Just randomly came up on my feed. Really loved this. I kept up with both of them at this pace until they had 8 pieces each. Then it all went a bit fuzzy..🤣 Loved chess at school, joined local club and enjoyed the competition. Tried to teach my Son the rudimentaries and he took it up also as a child. Very subtly but brilliantly played by Kasparov. Just patiently using his material advantage to box his opponent in. This match perfectly illustrates the power of a rook and bishop together against a less dynamic combination.

7:23 Incredible show of Kaprov's experience and learnings from his mentor Baristotrov. Moving horsie to prawn rook 7 and denying Kasparov's Mandalorian defence he'd spent the whole game building! Wild stuff.

How did Kasparov switch his rook and king like that at 02:35? I'm only learning how to play, but I absolutely love it so far. I know he's moving it out of check, but I wouldn't of thought that switch was possible. They are literally going over each other.
16th game of 1990 match. A very important victory which gave the lead to Gary after 13 games without a single victory for him. Karpov drew again de match in the 17th, but collapsed in 18 and 20 games
How efficient was Kasparov's endgame? Did he miss opportunities to end the game sooner? It looked highly efficient to me, but not good enough to be sure...
Well I'm sure that if you put it through Stockfish 16 you would see some inhuman combination that he " might" have done but since we are human after all + on the most stressful event of his life and quite possibly low on time then I would say that his endgame was very efficient indeed.
mate on the board. the white pawn was on a dark square so karpov’s bishop couldn’t touch it, effectively eliminating the h6 and f6 squares as places to run to safety, and the white rook and bishop we’re going to force the king into the corner where it would be checkmate
I’m 1300 Elo, but I’ll try… Rc8, kg7,be5,kh7,rh8 mate The same but lose your horsey with a pin and win after king moves to 8th rank, and then mate. Rc8,kh7,be5 threatening mate, only move is kg7 which is pinned so kf8 would win the piece Don’t laugh if that’s wrong, that took me ages to work out😂 Edit: it’s black to move 🤣🤣ignore all that, I’m not doing it again

9:03 is when Karpov lost this game, had he moved his pawn forward instead of the knight, it would have been a totally different story
Totally nailed it ! I still don't get the move , why? It is like he got disturbed by the clock or stress
O fator psicológico foi crucial nesse lance. Eu acho que ele estava apreensivo com o tempo!
I don't understand why he did Nd3 instead of pawn to d3 either. I need to see analysis for this

El mejor fue Fisher pero se volvió loco muy pronto y dejó de jugar. Kasparov dominó por más de 20 años y tal vez fue el más dominante e influyente.

I am low elo but wow the patience and finesse from Kasparov!!
As soon as I saw that queen exchange I brought some food, water and my toothpaste and shaver nearby, put the phone on the charger.
Masterpiece of the chess game
On 9:10, how could Karpov miss the most important Pawn there? Why giving a useless check?
At 6:09, the pic of the video, wouldn’t g4-g5 be a great move? Or am I missing something.
Que agresivo Kasparov
Me encantó
Y Karpov tremendo defensor

It’s called castle/castling…he’s not “in check” so he’s allowed to do it. Look it up if you need a better explanation

some of those moves were so bizarre not taking the rook , allowing pawns to be taken

On 12:27 why Kasparov didnt move Tower to corner? 🧐

Quem venceu ??
Nicer game.
Bei manchen Zügen von Karpov kann ich nur den Kopf schütteln. Was macht der da nur, kann gar nicht glauben, dass der Mal lange Schachweltmeister war.
Crazy how both were 2700-2800 in 1990 and considered the very best, while Fischer was 2785 in 1970💀

Kasparovs patience is legendary 🫶
¿Why Karpov sacrified the roke?
Having rook slow play
I don't know why Karpov sacked the exchange rook for a bishop on b1. That's how he lost eventually.
Very aggressive game.
At 4:14, if Kasparov moves the bishop to the lower right square below the king, given the rook’s position, how is this not a checkmate?

Anatoly Karpov is Greatest but why he took this long in the end
why didn't kasparov fork the bishop and rook with kd3 at 07:26? Because he would've been left with a bishop and king vs a rook and king?

I don't get the ending. Black resigned? Why? Why not a draw?
