I went winter solo car camping in my dodge grand caravan which I turned into a campervan. It got very cold but I stayed pretty warm with my electric blanket. I take my minivan camper camping all the time, but tried some new things in this video. A lot of fresh snow on the ground, but thankfully it was plowed.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (1 John 4:7-8)
Amen
well thats just confusing
@@jonny_codphilo7809 sorry bro, old English can confuse some. Here’s easier to read version.
Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God. 8Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love. (1 John 4:7-8)
AMEN GOD BLESS YOU
So true... Love also covers a multitude of sins so remember that everyone. We all sin everyday but if we show love everywhere we go, even when it's difficult, God is able to forgive us. 💞✝️🙏💯
I got a 12v electric blanket that uses only 40W and has a 4 hour timer. It's very efficient. SEALY 12-Volt Heated Car Blanket, Portable Heated Blanket with 3 Heating Levels & 4 Hours Auto Off, Electric Blanket for Car, Truck, SUV, RV or Camping, Machine Washable, 59" X 43", Plaid
It's really nice that your wife is obviously supportive of you taking your camping trips. You seem to have a blessed family. Stay safe and keep them coming!
Thanks Kimberley, God bless!
He is gone only for one night not big deal
She gets her space so why wouldn't she be supportive lol.
A healthy marriage needs space at times. I'm on year 15, with 2 kids and both spouses NEED brief moments away from each other to come back strong and dedicated to each other.
omg...in a healty relationship people can do there own thing...
Wow a very nice set up, always thank God for your good health and the blessings he has given you
When im ice fishing I boil water and cook on the buddy heater you're already running it take advantage of it.
I live under an electric blanket...in my house! 🤣 I hate being cold and it gets me through the winter! 👌
😁😂
I hate being cold. If I'm warm I sleep much better
Wow can’t believe how well you slept considering the inside temperature so that blanket worked well. Audio and video were excellent Glad you are testing to find the best setup for your future camping trips. 😊
Electric blankets are the absolute best for camping in the cold. It has the added bonus of always ensuring feet stay warm, which is not easy (even a freezing-rated sleeping bag and thick socks don't work as well).
Totally! After that sleep I got I definitely need to use it more
A good base layer, shirt and long johns and socks, of merino wool also goes along way of staying warm as well. Keeps you warm, doesn't overheat, or smell.
My new fav channel.
♥️
I love the experiments . This is how we learn . I experiment everything to make sure there are no bad problems while out and about . This is where you don't want a problem . Great video as always !
Amen, thanks!
what you need is multi fuel campng stove and jet boil pot as your water boiling set up, you can use propane from your propane tank as well as gas from car to run it, jet boil jug has fins on the base which absorbs heat from the flame and boils water really fast, as you are already using a tent to as kitchnette, you dont have to worry about carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide build up in your sleeping area. that will help you save batteries.
That’s what I was thinking because that electric cooking thing was pulling way to much power!
You can cook on your buddy heater with a metal pain grid, hooks on the handle and works great
Yeah I know, this was just a test to see what I could do with electricity so I could learn and improve. Thanks for watching!
I'm off grid I tried a electric blanket for about 6 months threw winter with about 18 degrees it worked ok. But 2 sleeping bags and a few blankets on top in 18 degrees worked better, no heat or no power! I was totally warm in 2 sleeping bags, few blankets on top, 4 layer hat, shirt, socks and underwear. Very warm after about 40 minutes!
Yeah sleeping bag is more practical for sure, just wanted to try out the electric blanket thing to see what it’s like and if it’s worth it. I’d want to get one that pull less watts, and just have extra blanket. Also decent solar setup before I’d want to use it for multiple days in a row.
@@TolbersCamping I burned up a cheap Chinese inverter generator only running it at times and lasted through the winter after running the electric blanket. Electric blanket instructions said don't use with a generator. The generator would spike up and down all night on the lowest setting on the electric blanket.
@@tomtee4442 yeah a cheap gas generator probably wouldn’t be best for that lol
The video and audio when you were in the moon shade was fantastic. Great video as a whole. I was definitely a little shocked that you were warm and cozy but your water partially froze. Thanks for another excellent video. Stay safe and warm.
Thanks Cindy!
a 12V electric blanket is more efficient. The power station doesn't have to run the inverter to power it. It saves considerable power.
Amen. God bless you and keep you and your family. 🕊
Son of a furnace man here; I watch you set up your side tent and anchor the bottoms down with snow, but you leave the gap under the van open. I keep wanting to say, "hey, close that down there, you will save some heat".😀
You do a great job on the reviews, very detailed and not boring.
Thanks Timothy, means a lot. I try to only accept things that make my setup better and I think are really nice my viewers may be interested in.
Zippers on those walls would hold your heat in a lot better. Great setup. ❤
Thank you for the demonstration on the multiple devices that was awesome! I like the Tumblr your wife made for you & the lighter that she got you. new sub here.
Thank you for being you Sir . Go lightly within and God bless
Thanks bro, appreciate you! God is good, God bless!
great video Matt, you have a wonderful setup there with everything you need no matter what the temp is outside. looking forward to the next one
Thanks Rich, I really enjoyed some time of with the family but videos should start getting more consistent again 😁
If all you are doing is boiling water, I understand electric kettles (like they use in Britain for making tea all the time) are far more efficient and faster at boiling water. For more info you can watch the video "Why don't Americans use electric kettles?" By the channel Technology Connections.
Thanks Remy, I agree and will order one and try it out in video soon 😁
Your only talking about the output side of that equation. While 1KW of electricity can be converted to 1kw of heat energy, you have to consider the power density. He's got a 80lb battery pack that holds around 2kw, which is 2kw of heat energy. a single 4 oz isobutane canister which weighs a few oz has more energy than that. The video you reference, while a good video, is also under the assumption that accessibility to either energy source is not limited. Just because you can use your cell phone energy to boil a cup of water doesn't mean you should, especially if then you will have no energy for your cell phone.
Thank you for sharing and teaching us in detail how all your gadgets work !
did anyone else see his cup at 16:18😂 one hot cup of coffee
Awesome video Matt! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Hahaha! It was the "BOOP!" for me. 😂
Great vids man! Lots of great gear that you are using in real time. Keep up the awesome vids!
The AMBIENCE is always cozy
I have been looking for a power station for myself and this is the first time I have heard of this one, I like it! I haven't found one that says pick me yet but this one might be it 😂 Thank you!
I love my electric blanket, I live where it can get down to -50C in winter so it comes in handy! I could never live without one!
Matt, I wish I had something like that to camp in, it's so comfy and safer than a tent. Having your vehicle is an easy escape in a scary situation. You're doing a great job with all you're doing. I really like the moon shade canopy too. God bless! Love the cup your wife made for you too. I also like the wide angle lens! 😊👍
Thanks Teresa, God bless!
Great set-up....well thought out, and looks nice and cozy....HAPPY CAMPING.... you did a very good job on the visual and sound of the video.....I really enjoyed watching and just subbed....cant wait to watch your next adventure
Thank you for the way you explained & described thing. Not everyone is an expert. Love your channel.
Thanks Elizabeth!
Really enjoy your videos, thank you.
Once again great vid. I. Like the room a lot and for me I liked the wide angle shots. Really liked your bed set up. Dont give up the electric blanket😉. Thanks again. May Peace Health and Happiness follow you and yours
Thanks Bill! Yeah I’m definitely going to be using the wide angle shot more often. The electric blanket made for such a good sleep 😴 God bless you brother
Hey Matt

Absolutly good and simple setup! Awesome job.
Thanks Dave!
Great to see you back brother. Hope you and the fam had a wonderful holiday. I wish i could do some over nighters but because of health its only day trips for now. Love the rig set up. BTW, the cup your wife made is sick. God bless and be safe.
Thanks bro and remember, Jesus paid for your healing. Just gotta go after that truth until it manifests into your body. Stay blessed bro

Love the content actually giving me ideas for my overland build
Awesome video!
Awesome as always.
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks 😀
Love the cup. Faith over fear is the way. So thankful for your vid. I have been considering getting out this month in my Grand Caravan as well. Now I know what buddy heater to buy.
Amen and hope you can get out there!
Hey Bro! Nice vlog! I like the set up! Everything is coming along great, definitely looks comfortable! The highlight of the videos is seeing what candle your burning for the vlog! 😆 I yell at my finance about my “ good “
Candles LOLOL
I just had your videos show up in my feed. I subscribed and appreciate the adventures and the bible verses. God bless.
Two thumbs up buddy!! I don't even do camping, but this was a Rad video!! Brrrrr!
Nice candle...Fun story... We get to camp one afternoon in the Sierras and my Dad, who arrived a few days before, says "lucky you weren't here yesternight cuz there was a bear in camp..." I figured he was out to scare my greenhorn boyfriend so I ignored it since he was chuckling to no end all the way back to his own camp. We set up, great day until... we find the missing ice chest from the raided camp the night before (across the river and full of tooth like holes), now we know it's real... nice night until... we light a vanilla ice cream candle we brought and my bf looks at me after inhaling the pleasant, accurate, aroma... eyes wide he says "This candle smells TOO good..." slams the lid back on and hides the candle out by the fire pit. Morning comes and my Pop thinks its a hoot to send his rottweiler over in the dark to wake us up.... Bf thinks it's the real thing until our own pooch starts wagging his tail, and under his breath says "I'm never buying another scented candle again"... Still my favorite story!
You might want to check that location finder info before you trust it. If that doesn’t have a cellular or GPS location that transmits and receives, it’s using the app on YOUR phone to determine its location. I’d test it by leaving it someplace safe, driving away (app off) and see of it can find its location from a mile+ away. If it can’t find/see it consider attaching a gps or AirTag to help with its recovery if needed. 😊
For heat you can not beat a diesel heater. Also safer than a buddy heater. I camp in my Caravan a lot. Diesel heater will heat it overnight and use about 1/2 gallon of diesel. Propane causes condensation.
I do like your setup. Very simple and not permanent
The set up is fine
Thank you so much brother! I really enjoyed your video! As always be safe out there and God bless you and your family! Take care!!! ❤️👍😊
Thanks Maria, God bless!
Heated blankets are so nice of you can facilitate it, my husband and I uses one in an RV, we didn't want to use up all our propane on heat, the heated blanket saved our butts
Looks and sounds great! Thanks!
😁♥️
Great video, thanks 👍
Good tips van livin'
That is crazy to go camping in such cold weather when you could stay at home in your house and be toasty warm with all the comforts. Go camping in warmer weather.
Sounds like a boring life bro, gotta get out and do things out of the normal sometimes. I enjoy being out in the forest while making my portable home cozy. Thanks for watching and God bless
I've enjoyed this channel a great deal. I'm in a situation where I can't really do a build because I gotta haul 4 kids around. My van camping adventures have to be quick to setup and takedown. Soccer mom by day, van camper by night. You give me some good ideas to improve my setup. Thank you!
Enjoyed the video and the lens did a good job on the wide angle with some distortion. Thank you for showing more cooking and heating options, but I think I will stick to gas for cooking. My small power bank definitely would not stand up to the load.
Safe travels and happy camping!
Thanks David and I agree the wide lens definitely looked useable just not as clear in lower light situations. Gas cooking is still definitely more doable for majority of people, technology is definitely coming along way though and shouldn’t be to long before it’s a great option at a reasonable price.
I really enjoyed your video !! Stay warm and safe !!
Thanks Toni!
Great video! I love winter camping specially the snow. I thought your filming was great
Thanks Jessy!
Wide angle is brilliant ! Love it
Thanks Robin!
Hey Matt That was a wonderful winter background Of your video.
Thanks bro!
16:18 legit looked like you had a cup of fire! Love your content
For real 😂😂 thanks bro
This is actually a pretty cool set up!
Ive got a 2019 Dodge Caravan & working on my build now. I removed all back seats thus exposing the floor tubs. The rear tub is where I'm putting my Honda EU2200 generator, Buchu diesel heater & window air conditioner. Figured I'd get the high dollar & hard stuff done first because anything else is cosmetic.
Seems so comfy, peaceful
Really love your videos.
My sister lives about 15 miles from there. I used to fish on the "Dead Sea" to your north a lot when I was a kid. Cool videos. It's nice up there and it looks cozy in your van.
Love the cup your wife made 😁
Hi there, great Vlog, very nice set up.Thanks for sharing!
Greetings from Germany, Silke👋☘
Thanks Lu!
Hi Matt. I love watching your videos. I wished Texas got more snow than we do. It hardly ever snows in my part. I'm grateful that I came across your channel a few months ago. It's nice to see a Man of God show his love for our Lord and Savior! God bless and protect you and your family!
Thanks Lara!
Things look and sound pretty good 😊🎉🎉🎉😊
Amen love each other be forgiving to all,,
You lucky duck! Keep it up!
Thanks yr new video
Love what you you're doing my friend, keep it up.. Thank you.
Looks good
I love your videos! Im hooked now! 😉👍🏻 Greetings from California 🌴
Thanks Jose! Hope to visit cali at some point
Excellent set up
Thanks!
Your camera is so clear!
Loved the video!!! 🥰
Thanks 😁
That Vanpowers station is SWEET. I might just sell my Jackery 1000, and buy one. Love the awesome products and tips on your channel!
Thanks bro and It would definitely be a nice upgrade over the Jackery 1000!
Real nice video. Thank you.
Thanks Gary!
Hi there, I am Kathy. You are really very good at enjoying your camping life.
Hey Kathy, thanks!
How many days do you spend totally in your van throughout a year?@@TolbersCamping
Very nice set up! 👍
audio and wide angle shot sounds and looks great
Ok thanks!
Glad you back to recording new videos this year , happy new year and family too !
Thanks Nelson, Happy New Year! I have some fun ones coming soon 😁
Wow. Nice Video As Usual. I Would Get The Closed In Camper That Connect To The Van With Windows And With The Floor And The Part That Close In At The Bottom Of The Van. No Bugs, Snakes Nor Animals. The Blanket Is A Great Idea. It May Deplete The Battery And Just Make Coffee, But You Can Recharge During The Day. You May Have Already Said How Long It Take To Charge, But I Didn't See It. It's Pretty Big. Enjoy Your Videos. They Are Not Long And Boring. Beautiful Scripture. Thank You
Pretty good
In the past I had a water bed they are nice cause you can control the temp based on the current season like summer OR Winter. I remember being put on muscle relaxers when I had a water bed tell you what. Being on muscle relaxers and sleeping on a water bed it's pure heaven it's like your floating on clouds.
Using a heating pad for your bed OR even a heating blanket as one is nice as well during winter. Turn it on like 10 mins before getting in bed you will never climb in a cold bed ever again.
Wow, so pretty out there. Nice video. 👍
love it
Video looks great, sound is good.
Thanks Mike! I plan to use that wide angle more often in future videos
cool ambiant lights
excellent
Nice video brother sweet set up
Thanks bro!
Love our electric blanket, try not to sleep with too. Much heat on in the house, you look very safe but as the fire chiefs daughter I did not bsee a fire extinguisher , stay safe and have fun.
Hey there... If I remember correctly from the past,,, Electric blankets aren't supposed to have a lot of weight on them when powered. They are supposed to go over people, not the other way around. One of the waste products of burning propane is water. Humidity will increase the longer you have the heater on... Or when using a propane stove. Sometimes it condenses on the metal above the headliner especially when really cold. Black mold can make a home. Stay safe and warm
Yeah I’ve never slept on top of a heater blanket but worked great. I agree though it’s probably not meant for it, just a trial thing for me. Yes propane does create quiet a bit of moisture, but just like after you take a shower you turn on the fan to pull all the moisture out you can start your vehicle and run the heat with ac on for a few minutes to do the same thing as you see I did in this video. Thanks for watching!
@@TolbersCamping Electric blankest also not supposed to be folded over on to themselves. This can create hot spots where one wire crosses another. Another thing is the extension cord for the hot plate. Something this high of wattage should not be attached to an extension cord. Especially one that is under a floor mat with no protection. There are reasons people burn down their houses in the winter. Most of which are related to stressing electrical systems beyond their design intent.
@@macdaddykwm1 Thanks for letting me know about the heated blanket thing. As far as the extensions cord thing I always make sure to use one that's rated higher then what the draw is. Thanks for watching bro
@@TolbersCamping You can get heated under pads, made to lay on. At least they use to sell them.
@@kathleennorton7913 yeah I’ve seen those and definitely a possibility
