That says a lot about his freakish stamina and also probably stronger than many people thought. If I'm not mistaken he shot almost 50% from the field that year. And with all kinds of physical defense allowed in that era, one had to wonder how did MJ ate everybody's lunch (or dinner :)) every night?
Robert Parrish said Jordan isn't the G.O.A.T cause the league wasn't as strong in the 90's...He practically had to win games on his own in the 80's with no help! Parrish got A free ring and front row seat watching M.J still can't believe these guys sometimes!
Who cares what he says though? He's not exactly an expert. Almost no one agrees with him. He has to be crazy to think Jordan isn't the GOAT or at least very close to it. He has to at least know Jordan is close is right there.
For those that were unaware, this game was actually Dr.J's final regular season appearance in Chicago and was honored before the game, and MJ dropped 56 points on the 76ers.
Just think about if MJ played under current rules(no hand checking). This version of Mike would've averaged 40+ points a game easily. He avg almost 38 a game being hand checked almost every possession, less talent around him, the game was more physical back then, and hard(or flagrant) fouls only sent you to the free throw line. And Michael was still balling!! The 1986-87 Michael Jordan would average about 45 pts in today's game. Don't forget, Michael couldn't(and wouldn't) shoot 3's back then.
elwin38 - I say this all the time. And it's not just the threes that I'm sure he'd practice and be great at. It's the constant free throws he'd get with all the fouls of today. People think Westbrook is ridiculous?
I watched mj, through college and NBA career, he's just 1year older than me and, back in the days, the NBA was way tougher and more physically tough plus, great teams in the east and west.
I love how it seems to be the current trend for ex pros to pick someone other than Jordan as the greatest player ever. Just watch 4 or 5 of his old games, and you can tell his games takes a shit on everyone before him (quicker, jumps higher, much more nimble, better skillset) and hasn't been rivaled since! Could you even imagine unleashing a primed up Jordan in today's game? Look at Hardens stats and then watch this video and compare him to MJ and he looks like a bum!
highflyer011 - seriously. It's not just the rule changes but the foul interpretations of today. All the top scorers live at the line because they ref bait. Their very games Dena on getting calls and some of their plays at the hoop are sometimes not even makeable shots. It's bullshit compared to what MJ did and had to deal with back then.
Whats funny is when you watch this shit. Its no debate at all that Mike is the best. I love Lebron. But this guy is clearly. Clearly the best. Real hoopers know.
Just watched this'n, Adam. I wonder what the Bulls would've done if not for that Oakley-Cartwright trade. Corzine was a big body and a rebounder, but that's the nicest way possible you could describe him as a bball player. However, Bill Cartwright was old or at least moved like it by the time that trade went down. Grant and Pippen panning out is what eventually got Mike that first title. At any rate, hope yer doin well, bloke. Hope your collection is still expanding. Lata! ATTN VIEWERS! This uploader here is a top quality bloke, don't forget it. Greatest Aussie since Steve Irwin. He's had so many AMAZING seasons that I have literally seen people make arguments for like 5 or 6 different seasons. Most say he was peak MJ at 90-91, but 87-88 is reasonable. I have heard others say 95-96 even because of the 72-10 bulls and the mvp, finals mvp, all star mvp. I mean the guy is unbelievable.
Right, because building and earning it like a deserving and undefeated champion should just form super teams because what does a challenge teach you, versus taking the express elevator.
I love how his body language be so nonchalant. Like he almost wanted to say. Hey I was blessed with this...It's not me it's a Gift!!
Can you imagine if Jordan of the 80's had a decent team behind him how many championships he might of won.
Seriously! Imagine if Showtime had drafted him instead of Magic?

And he was doing this before Scottie PIPPEN came in the league! And after PIPPEN got in the league!
That was physical defense back then, I'm still amazed of Jordan's greatness. In these days NBA is a jioke.
whoever had season tickets to these years in chicago got to enjoy a helluva show for a long time
effortlessly scoring 57 pts, dayum!
Jordan AVG. 37.5 PPG that year and only made 12 3s

Defining moment for MJ.

For those that were unaware, this game was actually Dr.J's final regular season appearance in Chicago and was honored before the game, and MJ dropped 56 points on the 76ers.
The most Jordan thing about this season was him scoring 53, 50 and 61 in 3 the of the last 4 games of the season to get his average to 37 ppg.
