    I have a 2015 freewheeler I absolutely love it. I would say a little under powered but a cam woke it up. Lots of fun to ride.

    Thanks Doc. The Freewheeler rear section is what I need. I’ve been researching the aftermarket lift kit and shock absorber upgrade. I’ve seen the videos for that project by laying on the ground and removing the body. So I want to be confident that I can do the job correctly. Do you think the supplement would be the best in my situation?

    Sad I always road two wheels , At only 53 , I have a back fusion , pad cloged arterial desease , 3 catharasations , geeez man I cant ride my 08 road king no more Im so sad But Im just going to buy a trike , I know i'm not going to be around for long , but in the mean time Im going in the wind with my trike life is unfair some times

      AFTER 2 TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENTS AND A BOUT WITH NEUROPATHY IN MY ANKLE I TRADED MY '18 ROAD KING IN FOR AN '18 FREEWHEELER. JUST HAD TO GET BACK IN THE WIND. THE TRIKE IS EASIER TO DRIVE, SLOW SPEED MANEUVERING IS A SNAP AND THE BIG PLUS IS YOU DONT -EVER- PUT YOUR FEET DOWN (SUPPORT THE 1,000 LBS OF ROAD KING) ONCE YOU CLIMB ON. I WOULD SUGGEST CHECKING THE USED ONES OUT BEFORE STEPPING INT THE BIG NOTE FOR A NEW ONE. GOD BLESS YOU, HANG IN THERE. - DAN

    Hey Doc, I have a question about the HD service manual. I have a 2017 Freewheeler and made an inquiry about the service manual for my model year. As you well know, in the old days the manuals were very vehicle specific but it seems nowadays they are more generic in what they apply to.(cost affective, I get that). My parts department guy said the service manual covers Freewheelers and Tri-Glide. $170.00 ! I don't want to pay for information that I have no need to know. I was told that there is a supplement that is vehicle specific for the 2017 Freewheeler. ( also in the $170. range). So my actual question is, can the average shade tree mechanic (me) get by with just the supplement ? P.S. I know that I can get online and download PDF files I but prefer the actual book. Thanks, Doc.

      Wow, great question but difficult to answer. A touring 2017 Service Manual handles 80% of the service needs of your bike. But it will not cover the rear trike servicing or adjustment that are only for the Trike family.
      I feel your concern with funding.
      I bit the bullet with my Slim with Service Manual, Electrical Diagnostic Manual and Parts Manual. ( peanut butter and jelly for lunch for a good long time….. but worth it) I too prefer book. Note: now at HD school they make us use Tablets 😢…..Doc

    I just bought a 2015 FLHTCUL with 4k miles on it....tires are originals from the factory, should I change them out?? I've heard that tires should be replaced every 5 yrs, regardless of miles on them. Just curious if that's true

    Does the trike axle itself need any maintenance?

    • @chriss42691
      @chriss42691 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      terahz1 great question I know that there is a grease zirk fitting on the rear differential But the owners manual has no info on it. I also have the service book no info in that too. Hopefully doc Harley can help.

    • @LowCountryHarleyDavidson
      @LowCountryHarleyDavidson  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In our training, we are informed that the zerk fitting is only greased during assembly at the factory.

    Doc Harley I have a question about charging systems and heated gear vs heated grips. I called my local Harley Davidson dealership hear in Portland Oregon about heated grips on my wife`s sportster. now first off I have been an electrician over 40 years I understand ohms law and DC theory what I don't understand is why the parts guy said never to put heated grips on my lovely wife`s sportster he says the charging system cant handle the load. she has a complete heated liners, socks, pants, jacket and gloves and she cant stand riding with them on she says its just to bulky and makes it to uncomfortable to ride. she says all she wants is to dump everything and just put on heated grips. now the watts on the socks is 20, pants is 45 gloves is 30 and the watts on the jacket is 65. with a total of 160 watts her sportster has a 30 amp 405 max watt output stator I have changed every light on her bike to LED so the load has dropped dramatically and with all her heated gear we have been riding for years this way and have never had a chagrining system problem. so what is the problem

    • @LowCountryHarleyDavidson
      @LowCountryHarleyDavidson  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have consulted with our electrical Master Tech. If your wife’s XL is fuel injected it can handle Harley-Davidson heated grips
