    No cutting. No drilling. Keeping the car in mint condition. That is my favourite part.

    Thank you for your video. I also have a little hatch back and watching your videos has given me hope for self camping.

    Something for me to consider after doing vanlife for two years and all the expense that goes with it. Great idea and very stealth if you need it to be.

    Geniale!

    Depends on where you plan to camp in winter. -8c is a warm day in Finland during winter.

      An extra pair of socks will do the trick.

    This is brilliant mate! I’ll have to try this in my Nissan hatch. Curious…did you use nappies under all that? Can’t imagine trying to get out of all of that in the middle of a winter night!

    amazing! where did you buy these perfect matching boxes?

    • @farawayporch
      @farawayporch  ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Thanks! B&M (UK). Surprisingly they perfectly match. Initially I wanted to use one piece ottoman box for each side. It gives a softer top surface and it is more sturdy. However, making it with two boxes stacked on top of each other gives you more flexibility. Because the smaller one goes to the base and the longer one to the top. Because the space between rear and front seats is not fully cubical. Also, ottoman boxes are heavier. Additionally, a large ottoman box filled with so many stuff makes it difficult to find items quickly when you need them. Overall, this is a good setup and the car can always be back to normal in less than 5 minutes without making a mess.

    How do you heat your car in the night? Do you live engine on?

    • @farawayporch
      @farawayporch  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With proper clothing and sleeping bags it gets so hot that you start removing extra clothing.

    • @farawayporch
      @farawayporch  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Would be small for you. I'm 175cm and will sleep diagonally without any issues. You probably need to sleep in fetal position (slightly).

    Is the table/wooden slat attached to hinges or freestanding? And where did you get something that fit so well, did you make it?

    • @farawayporch
      @farawayporch  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's IKEA Linnmon 100x60 cm. Surprisingly it fits perfectly in this car! Not attached to anything. Just watch my very first video to figure out. Cheers!

    I'm thinking about same thing. My question is: Why not leave engine and heating on overnight? Consumption is maybe 0,7 l/h, I sleep 7 hours so it is 5 l of gas. It's not to expensive.
