    Love it Alex , you should get a set of wind deflectors for your 2 front door windows so you can leave your windows down a little at night even if it’s raining and the rain wont get in. They’re cheap as chips in Halfords 🙏

    I can't remember a time where ive started watching a brand new channel, and been this excited for new uploads. usually ive got a few years of backlog to go through lol. Also I know you talked about maybe getting a van but I think this car project has alot of charm, theres hundreds of "van life" channels but very few like this one, personally I find it far more relatable and interesting to see where this goes. All dependent on if it's comfortable and enjoyable for you ofc 😀 keep it up lad

    You might want to put a few breathing holes in the plywood, right under your future mattress. Some campers had serious problems with condensation and they had to throw out their mattress. Wind reflectors and custom window shades are good ideas too!

  • @adventurelab8242
    @adventurelab8242 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Great commitment to convert small 2 door hatch into camper, especially being tall guy like you.
    Only one problem with this design is that you are losing ton of storage space, especially in part under the bed where front seat was, and since it is such a small car, that is important thing.
    I saw somebody suggested to make holes on bed for ventilation, since it will be humid, that is good idea.
    Also wind deflectors are good thing to put on front windows, so you can crack open them.
    Make some removable covers for widows, so you can have privacy.
    Keep enjoying life man.

  • @T-Tects

    Hey Alex, nice videos definitely a change from Carl and Alex, from experience a good way to stop condensation is to get some heko wind deflectors for the front windows, and just leave them open a few millimetres to allow air flow, and maybe get the rear windows tinted fairly dark, you can get foil bubble insulation cut to size and use sticky Velcro for the windows, good luck

    Hi Alex, enjoying your ventures. Just a suggestion you may want to drill series of holes in the ply for ventilation for your mattress. Also have you left access to your jack and spare wheel? Assuming they are under the floor.

  • @dianematlock7922
    @dianematlock7922 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Go to a second hand shop and buy an electric knife to cut the foam to shape...
    Drill holes in plywood for the foam to breathe to help prevent mold on mattress.
    Do not use plastic to store food, use glass or metal containers to prevent mice from chewing through,also store all tissue,paper towels, coffee into metal containers.
    Good luck on your adventures...

You can get memory foam off eBay for your mattress easy to cut to fit shape of space .

    Where your head goes where the old passenger seat was. Make the wood under bed and door that lifts up and u. An store stuff underneath then.

  • @dw816
    @dw816 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice 👍 you should think about putting a hinge on the panel up at the passenger seat so you can use the footwell for extra storage.

  • @team3383
    @team3383 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Deffo needs a hinge for that storage trap to keep "valuables" out of sight and ease of use.
    Maybe even a plug in cooler into the cigarette lighter under there for the summer months.
    Its a good place for a small battery too.
    Wind deflectors for front windows and "curtains" and you've a great wee camper.
    I fitted a cover (black canvas) that fits on screw in studs at window height, simply to make it look tidy from the outside and keep prying eyes out. A bit like a "tonneau" cover for an open sports car, only it fits inside and nobody realises it's in fact a mini camper.
    Well done.

    Really interesting video, I can't wait to see the end result. Another tip, in cities you can find large quantities of morels on freshly mulched surfaces, for example in the Ikea parking lot. Another tip would be, morels also grow in large numbers in forests that have been destroyed by a storm or fire. These places are usually significantly more productive than the places in healthy forests, but only for one to two years. 😉

Just a thought if it's hard to find a mattress that would fit all the funny odd cut outs , could you not try and see if there is a thick type of foam as you'd be able to buy a chunk and cut it into and around all the odd shapes ? . Might not be as comfortable as a proper mattress but would tie you over till you sourced a custom one 🤷‍♂️ just a thought 👍.

    -hide your battery (not having the overflow tube in your direction)
    -make an extension to plug your aux-battery into your car system, it will charge it as you drive
    -add a couple of power socket (12V car plug and USB)
    -add a lighting system
    -install some velcro near the windows and have some black cloth mask in order to black them out.
    -make a simple corrugated plastic adaptor for one of your window with a 12v PC fan in it. it will help with air circulation while you cook.
