On a 4L80e, removing the original rear cooler line fitting with the tubing that sticks into the transmission will burn up the rear planetary gears and everything behind the rear cooler fitting. That piece of tubing that sticks into the transmission actually fits into the center support to direct fluid into the rear lube circuit of the transmission. With the fitting you used in the video, the fluid will just flow back into the pan without lubricating the rear of the transmission. For a very good explanation of what I’ve described here, watch Precision Transmission’s TH-cam channel. Richard is a master transmission mechanic with over 40 years of experience. He is in Amarillo Texas and builds transmissions for people all over the country. I know the 4L80e is a tough transmission but it’s also expensive to build and repair. I hope this will help you avoid having any problems with your work in the future.

I’m literally doing my trans lines on my LS swap I’m doin on my 96 Caprice right now..... now I just need to figure out how to hook up the shifter linkage.... the new style 4l60e sits back farther than it did with the LT1 and old 4l60e... I’m usin those dirty dingo motor mounts, and I did what you told us and used the LS1 oil pan.... I appreciate you bro thanks again
All good bro the mounts that you’re using are they sliders or are they adapter plates if there plates you need the engine to be on the second setting so that it sits the motor in the factory location glad I saved your a$$ again hahahah appreciate the love mayne

There’s a dude on there right now that’s getting his swap done by you.... and I’m using the sliding adjustable dirty dingo mounts. The transmission crossmember is stopping me from sliding the engine any farther forward, I have the trans mount on the forward slot on the crossmember and it’s as far as it will go... so I cut that crossmember or something???? You should make a video dedicated to transmissions that would be awesome!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Lol

Noice. That looks so clean. I didn't know about that, I cut the OEM Hardline and bent it 90° and clamped transmission lines to that. This looks way better.
Thanks man the way you did it works as well but this way is just a tad bit quicker easier and don’t cost much for a nicer look best thing abut it is not having to bend them hard lines it’s a pain doing that

Be sure to get the NPS style thread fittings for the trans fittings. Don't get the wrong ones in the trans and strip them or cross thread. 💪🏾

Will you show me which trans line goes to the radiator and which one goes to the trans cooler then to the radiator? My transmission fluid is pink. I thought it was a broke radiator, I replaced it, flushed it and it got pink again.

2:02 I've read that some people used the wrong fitting that goes into the trans. Something about the fitting not having the extension into the trans. Can you expand on that, please?
I heard that the 4L80E needs some type of internal extensions, but I can’t confirm.
I use those as well they come in an fittings
I was thinking the same thing if you dont have the extention the fluid will just dump in and run down the inside of the trans instead of reaching further in the trans were it needs to go

Hey big dog what it do do? I know you do a lot of lq4/Lq9 swaps. Most of those have hydro boost brakes right? If so do you use the hydro boost power steering pump and setup the hydro boost brake system or do you cap off the hydro boost ps pump?
Or do you use non hydro boost ps pumps altogether
I don’t use none of that crap I hook it up like factory straight to the brake booster and ps to the ps box thanks for watching

I’m looking up ps pumps on rock auto and I’m coming up with part number 15909832 but it says with hydro boost. I don’t wanna use hydro boost. At least not right now. Should I still go with that ps pump?

@D. I. Y. With the Richardsons >Over the decade of fixing vehicles, most all automatics run 8-14 PSI in the cooling circuit. The hot fluid is pumped directly from the torque converter thru a balance valve. The bulk of the return is directed into the lubrication circuit to lube planetary gears to the output shaft bushing and everything in between. Hope this helps.
