Here’s a tip: give Brody one of your old shirts or one of Max’s old shirts to sleep with in the crate! Make sure you’ve worn it for a bit so it has your scent-it’ll calm him down and help with crate training 💕

Here's a tip too: puppies have what's called a "fear impact period". If puppies have "bad" or "scary" experiences during this time, the impressions could last a lifetime!
This happened to my golden while he was eating his breakfast once. his collar tag got caught on the metal bowl holder and he dragged it about 3 feet and screamed the whole way!
Now everytime he eats (and he's 1 yr now) He nudges the food bowl with his nose to make sure it doesn't go anywhere :)
So it's great that you guys are taking him to do normal things and praising him (it's especially helpful when it's thundering out)

When he is sleeping in the crate put a old shirt that smells like you and one that smells like max put it in the crate. also if he cries my trainer told me just put your finger through the crate when he cries! it really helped with my golden retriever. she is 5 months old
also make sure when he is in the crate you aren’t drawing attention to him. you can also put towel or blanket in the crate to make him comfy.
I agree the first night we had our puppy I just slept with my hand/fingers in the crate and he was fine.
If this is Gretchen as a dog mom I cant wait to see her as a real mom

Puppy tip: We always talked at a normal voice and didn’t change our routine at all so she would be used to noises and sleeping in louder environments and it’s been super helpful so far! Just a puppy tip that worked with my pup :) Brody is so so adorable congrats!

A great tip I learned for my Bernese was to buy small washcloths, wet them and put them in the freezer. This way, the are “reusable” and you don’t have to keep buying treats and toys. He is adorable :)

Omg this is all so exciting! 🤩 just a tip- give Brody a treat in his crate before bedtime, that way he feels like it is his home because he has a treat in it and therefore positive association! Our vet told us this and we did it with our dogs and they always loved their crates! ❤️ Ilsym and congrats again with Brody!
My dogs are golden doodles I have three and they ate 60 dollars I had on my desk

Crate training is the best thing to do with a new puppy. It helps create a safe and quiet spot of their own. Before you know it he'll go in on his own. It also helps put them on a regular schedule so they get solid rest. Did this with both of my furbabies, and they love it!
I've owned many dogs over the years, but by far my Golden was the most dear to me. He had the sweetest disposition! I do recall those puppy years- we had to be vigilant about keeping shoes and socks off his radar. Undeniably, our pets provide such unconditional love, comfort and company during the good and challenging times of our lives. Best wishes for a long and happy life with Brody!

@@mbansal1231 I'm afraid I can't help you with that. We got our dog 15 years ago from a breeder here in the Midwest, who has since retired from the business. Our precious Golden had to be put down at age 10 from brain cancer and we were heartbroken. My husband and I now have two rescue dogs, mixed breeds and they've wormed there way into our hearts quite effectively! Good luck with your search!

Make sure you take his collar off when you crate him, small pups can accidentally hang themselves if they jump and it gets caught.

you should try to continue on with your daily life (making noise, talking, and moving around) while he is napping. Even though it will be difficult initially and he wont settle easily, it will be a lifesaver in the long run! My pup can sleep through any noise now and wont get disturbed nearly as much :) such a cutie

golden retirevers are the bestttt. i grew up with one and now i have one that is 6 and she has much a personality (she thinks shes a human) My golden also only stayed in the crate for about a month until we learned she doesnt chew anything apart. Brody is so freaking adorable and is such a good boy

some little tips I used on my yellow lab puppy for when I crate trained him! : get a small clock that makes the ticking sound and put it outside of their crate at night! also take a blanket or shirt that you wear a lot and put in his crate with him he will feel like he is with you bc he can smell you!

Im a all natural dog parent and I get these cow bones at petsmart or petco and they have prefilled bones but I get the ones without filling and I’ll put peanut butter in them and it helps with teething and occupying them in kennels when you’re gone!!! It’s a life saver❤️

Also be careful about leaving stuff out when he’s teething.. my puppy would chew EVERYTHING, my shoes 😭😭, even underwear, cords, literally everything 😅 just gotta be conscious about leaving stuff around

Try a sound machine at night if you don't already use one! It helped my dog SO much because he couldn't hear us walking around and it also reminds them of the womb (weird but true) and makes them calmer. I just used the waves setting on a sound machine and it helped so much.

Plus he appears to be so affectionate too when he was hugging you and your beloved partner nearly all the time :-). Give him a shirt from one or both of you and try some Adaptil. My golden struggled at night for a week or 2. You’ll be glad you crate trained when he starts teething!!! Stick with it!
The phrase is “Let sleeping dogs lie” so it fits perfectly!
i got a snuggle puppy for my mini golden doodle and it was awesome. even now ( she’s 1) she still loves it! eventually she started to tear it up after she’s outgrew it, but it was awesome for a while!
I highly recommend puppy kong’s (the pink and blue ones) stuff with peanut butter and freeze. Keeps them occupied & so good for the teething! 🥰🥰
