    I’m old and living in Holland I was lucky enough to talk (in Dutch) to Max Euwe in 1977. He was in the club in Amsterdam and to my amazement and sheer joy he agreed to play a few speed games with me. 6-0 I lost but it was an incredible experience and he was so polite and humble. He took the world title off Alekhine but lost it to Alekhine in the return match (Above). He beat Alekhine in the first game (Alekhine pulled the black pawn above and lost the first game with black but came back fighting and won the match) Max Euwe, a world champion, wonderful human being and a gentleman both on and off the board.

      Не верю. Сколько я просил гроссмейстеров сыграть со мной - они лишь отворачивались. В лучшем случае - вежливо отказывались.

    Max Euwe was active in FIDE.
    He was good author of chess books and good instructor too. His approach towards chess game was unique and his contributions were immense.

      Bob Radford True and of all the world champions when it came to “fiendish complications” he was the king. (And morphy and Tal very very close seconds)

      Alekhine was a coward, chickenshit, drunkard, womanizer, loser, and most of all just plain yella. Capablanca shouldn't gotten a rematch

      @@thejupiter1744 Nothing complicated about Morphy's play at all. ONLY Tal went into myriad complications, and much better than the swine Alekhine

    Both were true gentlemen, but Alekhine's voice and accent are so funny.

    Alekhine was a racist and wanted only white world champions. Read about it. That's why Euwe was chosen by him.

    • @unbiasedgr
      @unbiasedgr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Which is absolutely hogwash of course! There weren't any non - white "world champions" at Alekhine's time! I doubt if there were any non white strong players to challenge for a world championship match at all!
