONE dry. Anyways, I am sorry I didn't say this in the video - this was really stupid of me - and can only be put down to - OVEREXCITMENT to get the video done. Anyway, thank you for viewing! Your all legends, I hope this video helped you on your research journey! Thanks! Dave

Nice one David. Additionally from the waterproof is the pit zip is great. On my list to get. Thanks for the review and sharing.

Looks good. May be my next one to try. The trouble is not one of these companies seem to tell you, on the jackets description, that they are only waterproof for a certain amount of time. That information is hidden away in an FAQ or some other place. Most have to have a DWR treatment to revive them and I have found that once you have to do that the jacket is never waterproof again.
I thought buying an expensive jacket would ensure proper waterproof properties but they are just as guilty, hiding the information.
I would have thought our trading standards would have got their teeth into this as it is a massive problem. Same for waterproof boots.
One can only assume that a waterproof coat and boots, that you do not have to reapply DWR, does not exist yet.
Great videos by the way. Keep it up 👍

Appreciate your comment amigo, I’ll be honest I have noticed a few of my older jackets going that way! Maybe I’ll make a video on how to refurb one 👀
It would make sense if all brands sold their own DWR re waterproofing sprays! They’d made a ton right?💪

@DavidPMcEntee just how warm is it? Will I be sweating if I’m wearing it in 15-30* Celsius weather? It can rain a lot in hiking areas for me but want something and temperature throughout the year can be higher 30s all the way down to 5-10 degrees, would I be able wear all year?

What made you choose this particular jacket? I’ve been looking for ages and can’t decide because there are so many on the market! The pit zips are what I’m after, thanks for the review 👌🏼 😊

hey man! How does this fare against the Patagonia Torrentshell 3L? It's about the same price category and I don't know which one to buy.

Hi there. Great video and cool looking jacket. I am looking for something like that for winter months in Ireland. How doeas this jacket looks from wormth point of view? I’m normaly worm most of the time and i wouldn’t wear like puffer jackets as i would sweat to death so i’m looking for something thin but warm that would battle wind and rain and temps up to maybe -5 celsious? Any advise would be great. I was also looking at Columbia’s Delta Ridge Down Hooded Jacket. What do you think guys? Kind regards. Bart.

I think it’s better!!! Cheaper too, feels lighter and more sleek too - ThruDark feels heavier and maybe looks cooler, but I think this is more practical and a more relaxed look. I love the ThruDark jacket but I feel a bit military like in it - so this is a nice jacket that suits all environments!

Mate, this is such a basic ‘review’. Possibly even a paid ad, and not even a good one at that. Not hating, but you don’t know the product or the technical details of the jacket anywhere near well enough to promote it to an audience that likely require that information to make an informed purchase. HH, RET, denier, DWR properties, materials etc. I hope you take this as constructive feedback and not insulting. My suggestion is to learn about material science and increase your segment knowledge so you can further inform the viewer and actually provide tangible value rather than just saying “it’s awesome”. Research the market. Reviewing rain jackets and technical outdoor wear is not a simple as simply commenting on it ‘looking cool’ and being ‘awesome’ / waterproof. It’s so much more in-depth than that. This is a niche subject and people won’t just want a basic “yeah it’s great” review. Your audience will grow if you can make these more informative
