Some other young pianists play this on their concert after Hamelin, but nobody excutes this natural, flawless rubato. His understanding of musical timing is phenomenal.
Absolutely adore this! Compared to the older recording of Hamelin playing this piece, it's interesting to hear the differences in speed and articulation. In the older recording he tended to insert more pauses and accentuate more places in the song, while this version is a lot more flowy and very legato. Extremely well done!!
What a fresh outlook to the wonder of being unfettered from the tugs of the tonic! You move on from one key to the other! Like anything eminent and great, it demands from me some exertions. I did listen to it a few times, and then I could say it is so beautiful…!!!
Modulations sensibles du rythme et de l'intensité sonore, tout le contraire de ce que les médias modernes valorisent. Une pépite, comme tout ce que ce touche M. Hamelin.
Opus Posthumous, thanks so much for this! Yes, I found the 2009 version just a tad fast. Tho I will listen to either...MAH makes a piano shimmer with this beautiful song!
@UCRIn2zvkpgnwSN02Zz2PRRg Francis Mohr ,Horowtiz' tuner and technician explained to me how his pianos were prepared. Especially in the treble registers. Voldoja was a shrude man and a bit of a cheat. Precisely for this reason I never liked him. Good marketing and sales man..have to give him that. Catering to the mediocre American mind with Stars and Stripes etc.etc. you know what I mean.
también la conocí por ese video de Iker jajaja, incluso la llegué a aprender y tocar de principio a fin pero ya pasó un tiempo y se me olvidó por completo, y en esta ocasión la memoria muscular no me acompaña jaja.
0:56 I for some reason can't help but giggle at how charming this sounds
it melt my heart...so beautifull
Cette musique fait montre de tant de sensibilité. Tant de placidité...
C'est sublime. Bravo.

I think I even prefer this to his 2009 Gstaad version...

I would say that as he is getting older, likewise, he is getting better musically, and so it was with Vladimir Horowitz.
MAH has always been better than charlatan Horowitz with his pre-pared piano.Hoooroowiiitzz....eees my octaavess betha than heees?

Thanks for this wonderful performance of my Charles Trenet songs.
Dicen que nueve años después en Brasil…
I wonder if this performance based on the newly published score from Muse press.

Die Komposition recht einfach gestrickt, nahe am Edelkitsch, aber Hamelin spielt souverän und meisterhaft.
