I have had one of these for 4 or 5 years. And overall, I am pretty pleased. I did discover, that it doesn’t do real good on Blu Rays though. It actually ruined two Blu Rays. By taking off that special protective coating Blu Rays have, making them completely unplayable.
That being said, one other area this machine could improve? A quick release to swap the discs out quicker somehow. Having to put each disc on and off by turning that white center ring thing, is super time consuming after a day of 100 discs. Best case scenario, would be to have three of these machines. Where you could leave the same pads on each one. And just run the discs on the respective cycle with each pad variation. This is where that quick release would be handy. So you could swap the discs in and out super quick. With that minor change, this could easily be the best machine on the market for disc repair. 🤔🤔🤔

Bro don’t put the disc back in a pile after you fix the scratches, that defeat the purpose of the fixing. Grab a thicc book and put the discs in between the pages so that don’t get scratched again. Every time the discs slide in the pile it gets more scratches.

Do Disc Sleeves, Disc Storage Boxes/Organizers, and Certain Boxes (for example, a Blu Ray or DVD box) count?

To maximise your time, in the 2 minutes that it takes the machine, you could be taking pictures and maybe listing them. That way you wont be so bored.

You should be placing the used pads in a sealed bag to not dry them out.

@@common_lad I've seen some people giving the pads a quick spray of distilled water before running so they were less dry/abrasive

Awesome video! Definitely put the JFJ to the test👍🏻

  • @HFOfficial

Just checking if a disc boots is not nearly enough testing imho. What you want to do is, for 360 discs, use the install feature, and if it can install the entire disc, it means all the data is readable. Likewise, copying the data from other discs on a pc should tell you the same info. If it can't copy all the data, it means there's still unreadable data on the disc, and it may need more work.
If this is truly the level of testing resellers do, idk if i can trust them, man.

Hi, I had my JFJ for a long time. Aren't you supposed to use sanding discs in each cycle? Also, I have some
CD's that won't play and they look perfect. Does the disc eventually lose a start-up track after so many years of buffing? JFJ has terrible customer service. They don't supply specific parts, either! The disc hold down mechanism that holds the disc to buff pad, will break. I fixed it with epoxy and nuts/bolts. Now, the machine has trouble buffing the disc surface completely. I might have to move to a better constructed machine! I've fixed enough CDs to have paid for the JFJ many times over but, I guess JFJ doesn't have the longevity!

you shouldnt have to grind each disc. firstly buff your discs for 20 seconds. see how it looks. test it. you can judge from there if you need to let it buff for 1-2 minutes. then go ahead and grind if need be. grinding is a last resort. i only do it when there are deep scratches that are so bad that the game isnt running properly or at all. and yes, there a few instances a game just is no good. if you are grinding wrong, or too long, the disc will warp and even if they look good, it will be quite difficult to fix. some games are simply defective. their time is just up. some discs are damaged on the top, meaning the info is scratched, so it will never work no matter what. same with a split from the centre that goes all the way to the info.

Do you resell games with reproduction cases or only original? I am reselling a lot of videogames and have the option to buy the right color cases but they will be missing the logo. Does that hurt the value reselling them?

I know you made this a while back, hoping you will still see this and be able to answer my question haha.
Did you do all of these in one day? I have heard that this machine will melt the discs if you dont give it an appropriate break in between. I just got mine in and have about 300 discs to resurface. I want to knock them out asap, but i dont want to ruin any of them if it can be helped.
    Great video! Thanks!

I just got mine and I'm about 20 games in 1st day and you really won't melt anything, also the time it takes to open, check the disc, change the pad and or add the drop of compound it would cool down ...also there's a 2 min button which probably would mess it up hitting it with the sand pand 2x .... I'm also using the one that came with it and mine hasn't been eaten down like his so he might be burning that pad?

Hey I’ve started selling and just got my first 2 sales this week. I noticed in one of your videos when you used price charting you didn’t have the prices in Canadian. Then when you went to list your games you referenced the American price as your buy it now price. I was wondering why you do that? Wouldn’t you earn more money if you listed the games at their Canadian prices? Thanks

They should be able to be sanded down and buffed.
Ps1 games are on CD media so the data should be on the label side.

you are buffing too long. not every disc needs that. especially if they are cheap discs. you are also wasting too much product. i clean 70 to 100 discs a day. omg in the beginning it stressed me out. and i would not even grind any games until i was 1000% sure the game didnt work first. because if you dont know how to use them, say goodbye to your games. almost all your games at the end should work. it is very rare for a disc not to work. unless you grinded incorrectly.
