I used to say MJ would avg 40-45 PPG in this era. I was wrong and I take it back. After watching more of his 87 and 88 season I think he'll avg 50 hands down. People think he can't do this on a nightly basis with today's modern defense and rules? Surround him with 3 pt shooters an open lane, no touch rules and he's gonna get 50 every night.
Watching games as a kid when they were announcing made the games even better. Jim Durham painted a picture of the game that kept you in the action. It was almost like listening to an old radio serial broadcast, he was an artist and wasn't over the top. Just something about the way he conveyed the information to the viewer/listener.
What a game to witness?!?! The crowd saw something spectacular that night. 26/27, breakaway dunks, the LEAN dunk and the crazy play when he made the record. And what I really appreciate is that he went fist bumping and screaming after that one play at the end of the game. Sorry but I cannot stand most of the today's best players (LBJ, Westbrook) flexing after every single semi-highlight play! Word! MJ's class cannot be touched ;)
Some good, classy comments by MJ in the great post game interview with Johnny Kerr. I'm so thankful I got to grow up not just watching MJ, the GOAT, play but that I also grew up during the Golden Age of the NBA. Count me as one who believes Jordan would average 40+ in today's Association. Maybe even approach 50 PPG.
I don't watch the Nerf Ball NBA Game that exists today. If only the NBA Individuals who "decided" to radically change NBA rules to boost Ratings, Ticket & Merchandise Sales after Michael Jordan retired, because there was NO ONE else who filled the Stadiums or whose NBA related merchandise sold anywhere even close to MJ ... perhaps the day will come when they return the Game to it's original splendor, when the game was played on both ends of the Court ... We can DREAM. I really can't believe they want to make even more changes in attempt to increase NBA Ratings+ to the days when the World wanted to watch Michael Jordan & The Chicago Bulls. 🤔🐐
Even more impressive than the play was that classy ass interview at that end. THIS is why ppl love MJ over LeBron and Im not talking accolades and achievements either.
37.1ppg. What a beast. I don't think there will be another player that could average like this, at thesame time being the best defensive player. Man, the crowd goes wild. The excitement he brings is unmatched. GOAT. Imagine him playing this era. He will be atleast 15 times on the freethrow a game.
Funny how in a lot of Jordan's great performances, he wasn't even "in the zone". He just manufactures points. It was the case for the 63 points at Boston. Here for example, he missed a lot of scoop shots that he usually makes at that time. But yet, he still scores 58. Crazy...but that's Jordan...
How old are you 15? What year do you think this games was played in? This is definitely pre 1988. The Bulls starting lineup is MJ,Gene Banks, Charles Oakley, Dave Corzine and John Paxson which should have been the giveaway right there plus the center jump circle hasn't been changed to the Bulls logo yet. The change to the logo at center court happened in 1988.
Funny thing is that this was probably when mj wasn't at his best. 89-93 and 95-98 are his best. He didnt have the jumper or passing hed later have at this point in his career. Though that means he's still better than anyone else at this time
sometimes we make comments like this to hopefully provoke a response from someone. Often because we're lonely. :( Hope things have gotten better for you in the past 2 years. I feel for ya. I've been there. (totally serious) Cheers!
Yeah, and then you have Jokic, who (literally) has gushes, cuts and bruises on his arms from all the hacking and fouling, and has 5 ft's a game on average. Bias? Hate against Serbia? Whites?

Word
The announcing was every bit as spectacular as Jordan's game.
RIP - Jim Durham and Johnny "Red" Kerr.
Jim Durham Superstar

He was so fast and quick. He would torch the game game today as he did then
Fucking amazing.
Jordan will remain my hero for the rest of my life.

Listen to the crowd! Only MJ can bring out the passion like that. No comparison, the greatest to ever play the game.
Its so nice to see these games on TH-cam. I listened to many of MJs games on Radio.

There is no era in league history, where Michael Jordan would not be the best player in the league.
@isedairi The game is 1987. But the game was a rebroadcast and I liked the intro so i thought i'd add it. Hope you liked the game.
Do you have this game in full? Would really like a copy - thanks!
Jordan was averaging five steals a game let that marinate Jordan is the goat of goats
Even more impressive than the play was that classy ass interview at that end. THIS is why ppl love MJ over LeBron and Im not talking accolades and achievements either.
Jordan continues to be the gold standard by which basketball excellence is judged. Even 24 years after his 6th ring.
Agreed. I think sporting excellence in general.

Air Magic - this is so true. He would just grind out 30 points on so many nights like it was nothing - and not in the zone.
That guy had many QUIET 40 point games. I sometimes looked at the box score at the end of the game and wondered, "when did that happen?"
How you average 37 with no 3 point shot... that’s crazy
Pax was the PERFECT compliment to Mike
Rip Orlando Woolridge
Jason. Terry
A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP (STRAIGHT UP)
6:27 did he slap the ref on the bum? Legend
HE DID! I about lost it when I saw that! He evenbumped the other OG Ref and was jawing back an forth with him. MJ is so damn gangsta.
And towards the end of the half too. Love that little extra.
@Sentenza233 still, this is pretty amazing....it is almost like his sophomore season (the 2nd
year injury)
MJ the GOAT
Lol yeah and some people actually think this dude would not average 50 a game in today's era.
Q: What's the next for MJ ?
A: "The World Championship" ... Yeahhh!!
OMG what a showcase. Orlando had game too.
yeah, orlando waz trill out there 💪
even the refs dapped up Jordan

And he smacks the ref on the ass.
chicago stadium in the late 80s was the best show on earth
You see how tough the defense during those era.
This intro segment is from after the Bulls' 1991 championship but the game itself is from 1987????
“If I didn’t have my teammates setting me up, I swear I couldn’t do it all.”
That interview at the end was pure class
Damn I got so bummed out when he didn’t hit the 20th Ft lol
You know the guy is a legend when the gives the referee high five during the game and no one objected.
Funny thing is that this was probably when mj wasn't at his best. 89-93 and 95-98 are his best. He didnt have the jumper or passing hed later have at this point in his career. Though that means he's still better than anyone else at this time
91 was his absolute APEX.
(to my eyes)
Jordan was getting 40 while being contested there's no way he couldn't avg 10+ per quarter Bird and Nique as well in todays game
Jordan on the drive, in from the left, scoops the shot.
Class act in the interview at the end. LeBron could never.
Rent free
Fun Fact:Michael Took more free throws than shots this game.
Always deferring credit. Mike got it at such a young age.
greatest defender plus
....and he was pulled out early. Just think about that
GOAT
58 points record for bulls... but he already scored 63 vs boston earlier. how come?
Regular season record at that time
LeBron's good but no MICHAEL JORDAN
could you load the entire game
Best player ever.
Worst GM ever.
Saved one Franchise.
Destroyed two.
@3:26.... Right on target....
Mj the Goat

Sedale Threat @ 5:27 wit the no look smh lol he over was looking for a highlight lol
The announcers had a premonition…56?!
why would jordan pump his fist after a free throw to tie the game at 3?
@Tara Willis. He always has the passion and will to win. He was like no other...
@@senecanicholson1090 no thats not the answer honey
1:53
Ok, sarcasm doesn't work in youtube...
After these comments I hope y’all zip his pants back up when you finished geesh 😂😂
He sure does get a lot of calls, kind of weird .
Not weird at all. Every star player gets calls.
Who's this Jordan guy? Where's LeBron?Why don't I have Wide Screen???🙄👎SMH....
8:48 you believe me - no he wasnt.
How much of it was that Michael was that great or the Nets were that bad? It has to be some combination of both.
Love MJ but 27 free throws?! That's a lot
They fouling you see how fast he is lol
Yeah, and then you have Jokic, who (literally) has gushes, cuts and bruises on his arms from all the hacking and fouling, and has 5 ft's a game on average. Bias? Hate against Serbia? Whites?
nobody wants to compare lebrons hairlind?lol
What do you mean?
They are all on roids. For years. Jokic is doing better, and he is natural. Obviously.
What's next for Jordan?? "A world championship"... how bout 6
Lol this guy was fouling out there best players. It was like he was counting their fouls.
at least the intro, hahhaa
Bald derozan
The refs gave him every call
Unhuman
This obviously can't be 1987...
only it is
