In this video, we dive into one of the most controversial releases from Watches and Wonders this year: the Oyster Perpetual Rolex Deepsea in 18k yellow gold, featuring a Cerachrom bezel insert in blue ceramic and an Oyster bracelet. This groundbreaking timepiece is the first Rolex deep-sea divers' watch in 18k yellow gold, paired with ceramic and RLX titanium elements, showcasing Rolex's expertise in materials and colors.
After the practical lightness of titanium in the Yacht-Master 42 RLX Titanium in 2023, Rolex has surprised everyone with the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Deepsea 136668LB in 18k yellow gold. This release is unexpected for several reasons:
    1. **Shift in Design Philosophy**: In recent years, Rolex has moved away from the flashy styles of the ’90s and ’00s, focusing instead on functionality and conceptual integrity. This evolution brought about new watches in RLX Titanium and gold models with durable Oysterflex elastomer straps, alongside advancements in movement technologies and durability.
    2. **Bold New Features**: The new Deepsea model defies this trend with its 3,900m (12,800ft) water resistance and 44mm-wide dive watch encased in 18k yellow gold. It features a massive 18k yellow gold bracelet, making it incredibly heavy and reminiscent of styles popular in 2004, though we are now in 2024, with evolved collector tastes. The question remains: would anyone actually go diving with this luxurious timepiece?
    3. **Yacht-Master II Discontinuation**: During Watches & Wonders Geneva 2024, we learned that the Yacht-Master II collection has been discontinued. Despite this, there is still a strong market for large gold watches, and this new configuration meets that demand. The Submariner has been available in gold for over 50 years, but its slimmer design makes it more wearable than the Deepsea.
    4. **Innovative Design Elements**: The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Deepsea has dropped the Sea-Dweller designation. The inner Ringlock high-performance compression ring system is now made from Cerachrom ceramic, perfectly matching the blue Cerachrom bezel exclusive to gold and two-tone Rolesor watches. The dial text features a gold-gilt-like color that contrasts beautifully with the yellow gold case.
    5. **Comfort and Functionality**: To offset the watch's considerable weight, the caseback is crafted from RLX titanium. The massive 18k yellow gold Oyster bracelet incorporates ceramic inserts, making it more supple and resistant to stretching. It includes the Oysterlock safety clasp with a Rolex Glidelock tool-free 20mm extension system made from solid 18k gold.
    6. **Advanced Movement**: Powered by the Rolex Caliber 3235, this watch boasts 3,900m (12,800ft) water resistance, a 70-hour power reserve, and features the Chronergy escapement, Parachrom hairspring, and Paraflex shock absorbers. The caseback, made from RLX Titanium, offers a surprising yet fitting combination with the 18k yellow gold.

It’s a trophy watch. Retirement watch. A watch that can go 2 miles down the ocean. If a person has completed a really, significant task or event this is a great commemorative watch. Not an every day watch but one for special occasions. To wear at special events. It is rare and with over a pound of gold on the wrist reminds you it is not an ordinary watch it is very, very special. It’s not a gold day/date and it’s not a gold Daytona. The person that buys THIS watch probably has the President and Daytona in their collection. This is why it is hard for most people to understand, because the person that buys it is buying it for themself and not for everyone else.

I'm a sat diver. I couldn't afford it even if I wanted it. No sat diver would ever wear that subsea digging holes under pipelines to install slings. It would get absolutely destroyed on the weight coat. What an absolutely pointless watch.

It’s not a pointless watch. There are collectors who cannot even swim, much less dive that absolutely MUST HAVE THAT WATCH. There are collectors that own Breitling 18k solid gold pilots watches that don’t know how to fly a plane. Panerai makes dive watches. I don’t know of a single collector who owns them that also knows how to swim. Rolex, with the Deepsea in 18k took this to an even more insane level of collecting by making an extreme dive watch in solid 18k gold that you will not dive with. This watch will never see a drop of water. But, for bragging rights you can wear it and walk down the street smoking a cigar and pass by your buddies on the sidewalk and think to yourself “mine’s bigger than yours”. Hope you got the point

These AI videos are well done but is there a way you can have a human review that corrects the horrible mispronunciations? Especially on Rolex-specific words. It really makes the video unwatchable.
