I feel you Rocky, after my wife and I lost our baby, she returned to alcohol after being on the wagon for years. The more I tried to help and get her to accept help and treatment the more she pushed me away. Thing got really bad but I never gave up, exhausting all the options I could think of to get her to stop being so self destructive...even after we separated. I begged her to goto counseling with me but she turned to drugs, Spice, and it made her violent. I was absolutely lost...less than two yeas later, I had to bury her. That was in October of 23' and I'm still absolutely empty inside. Our two Frenchtons and giving them the best life can is really all I have now. I don't really have any close family and a drunk driver put me in a wheelchair for life...drugs and alcohol literally took everything from me and I wasn't even the user, smfh. I hope she finally found peace and our daughter on the other side. Sorry, this vid just hit me hard. You do great work...in my experience, dogs are greater than people.

It can be hard to love someone who doesn't love themselves. I just hope that you find someone or something to make life's struggles worth pushing thru. Be proud of all the support you gave. You didn't fail her. She just couldn't accept the help.
Hi....So sorry to hear of your troubles & that intoxicating substances have influenced your life even as you have not participated in addiction. It seems so unfair, & yet life is often not fair to most of us. I think that animal lovers are often a community full of empathetic ppl because they themselves have been hurt or damaged by life, & instead of becoming bitter, we let compassion & love rule towards 'beings' that are even more vulnerable than ourselves.
The most amazing ppl I know are ppl w disabilities because they choose to rise above their circumstances, instead of allowing themselves to be defeated. A quad I know, has an international org to help ppl all over the globe....and has been the greatest influence in my life; even as she is wheelchair bound in body, her amazing spirit soars with enthusiasm, determination, and Christ-like love.
I have difficult physical issues, but I can never feel sorry for myself when I am inspired by ppl such as yourself that can reach out to encourage Rocky, even as you "have gone through it", as Rocky often says. I support you from afar, even if we never meet in person....just like all of us support Rocky, Kelly, Alexis, & these deserving dogs. Take care, my Friend.

I feel so bad for Wesley. He doesn't deserve to be in a shelter. He deserves a warm and loving home, he deserves a backyard to romp in. He looks so defeated, I hope he finds a forever home soon.

Thank you Rocky, i am 81yrs old lady and former birddog trainer and groomer and i melted watching this and seeing the change come over Wesley and i would take him in a minute and i miss being around animals and God bless you for caring so much.

My wife of 48 years passed almost 3 years ago. Many family members were there to support me, but it was our then two yo miniature long hair dachshund that helped the most to retrieve me from my depression. It works both ways. You help and love them and they love you back 10 fold.

When my husband died one of the things that kept me from laying down and never getting up again was my animals. They need us too.

He needs a foster home ASAP, get out of the shelter environment, and be allowed to decompress, before he can learn to trust. He's shell-shocked right now. He needs a quiet home, a stress-free environment, given good nutrition, plenty of fresh water, a soft bed, and a human who understands. A veteran with PTSD is actually the perfect companion for this dog. ❤

Just remember these dogs are not people . They need care and patience. Most come around but new families always will wonder how the dog was raised . Etc . Just live and live . Dogs need a pack .

I noticed, during the 43 minutes it took to view the video - and over the 4 hours it's been up - the number of likes went from 5.7K to 6.1K and the number of viewers were around 40K. As I've written this comment, the # of likes just rolled over to 7K, and # of views is *46,533!* People *love* to see Rocky *sitting with dogs,* gently _coaxing them out of their shell,_ doing _The Scoop_ and _reading with dogs._ We want to _support Rocky's efforts_ in whatever ways we can.

dogs are really empathetic, i think they can kinda sense it. he might still be a litttle reserved or afraid still given the situation but he might have wanted to console rocky. thats what dogs do because they are awesome!
Hopefully That poor dog will get adopted soon by a responsible person who cares about animals and will give him a good home environment and all the love he deserves
What a beautiful baby. I lost my houndog Jasper three weeks ago after a long battle with a chronic illness. I am heartbroken, but he lived a very long life as he was 16 years old. I shared that to say Jasper was a stray we found and decided to keep. I am not ready for another dog, but we do have a foster dog now, and I do find joy in helping a sweet baby find a home. Great work Mr. Rocky.❤❤❤❤

He’s such a good boy!! When I think back over the times Rocky sits with the most shut down dogs, when he starts talking to them and affirming all the good, positive things, I swear they understand what he’s saying and they respond to that. It’s a very different reaction to when he’s taking to us or some other human. WESLEY is a curious dog, but also cautious for whatever reason; he seems very aware of the camera like he may understand its connection to humans, he still isn’t real sure about it. I agree he’s one of the prettiest dogs I’ve seen there; it looks like someone put chocolate and Carmel sprinkles all over his feet, chest and tail. Thank you, Rocky, for all your committed sharing and talking!! You’re truly an inspiration.❤️🐾

I'm a cat person but I watch this channel all the time. I wanted to thank you for the work you do and wanted to thank Trint for being so gentle with Wesley. Good job you guys and I hope this dog finds a forever home 💖.
I lost my mother december 2022 to cancer. She was 82. A year later my father, sister and I wanted to post a in memoriam in the local newspaper, which I was going to design. I found a poem online which summed up exactly how we were feeling. It was in Dutch, but basically it said: We didn't lose the person we loved. For that they gave us too much. In everything we do and everything we are, they will always remain.

About the time I lost my 19 year old cat Anu, who was my first living being I ever took complete responsibility for. She's been with me through marriage and divorce, finding love again, having 2 kids, going through hell financially and lost of other highs and lows. I miss her like crazy. We've adopted 2 new cats last week (go to a shelter and have one without an eye and the other without a tail, couldn't leave them behind) because of your videos. Hearing you saying that you're emotional because someone close to you is going through stuff and I just wanted to give you some support, love and care you so generously bestow on all the dogs. We got you! You're not alone.

I’d be so shut down if I was suddenly incarcerated. I also have two cats, one of whom would show well in a shelter setting, and the other one who absolutely would not, despite both of them being absolutely lovable. It’s just that one is more extroverted and other more introverted.
I really feel for animals like this one that just don’t show well in a shelter environment. It’s super hard to be trapped in a strange environment with no one who loves you. Thanks for all you do, Rocky.
I have a rescue cat. I walked in to see one cat and they brought me a black cat that has been there the longest and she hated other cats. 6 years later she will sniff other cats and follows me from room to room. She needed a buddy and lots of space. But she didnt show well in a kennel. And black cats are the last to be adopted.
@@kathymc234 it’s so true that black cats are last to be adopted! Mine are a tortoiseshell (the one that would show well in a shelter) and a calico (the one who is momma’s girl and would not show well in a shelter environment). I can’t imagine how hard it would be to suddenly find yourself in a limited environment, and really feel for the animals that struggle with being so enclosed. So much of ones adoptability is about how friendly/outgoing they are in a shelter environment, and that just sounds awful to me.

He looks like an aussie mix. Aussies are so attached to their people (Velcro dogs). I can't imagine how traumatic this has been for him. Whoever adopts this sweetheart is going to get a loyal, loving and intelligent dog. They do need jobs to do, or they can get into mischief. My two aussies have made up their own jobs. One tattles on everyone who's misbehaving, and my deaf aussie likes to collect our chicken's eggs, and bring them into the house for us. He gets really stressed out if I do his job for him.
I hope Wesley gets an amazing family, who really loves him and has lots of time and patience for him.❤ He's precious!

My current rescue has been with me for over 2 years now. She is happy and confident and amazing. BUT she goes to an automatic rear leg lift the same as Wesley. Now, she absolutely loves belly rubs, so many who visit with her think that is what she is doing. I think it will always be part of her character. She is a wonderful loving dog. She was abused for the first several years of her life and that default submissive posture is understandable.

Our Shelter here in my home town is also so full. My husband and I donate dog and cat food regularly.
He looks so proud after getting all cleaned up, sitting there with his neckerchief... My little fur baby is from a shelter, we've had her since she was 7 months, she is going to be 9 in a few months. Took her a while to want to play with toys, but now OMG she loves walking around the house with them. I will always adopt from a shelter, giving those dogs a second chance. Secret is, you do need to give them time to adjust and settle on in to the family routine. He is so adorable. 💖
like you always say, patience is key. these dogs come from bad situations, and it takes time for them to open up and be themselves. just give it time.

He strikes me as quite different because this is the first time it seemed to me like he was judging you_ usually I feel like they come in wondering what they did to find themselves having been abandoned. It's so awesome that he landed with you😌
He knew he was surrounded by loving, and very caring humans, and it was such a relief and amazing feeling for him as he was staring onto those lush green open fields and other Happy horses. He saw heaven on earth and was ready peacefully and finally very happy, so he was prepared and ready to go HOME.

Haven’t watched this yet but wanted you to know that I took our animal shelter staff a bunch of candy for the employees and I visited the dogs. I walked in and the dogs all started barking. I clapped my hands and told everybody to sssush & I would get to them. They DID!!!! I was shocked! I did as I said and visited each pup. They waited patiently. I loved my time with them and gave each one positive affirmations. They stayed quiet except for one pup on the far end.
I’m 30 miles away and don’t get to town very often but I will attempt each time when they are open. Thanks for the ideas. ❤🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾

Their dad is VERY allergic to animals so none for them. They love going & always ask to go. Makes my heart happy! ❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾

Find volunteers to do this and share the videos.
Do they have or can they get volunteers whose job is specifically to boost their online presence via social media? People sharing posts to friends etc is often how dogs get adopted these days. Its also a better way to connect with people for donations or asking for volunteers whether its their time walking the dogs & cleaning kennels, or other skills ( admin, accounting, repairs etc).
I see the ones in the Houston shelters. I think most are put down. It's like a concentration camp. What are we, a 3rd world country. Really makes me sad.

Watched some of you sitting with dogs last night. You had a little senior dog that got a bath lots of love from you and passed the next morning. I had a beautiful border collie for 14 years that had to be put down a week ago. Her hips and back legs quit working; she was going blind and and if dogs get dementia she was going deaf to. You read some mail and encouraged us to give you there names that they might be a temp name for a dog. My precious fur baby was names Gracie; Gracie Girl; my Baby Girl; love bug. She was a beautiful black and white collie with white paws and an arrow of white one her forehead. I miss her so much I’m still so teary over it. Thank you for loving the precious animals. God Bless
Rocky is so patient and reassuring to these dogs on the brink of shut down. With enormous patience, he melts their fears away and renews their hope. I love the work he does.
Nugget has a little respiratory distress, too. Bless his heart. He is just lost in it all.

We appreciate everything you do for these pups. Losing our fur babies is the hardest thing ever. I still miss all my pups that have passed. I now have two Australian Cattle dogs (littermates and double trouble) that I adopted five years ago, and they watch your videos with me. Every time you say "You're a good boy" my boy's ears pop up like you're talking to him. LOL You are the best!
