1. Roll into door
2. Glide in a perfect way right next to the door
3. Groundpound right next to the door

I think the reason you can use the Propeller Box while crouching with the Tanooki Suit because the game thinks you stop crouching after fluttering, even though the crouch button is still being held.
I already know this challenge is doable because my 3ds triggers were broken when I was a kid, so Mario was in a constant crouch for the entirety of the game.

for 6:18 you can use the propeller hat with the tanooki suit because the glide makes you uncrouch thus allowing you to use it (same would work with walljumps too i believe)
I remember trying this out for myself a month ago with no limitations
except for not using the invincibility leaf or p-wing and the first level I had a really hard time with was 4-4.
I was able to beat the main 8 worlds. For the purple doors, I slid down the wall into the door and it worked.

I recall that with the Tanooki Leaf, if you tail swipe walking into a purple door, you can walk through, making this challenge 100% possible.

I commented this on your twitter, but idk if you saw plus I didn't go into this much detail, its actually possible to beat SM3DL While crouching, and I found 3 alternative ways to go into the purple doors while crouching
1. Rolling into door (Very easy with feet, plus you prob forgot about roll or had reason?)
2. Ground pound near door (impossble most likely due to setup)
3. Glide in a way so you lend by the door (you stand for about a frame which is enough for your to open door, also kinda hard, but doable if you can time it or don't get hurt by something, and it doesn't require a roll)

Propeller with Tanooki makes perfect sense, when you start to tanooki float, you exit the crouch state giving you a chance to zoom up.
I think the Reason you can use the propeller box while gliding with the Tanuki suit is because when you glide/float maybe the Game sees Mario in a Standing/Not Crouching state and because of that you’re able to use the Propeller box

I think the reason you can use the propeller box with the tanooki suit is because when you hold the jump button with the tanooki suit you glide, but you’re also upright. And the same inputs are required to activate the propeller box, so you fly because you’re basically standing up.
I liked the video before the video started because it's my favorite TH-camr.

YASS 3D land is so underrated
You can go through the purple doors while crouching. Jump and then ground pound and then you have a couple frames to go through the door.

Man I remember back when I played this at school years ago, some kid spoiled the existence of the Special levels for me, completely removing any sort of surprise I would have had,.... and yes several years later and I'm still salty whenever I'm reminded about this game.

I did this around a year or 2 ago and the only levels i had a truoble with 3-5,5-3,6-Airship,8-2,and 8-Final Castle

try using a tandoori suit to fly over the door and slide down the wall in front of the door, then while still barely suspended in midair the door might open before the crouching animation begins... idk if this will 100% work but thats what I thought could do it

I'm actually not sure if this would work but there a trick called Ground Pound Jump. Once you jump immediately after a Ground Pound, you can be able to land standing and that might get you through the Purple Doors if you line everything up well. It worked for carrying something while crouching in Bowser's Fury.
