Mallrats | Brodie Introduces TS to Jay & Silent Bob

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 18 พ.ย. 2022
- While at the mall, Brodie (Jason Lee) tries to get TS’s (Jeremy London) mind off of Brandi (Claire Forlani), but a stage is being constructed in preparation for Brandi’s dad’s game show. However, they run into Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) and convince them to sabotage the game show.
Film Synopsis:
From Kevin Smith, the acclaimed director of Clerks, comes this outrageous story of two loafers, Jeremy London and Jason Lee, who spend way too much time hanging out at the mall. When Brodie (Lee) is dumped by his girlfriend, Shannen Doherty, he retreats to the mall with his best friend TS (London), whose girlfriend has also left him. Between brooding and visits to the food court, the unmotivated twosome decide to win their girlfriends back with the help of the ultimate delinquents, Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) and Jay (Jason Mewes), whose continuing adventures take the word "nuisance" to a whole new level.

“Is that it? We were gonna do that anyway” 😂😂😂
LOVE Kevin Smith films from the 90's!
A shame he's such a hollywood sellout douche now!!!
“i heard he even has 2 kills” that’s funny
I can't believe I'd ever miss malls. Social interaction is down the toilet.
Agreed. It was a great way to meet people and to find stuff that you liked.
My favorite place to go was Suncoast Videos.
@@reikun86 That plus Orange Julius, Record Stores, Toyy R Us, Spencer Gifts...
Don’t forget the video store where they always knew what flick you wanted
you want to be like these people in real life?
Haha! Me, too. This was filmed at Eden Prairie Center, in Eden Prairie, MN. Being a Minnesotan, I've been there many a time. That being said, I haven't been there in several years. If you really think about it, I guess it's our faults for not going to malls anymore.
Spent so much time in the 90s staring at those pictures, great times
I remember looking through many books. I always crossed my eyes to get to see it.
I just noticed that Ben Affleck is looking directly at Brodie in the first couple of frames of this shot and turns his head when he's literally one step from him in order to 'bump' into him. Glad they didn't need a stunt double for this action scene.
"from some foolish carpenter" is my favorite movie line of all time.
I've only just noticed this after being a fan of the film since it was released. Sublime.
hahaha me too.
IKR?
“They look happy, don’t they?”
“What..the bras?” 😂😂
To be fair to Willem I could never see those magic eye pictures either.
I paused it and looked. It's not a sail boat...it's just a bunch of different shapes. Cubes, spheres, pyramids, etc.
Me either
I would sometimes have to cross and uncross my eyes to see em
it's just geometry, nothing that interesting.
I could never see them, but my bastard little brother was like T.S and could see them straight away
Didn’t remember that Earl and Randall interacted in Mallrats. ❤️
The grey shirt guy is the most 90s looking dude ever, the attire and everything pretty much sums up the entire decade lmao
We had the best fashion

God i miss the 90's
They were truly great times. When the world didn't 100% revolve around the internet😂
I was thinking the exact same thing. As I sit here on the internet. Gahd how things have changed
Everyone misses the 90's.
Yes sir was a great time
Me Too. 90s has the best movies
I cant imagine Seth Green playing Jay's role
Seth and his friend Breckin Meyer (Clueless, Road Trip, Franklin & Bash) both auditioned for Jay, but they both saw Clerks, and they knew they couldn't play such a larger-than-life character, and Mewes didn't even go to acting school. So they sabotage their own audition.
Jason is Jay
@@Madbandit77they sabotaged their audition for jay? Respect
'Some foolish carpenter'
True story, it's not even a sailboat. Back in the day, when I had this on VHS, yes VHS, I managed to pause it and look. It's like a sphere and a cone and something else. Been a bit since I've tried, but definitely not a schooner.
Never noticed the “Gerbils, Gerbils, Gerbils” sign before 😂
100% a Richard Gere reference.
@@negativeindustrial he never actually did that though... hollywood blacklisted him for defending Tibet
this scene is so brilliantly written and does not get near enough credit
Foreshadowing...A man and his monkey 😂
The sack taps at the end always kill me.
Silent Bob staring into the future I Phone.
I love how everyone, including Jay & Silent Bob, look 100% more bathed than Jason Lee's character!
✋💥 knock it off. 🤣
not even a sailboat lol
I know. Just a bunch of shapes.
There is no sailboat. Only geometric shapes. A couple partial spheres and a plus sign. No sailboat
It’s a SCHOONER
Just a half circle and pyramid and other odd shapes.
No boat
You just broke everyone who saw those
Love this movie
I'm amazed how long the shot is when this starts. So many things to go wrong and ends with him hitting a bar. Timing mastery.
I don't know why, but when he says "foolish carpenter" I think that's just really clever writing. my favorite line.
"That guy's faster than Walt Flannigan's dog!"
It's not a sailboat. It's odd 3d shapes, about twelve of them. The bottom row are kinda like trees from above, the middle are circular, and the top vary.
"why can't they remake good shows from the 70s?"
If only we knew what the future held
just add good remakes LOL
It's not a sailboat but I won't spoil it for anyone.
I was about to say that. Think shapes.
It’s a schooner
I was about to say that too! I'm bored enough to actually pause it and look at it. A) I'm impressed it worked and B) I'm really shocked that it wasn't a sail boat!
@@joltman81disappointed personally
In the movie it is a sailboat idk why this is changed
Eden Prairie Center has undergone several remodels since this was filmed, but even now I recognize some of those walkways.
can't believe I use to work in that Mall back in the late 80's
3:49 Just had a mini heart attack thinking that guy just slapped dude's phone out of his hand straight to the floor 💀💀💀
How high are you? 😆
Huge fan of this movie
The cast commentary was just as if not more fun to listen too
Affleck is underrated with his witt & off the cuff remarks on kevins lack of self awareness
I became a Affleck fan because of the commentary of this film. Brilliant
@@robertfloyd3081 I'm kinda alone on my thoughts with jersey girl & Zach and Miri being underrated comedies
@@dumpchangepants no I’m with you!

It’s nice seeing Earl and Randy branching out of the motel.
How does Brodie not know about LaFours in his own mall? I sure hope someone got fired over that one
2:42 the shining reference
Kittens and smoking in the mall. I miss the good old days.
Beat part of going to the mall
I love how Willem and Brodie would later become Earl and Randy
To this day I'm still saying "chocolate covered cookie" lol
What’s awesome is that the 3D picture is actually a 3D picture. And a crappy one at that! Lol. I still have my 80’s superpower of 3D poster seeing!
It's not a "sail boat" though... Why couldn't they just have said that it's some shapes or got one that is ACTUALLY a sail boat? 😅
@@paulpesci1 did they say it was a sail boat? Yeah it’s certainly not! Lol.
@@cbrown9294
Lol, yeah dude. Watch the vid. Everybody who says they got it says "oh a sail boat". If you pause it and look it's just about 9 shapes.
I can't see anything. I must be rebarded.
@@paulpesci1 I think it's so they could do the "Oh, it's a scooner!" bit. =P
Back when Kevin Smith was actually good
Ha, at 1:21 it's just a bunch of geometric shapes it's not sailboat at all. lol
***If you don't know how to do this. Freeze the frame of the image and cross your eyes so there are two images and slowly relax your eyes. Near the moment your eyes would go back to straight is normally when the shapes (Like a Star, a Diamond, a sphere, a box, etc..) will appear looking sunken into the background. These images were all the rage back in the 90's.***
See it!
@@frenchyoutoo3122 I have seen this film dozens of times since I originally saw it in the theater and never tried to see the sailboat till now. Only to find that it's not even a sailboat. lol
Ah the 90's. Don't think you could smoke in malls back then either.
You weren't supposed to but some people didn't give a shit, and it wasn't such a huge deal yet that you'd get thrown out for it
You definitely could where I lived. Maybe not in the late 90s but I distinctly remember there being ashtrays in the mall in the 90s. They probably banned it at the same time they banned smoking in restaurants.
Smoking was still allowed in most malls in the mid 90s. By the end of the 90s most malls had designated smoking areas and then in the 00s is when most malls banned indoor smioking.
You could in the 1980.
Bobs really just staring at his phone...
Great writing
why is video messed up
I miss the malls
My god I love the movie.
Earl Hickey...thirty years ago. And still 12 years after he skated with Tony Hawk. 😂
He voiced Syndrome in The Incredibles in 2007.
In the 70's my H.S. GF and I used to go to the mall and buy a couple Orange Juliouses and just sit and watch people walk by and either rate them 1 to 10 or tell their life story from one 30 second glance. That was some good clean fun...haha.
Jeremy London is a seriously underutilized actor.
So is Jason London
Man, I gotta disagree. Mallrats is not only my favorite Smith movie, but one of my favorite movies, period. The only gripe I have with it is London's acting. He acts like a kid in a high school play, compared to everyone else around him. It doesn't help that almost all of his scenes are with Jason Lee, who absolutely steals this movie.
@@CurtisWesbrook He's no Dante, but he's very good in my opinion. He has a very 90s feel and look that helps him play the young would-be intellectual in that era. I enjoyed his performance very much.
Gahhhh damn it! Now I have to go watch it!!
It's a real magic eye pic but it isn't a freaking sailboat!! You would think they would at least make it a sailboat since it's a major theme of the film!!
He’s smoking in a mall 🤣

my favorite part of this scene was seeing the schooner
I want the 90s back 😭
What’s the big word that starts with an M he says about 0:18 secs into this, when Ben A bumps into him?
“Monosyllabically”
A seven syllable word that simply means “one syllable”. Monosyllabically
For the first time EVER, I decided to pause the scene with the Magic Eye poster. I saw a LOT of things, some interesting shapes... but no sailboat. Bummer.
The la fours reference to you young people it’s abutch Cassidy and Sundance kid
Thankyou, nice to see someone else getting the reference. I was rewatching Butch Cassidy one day and the lightbulb came on and I thought god bless Kevin Smith.
Earl and Randy.
Its not a sailboat... It's a bunch of shapes like holes in a board.
RIP the great American shopping mall.
Malls gets a revival on Christmas.
Not the ones torn down. Most of the malls I went to as a kid are rubble now.
I could never see the boat either, Randy.
yeah, shinny puppy in 312 been here for 4yrs,....
What are my favorite scenes is the dating show because they mentioned Canisius College
Fun fact: I grew up with that mall. You wouldn't recognize the mall today they remodeled that mall a few years after the movie was made.
It’s crazy to think that Jason Lee already had an entire professional career before this. Times were different back then….
WHERE THE HELL DID THAT COME FROM WHATS GOING ON HERE?
When the 🌎 made sense.
The magic eye is not a sail boat! My life is a lie.
Affleck's best role.
1:36 Wasn't able to see the sailboat before. Now I can. Sorry Willem.
Liar is not a saliboat
The "sailboat" is not seen. Pausing the clip and staring at the image shows... holes. Like, just holes and points within them. Nothing more.
Guys - don’t you mean 30 years ago?
All these marvel faux nerd newbies gotta see this movie
Is that skateboarder an actor or something?
Brodie's dixie cup of coffee 😆
it's not even a sailboat in that magic eye poster
3:29
Look past the picture to see the sail boat
You should make a sequel to this with kevin smith
I think you mean a “reboot” 😂
They’ll just add “youth and diversity “ to it. And have Kevin Smith direct it. And add Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Although Ben Affleck was the BOMB in “Phantoms” 😎 Matt Damon was bomb in “Bourne” series 😎
They'll be ruining it just like they did with silent Bob and clerks 🤮
I’ve never been able to see those hidden pictures either.
It's a bunch of shapes. No sail boat at all.
Wait a minute. That's not a sailboat at all! It's just shapes.
Funny part is the picture isn’t a sailboat.
It's not a sail boat, it's random shapes...
How did silent bob make a cd player out of a vibrator???
