i love watches....i have one that belonged to my late grandfather,manufactured in 1962...GUB(Glasshutte Urhen Betriebe) if I wrote it correctly.still works. I used to be a collector, but I liquidated my collection to venture into real estate. In January, I acquired homes in Malibu for $34 million, and the returns on investment far exceed what I earned as a collector.
Not Urhen but rather Uhren....the word is German for "watches." How did you grow your portfolio to $45m, I'm impressed, I have a lump sum in the bank, the rates are not impressive so I'm moving it, whats your cash flow like?
I have a financial advisor (trader) she grows my liquid assets and I reinvest the weekly payouts back into real estate and long-term ETFs.

Over 20 years ago I bought a new watch, didn't go crazy but for my love of motor racing I paid over $1100 for a Tag Heuer. Six years later it was not working properly so I took it in to be fixed and was told the repair would cost $500 and change. I thought this watch would have lasted forever so I took it home put it on the garage floor and smashed it with a hammer. No more fancy watches for me, $200 tops and when it's done it's done and I buy another.
I bought a Tissot 28 years ago. Serviced it once

I bought $7 watch 9 years ago. Except the batteries that have been replaced multiple times, the watch is still working

I should add, about 25 years ago, I was roller blading down a steep hill going way too fast to a point where the blade chasse was not managing the wheels firmly and they actually did a fast wobble. I wiped ...and no kidding... my Tissot saved my left wrist from likely being busted.

@@rupertrobinson7085 Because in reality they are crap. They are built for showcasing fancy engineering rather than to be worn as watches. It's impractical to wear a glass ball that protrudes like a tumor. One bump against a hard surface and $1 million is gone. A watch is no good if it's built to only sit in a safe.

Patek Phillipe has a lovely watch (the Ellipse) with a very simple, uncluttered dial. It has small diamond markers at 12, 3, 6 and 9 and the hour and minute hands, period. No fuss, no mess. The shape of the Ellipse is not an ellipse, but close to the super-egg shape, which is, mathematically, half way between an ellipse and a rectangle.

My daily watch is a 14K Gold 1964 Omega Seamaster De Ville automatic, given to me by my first girlfriend
My grail would be a rose gold Glashutte Original PanoReserve. Used at about $17,000. Secondly an A. Lange Model 1815, also in rose gold, used about $25,000.

My favourite brand is Casio and my favourite Casio is the F-91W. It's affordable, reliable, accurate, tough, retro cool, comfortable and it sits in that niche LCD digital category. It's the greatest watch in the history of horology.

Unfortunately I cannot say which make is my favourite...because I'm just not is this league. The watches shown are stunning and amazing as far as workmanship goes. One reason or another I never had a "thing " for Rolex and being addicted to blue, prefering as thin as possible, it will make the decision for me 🙃

I thought I knew most of the luxury brand watches, it was at least 4 I never heard of before...thx I think I like the Patek best, RMs looks cheaper than their price point...Jacob watches looks delicate, for the money, they're probably not, but just by looks...Rolex looks plain, and have no sex appeal..😅 all pretty nice tho 👌

I had Tissot watch two decades ago. I bought this for $200 at that time here in the Philippines. I used to wear this regulary for 10 years but suddenly its stainless strap broke in the lock area due to 'wear and tear' but I was able to still wear this. Later on the back case popped-out and this no longer fits or locks into the watch. The local repairman said it is no longer repairable. Now, I decided to buy cheaper watches. I also had a Guess watch I bought in the US shopping mall 28 years ago for less than $100. I wore it for a while but I kept on replacing its leather strap because it easily wears out. So, I stopped using it and kept it in my cabinet for about 2 decades. After 28 years, I decided to have it checked and replaced its battery. To my surprise it is still working and its leather strap is still wearable. I have only about a dozen watches in my collection of cheaper brands such as Kenneth Cole, Fossil, Casio, Festina, etc. I am satisfied wih these watches since I cannot afford the expensive ones.
I do like a Festina. I have a few watches like Casio, Citizen, Omega Bulova, but my daily watch is a Breitling Super Avenger II 48. I'm an engineer and find its robustness great as I am somewhat clumsy! My prized watch is a simple Casio which cost my wife £25, 35 years ago. The sentimental value to me is priceless. I have never had a Tissot but have always admired them. This may be my next purchase.

Have to Agree..Patek Philippe, quietly elegant, discretely expensive and never "flashy/bling", just sheer class. However I have for years longed to replace an iconic, Cartier Santos Dumont, stolen in a house burglary, some 32 years ago....
Of the brands mentioned, Patek is my favorite, but they left out Corum. The Corum Admiral’s Cup and their $20 gold piece watch are amongst my favorites. They go for about $20K each.
