Yes, that is unpleasant. But I see where the seller was coming from though. I had a boat for sale, and at least 10 people told me they were on the way to see it. Several of them said it was just what they were looking for. Not one of them ever showed up. So that guy probably had the same scenario happen to him.

Always liked the push button automatic transmission version in these old Mopar's. I had a Chrysler Imperial with a Highway Hifi record player that played through the AM radio.
I had a 62 Dodge 413 three-speed torque flite 2dr, it was badged as a Dodge Polara 500, bought for 3500 in the mid 70s. I look forward to seeing Chad work it all out, what a neat guy, artist. and that hot talented chick with him :)
when I was a kid and first saw a new valiant 4 door I thought it would be neat to make it a 2 door and make it look like an Italian race car-I'm 81 years old and still think it's a good idea.
Thats a really nice car for that price all day long. My mom had a cream color one back in the 70s. The gentleman was an awesome guy. Whatever you decide to do will be awesome. Great find you guys!!
Beautiful car. If you are interested, I have a 64 Polara that may be a better candidate for a 2 door conversion. It needs work but if you are cutting it up to anyway, it might be better donor. It has a BB that is ceased but has PS and PB and BB K member. Need metal work. Just make to trip to the Prairies and its yours, no cost.
My friends mother bought one like this in 1967 for practically no money. When my friend turned 16 in 1968 he learned t drive on it. Little did his mom know it was a big V-8 with a 4 barrel carb. Talk about a sleeper!
I recently sold a very nice steel bicycle frame to a kid who turned it into a "fixie" (a fixed gear, single-speed bike). He told me he was going to cut off the rear derailleur hanger and probably the downtube shifter mounts. I suggested he not do that, just in case he ever wanted to restore the bike with gears and shifters... but of course he just bought the frame from me so I also told him he could cut it in half longways just to see how it's made, if he wants to! (He ended up NOT cutting the frame up.) Why there is any desire to cut up a perfectly nice 4-door vehicle to make it a 2-door baffles me, as 4-doors is so much more usable and why not just go find a 2-door if that's what you want? But it's your car, make extra work for yourself if you want, I'm sure we'll all enjoy watching you do it!
I like most of her lines and such, but I think MAYBE we start thinkin' ugly is due to the strange grille and the way the 4 headlights are arranged on the car. I know you're going to do a great job on the conversion 'cause I used to watch yer show & I think I was subbed, but I am now so that's what counts I suppose. Covid almost got me, I had it 3 times even tho I was vaxed/boosted. It got our 40 year old son tho, right in the middle of life, but I'm ready to start living again, maybe. Cars & music make me smile so, Imm'a starting there. I await the majic, man. Let's do this!
I'd personally leave it a more door... But throw the 413 with Cross Rams in there.... Then OVER MUFFLE the exhaust... And run "stock looking" tires and wheels/hubcaps on it. ULTIMATE SLEEPER.😂
Wow and wow. When I was young I knew a lady that bought one of those new and she kept it till she died at the age of 89 was all original was clean car when she past away all original the fun part of it for me was to see at my young age that the car was automatic push button made me laugh. But for my part I would leave the car the way it is. Continue great content like always.
Nice car...and he was a nice honest guy, he reminded me of my dad..(you miss them when they are gone). Have fun with your build, you are very talented and I sure enjoy watching you get after it because you make it look so easy But anyone who has ever did bodywork and fabrication knows how difficult and challenging it really is.
My family has had 3 62 dodge darts. 1 was a 2 door and the other 2 were 4 door all had 318 motors and push button on the dash transmissions. Love them we even took the dodge choice award at goodguys car show back in the mid 1990's after we did a restoration on it. Complete reassembled the car in 3weeks time after Complete top to bottom show car paint job (we did) inside and out side even detail paint under side rebuilt motor trans rearend suspension. New interior seats covered in factory new old stock materials. It was an honor to get dodge stamp of approval.
Nice car I’m Not a four door guy but it’s CLEAN I think if YOU GOT A DREAM CHAD GO FOR IT BROTHER :)!!!!!!! I would have just finished the T BIRD YOU JUST SOLD I loved that car just had a sweet look to it !!!
Good Morning Bad Chad from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Chad if this is your dream, go for it. I would love to see the finished project Fay and Austin Greenough
Hi Chad, Big fan. I have watched a bunch of your episodes. I am a 70 year old Mopar guy. I had a bunch of different 60s Mopars from the day I turned 16 in 1970, thru my 30s. My most beloved car was a 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury. It only had a 318 Poly, but it was beautiful. In an attempt to relive the good-old days, a few years ago, I purchased a 1963 Plymouth 4-door car (at a fraction of the cost of a 2 door car). I also purchased two additional front doors from another 4 door car. My theory is that I should be able to make a 2-door, now that I have 6 small doors. I am hoping that I can use roughly 60% length of each small front door to make 2 big front doors. However, even though it is nice to have the additional 2 small front doors, there is still the issue of a transitioning body shape as the big door panel extends further rearward into the area of the small back door panel. Anyway, as an old Mopar guy (in good standing with the greater Mopar community), I am strongly encouraging you to convert the car to a 2 door. Furthermore, I am really hoping that you do it without the benefit of using 2 big doors from a donor car. If anyone can do it, you can. And I can't wait to watch the fabrication! Regards, Craig Wilkin
That is a beautiful car chad just putting some custom wheels on it and because the haven't been on the road eyes will look your way and gear selector is better than push button love the car.
I had one 2 Dr HT with that 440 V8 that had that button shifter for the automatic transmission. What a baby 😂 My brother crashed it him trying out the power gosh, he flew out from the front windshield window but he survived 👊🙏😇 I was so mad at him but at the same time happy that he did not die.
Chad, Jolene, & Fina that was a great buy guys! The car is in fantastic shape you could not ask for a better car for the project. I personally love the idea of the 2 door conversion and the 413 engine which I believe you have a cross ram manifold for it as well if I am not mistaken Chad. I have seen alot of Tri-5s that have been converted and they look good when they are completed! Gus was a really nice and honest guy the fact that he would not sell it to the other fellow until you got there and had your chance. He also could have tried to start a bidding war between you guys and the other guy and he did not try to do it. It all shows what a good guy he is! You could also thing about tubbing the rear wheel houses and put some big meats on the back of it. A lot of people must have a lot of money or dreams because in the comments I saw quite a few people suggesting other engines when you already have the 413 engine on hand! Jolene thank you as always for taking us along and another great video! Fina looked to be really enjoying the trip with you two, she was a happy girl that she got to go with!
Looking forward to this restoration. My first car was a 62 Dodge Dart, slant six, three speed on the colum. It was white ( had a red stripe) with red upholstery.
Boa Noite Bad Chad, que Dodge 62 lindo, em perfeito estado por ser um carro de 62 anos. Aqui no Brasil um Dodge 62, vale no mínimo U$ 100.000,00 fácil 😅😅😅
I say yes to everything you said it’s just a four door I don’t know why everyone is getting upset about the two door conversion I say do it plus it’s a good foundation to start with no cutting out rust should be a pretty quick conversion
When you chop the car up won't be able to use any of the interior interior looks immaculate but that won't matter Chad will never put nothing inside it anyway
Being old school, I definitely prefer 2-doors. But in this case, I'd leave it as is. This one is almost a time capsule. I'd daily drive it as it is, after a little freshening, and be proud to do so. What a beautiful car.
@@EugeneLangowski-g2n Yes, that's why I know he's going to ruin it. It doesn't bother me when he modifies some piece of crap, like the Volvo but this Dart is beautiful and in great shape and so many people would love to have it just like it is. I would bet that few of them would want it when he's done with it.
I've bought many used cars half of them classics and a couple of antiques. I never appear or say anything about how good I think it is but rather my concern about things like the wet carpet, paint bubbles and whatever else I might come across, yet I don't overdo it. I give the impression of hesitating in purchasing it even though I'm actually interested. This approach makes the seller more anxious to sell it and even lowering the original asking price. Also, I do not pull up in an expensive vehicle which signals the seller that I'm flush with cash. I'm always willing to walk away, if the seller is unwilling to negotiate after my performance. If the asking price is already fair, I just hand them the cash, but I've saved thousands using the above method.
I owned a ‘63 Dodge Dart Station Wagon for several years. It’s one of the few cars I’ve owned that I wished I’d kept. Glad it didn’t have those deep-dish rims though!
That is unwarranted. Undeserved, he is doing his own thing , most of the cars he has customized where far from perfect before he built them. Chad makes his own pannels, how manny can say that? Give the man some credit .
@mountainmantoo I don't disagree it's a great stock example of a S6 4 door. I think this car is cool as is and should be left alone. The part I didn't agree with was the unwarranted attack on Chad. It is OK to disagree with his choice on what to do with HIS CAR. It is not OK to accuse him of destroying classic cars ,as he is starting in most cases with cars that would not be candidates for the investment it would take to do a full restoration. He is not sitting at home living on the tax payers dime. He is operating a business ,contributing to the economy and bringing happiness to people who buy his cars and enjoy his journey and that's freedom at is best.
Unique 'Warthog' styling. Pops had the same car but a rose champagne colour. My sister leaned forward and fell asleep with her face on that horizontal radio grill and then had the indentation lines on her cheek (Yes, what seat belts!).
There was a model kit of one of these, sorta. It was called Dodge Revellion, it was a four door body stuck on a dragster chassis. This kit unbuilt is worth a lot of money today.
I love 4 door to two door coversions. 4 doors are ugly. Someone really fixed that car up nice. A guy on another channel put a blower on the slant six and it would rip. No better guy to do the conversion than Chad.
I am super excited to watch this transformation happen !! You’re a good man bad Chad and of course your other half queen Jolene make you complete. ✌🏼😎💯🍻🍻
Its so awesome to see Chad and Jolene interact with people and how nice and genuine they are. That dart looked so nice. I can't wait to see it done too!
The '70's "Road wheels" have been widened, but look good as well as appearing to have been done well. I was given a '76 Valiant sedan several years back by the original owner- V8, "Custom" cheapy trim, HD cooling, handling package, and some really strange options. It now sports 12" front rotors, 11.25" rear rotors (Explorer), all kinds of upgrades & sneaky pieces- looks stock to most people, but car people ? If something catches their eye & they start looking- they start spotting things. Trunk popper. FFI sway bars. Sway Away torsion bars. Speakers in the package tray, two on the dash but a stock-looking radio. The CB is a hybrid, with a scanner/"BearTracker." Marine aux cord power points in the dash. The single-snorkel air filter housing is a "Trap door" type. Oil cooler. Skid plate. Sport mirrors. On & on. Sedans are pretty unsuspecting & unassuming
If you want it, buy it - but please, please, leave it as it is. That car has classic lines and changing it to a 2- door will make it butt ugly in my opinion.....There is an old saying which goes "if it ain't broke, don't "fix" it".....

Enjoy your new project car,as we will enjoy the build too. Great to see Princess Fina having a great road trip.
Loved how you included that moment. It was perfect.
Nice car Chad u did very good!!! Probably the nicest in the country.
Growing up in '60s the lady next door had one but an auto, push buttons. Love listening to this old guy. Thanks.
Just make to trip to the Prairies and its yours, no cost.
awesome
Nice old fella he's a good guy
He's a talker, thats for sure.
He's 73. He's has a lot to talk about.
My friends mother bought one like this in 1967 for practically no money. When my friend turned 16 in 1968 he learned t drive on it. Little did his mom know it was a big V-8 with a 4 barrel carb. Talk about a sleeper!
Chad and Jolene are very caring people and treat others with respect in their car dealings
After his one fiasco on video.... SMH
It seems every time Chad goes car browsing, everyone starts saying, leave it alone, don’t do anything to it. Gee whiz, it’s his money and his show.
Let's do this!
good score chad and jo..nice old guy
2 door-413 it. I like that vision. That car is in unbelievable condition. Congrats good buy.
I'd personally leave it a more door... But throw the 413 with Cross Rams in there....
Then OVER MUFFLE the exhaust... And run "stock looking" tires and wheels/hubcaps on it.
ULTIMATE SLEEPER.😂
Sleaper.
@@moethibert3640 Do you sleap at night ?
Can't wait to see the end result.
@@ronaldmcclellan5266 i can,it will be another pos from chad!!!
I'm old, I'd just leave it stock.
This shouldn't be messed with. To change it would be tragic.
The car is a survivor. I wouldn't touch it.
New subscriber, 78 years old...remember that car, what a beauty. Can't wait to watch your videos. Good you got it just before winter.
Jezz Chad you come across some lovely people very cool looking car
My family has had 3 62 dodge darts. 1 was a 2 door and the other 2 were 4 door all had 318 motors and push button on the dash transmissions. Love them we even took the dodge choice award at goodguys car show back in the mid 1990's after we did a restoration on it. Complete reassembled the car in 3weeks time after Complete top to bottom show car paint job (we did) inside and out side even detail paint under side rebuilt motor trans rearend suspension. New interior seats covered in factory new old stock materials. It was an honor to get dodge stamp of approval.
Nice car I’m
Not a four door guy but it’s CLEAN I think if YOU GOT A DREAM
CHAD GO FOR IT BROTHER :)!!!!!!! I would have just finished the T BIRD YOU JUST SOLD I loved that car just had a sweet look to it !!!
This car would be an excellent candidate to be a El Camino style, Dodge Dart. I'll bet nobody else thought of this or could do it other than Chad.
Good Morning Bad Chad from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Chad if this is your dream, go for it.
I would love to see the finished project
Fay and Austin Greenough
I’d love this car just the way it is. Wish I saw it first.
A 318 would be my suggestion good cam and port job and good mufflers that dart will sound like a race car with out breaking the bank.
Hi Chad,
Big fan.
Regards,
Craig Wilkin
My dad had a dart. I learned how to drive in it! Great memories! Thank you chad!!!❤❤😂
Keep it as is!!!! Don’t make the mistake
That is a nice car. You can now make it your own since you paid for it. Hope you guys are ready for winter. It will be here soon.
I say yes to everything you said it’s just a four door I don’t know why everyone is getting upset about the two door conversion I say do it plus it’s a good foundation to start with no cutting out rust should be a pretty quick conversion
I completely agree with you !
two door cars always handle better, less body flex
When you chop the car up won't be able to use any of the interior interior looks immaculate but that won't matter Chad will never put nothing inside it anyway
Excellent double negative there Bob, so what do you reckon Chad WILL put inside !!
I like the hat a lot Chad. It looks good on you. Have a great day.
What lovely fella the seller is
Old school respectability and honesty 🌟🌟🍺🍺
Nice looking car
Being old school, I definitely prefer 2-doors. But in this case, I'd leave it as is. This one is almost a time capsule. I'd daily drive it as it is, after a little freshening, and be proud to do so. What a beautiful car.
Great meeting you yesterday!!
That 1962 was mint, it is unbelievable in that condition.
Clean car great 2 door conversion can't wait to see it done !!!
Guys it's his money he can totally trash it if he feels like it .People don't appreciate what he does I love the work he does keep it up Chad .
Please don’t screw up that beautiful car.
Do you watch the show
It's a four-door. It will look much better as a two-door
Will enjoy seeing how its converted into a two door,i myself wouldn't want to do it with such a nice car to start with
Yes! That’s what you do and that’s why we enjoy watching you.
Those slanted six go for ever, these engines are very dependable and cheap to maintain. Overall a good car.
I had a 1962 Mercury Comet that I wished I still owned.
What a beautiful car. Perfect project !!
I owned a ‘63 Dodge Dart Station Wagon for several years. It’s one of the few cars I’ve owned that I wished I’d kept. Glad it didn’t have those deep-dish rims though!
Chad.... Destroying classic cars one at a time !
That is unwarranted.
Undeserved, he is doing his own thing , most of the cars he has customized where far from perfect before he built them.
Chad makes his own pannels, how manny can say that?
Give the man some credit .
Nick, don't be a Dick.
@@timtaylor291 Tim, the poet that didn’t know it !
Such a shame.. two doors for sale all over hells half acre.
@mountainmantoo
I don't disagree it's a great stock example of a S6 4 door.
One of the greatest cars i remember as a young man was the neighbors 59 fury sport had the big v8 four barrels three on the tree. That car would fly.😊
Yeah, chop it up, convert it to a two door and then sell it when it's 60% finished......like everything else...
Unique 'Warthog' styling. Pops had the same car but a rose champagne colour. My sister leaned forward and fell asleep with her face on that horizontal radio grill and then had the indentation lines on her cheek (Yes, what seat belts!).
hats off to a great deal of a find!!! lol
There was a model kit of one of these, sorta. It was called Dodge Revellion, it was a four door body stuck on a dragster chassis. This kit unbuilt is worth a lot of money today.
Yeah been trying to find that model kit for years impossible to find 🤔🤔🤔
I love 4 door to two door coversions. 4 doors are ugly. Someone really fixed that car up nice. A guy on another channel put a blower on the slant six and it would rip. No better guy to do the conversion than Chad.
you don't get pulled as much with 4door
Just love the idea of a two door coupè.Go to it Chad👍
Too late
The 61 and 63 were attractive,
Heads should have rolled with
this design!
Blah blah blah!
~ Memories ... My mom Bought on in 1972 for $150 .... she called it the blue Angle .... U could already see the road when you drove from the rotted floor boards & New England Winters
This car deserves to be a 2 door , can't wait to see this project come alive 413 dual carbs so cool Chad so excited for this one 😄!!
2 door only if it's done right strech front doors shorten wheel base etc.
Wrong,it deserves to be left alone
@@allengeist5481 wheel base is the same for 4 door or 2 cars on this dart , the door length changes yes just need a set of 2 door doors
My parents had one of these. Bought it new. Four door, 225 slant 6, 3 on the tree. I was 6 then.
the 62,s are rare and they are a factory kustom and dont need anything to look kool
I had a two door '63 Plymouth Valiant with a 225 slant 6 with push button automatic. One of the most solid cars I ever owned.
Hi all from Trois-Rivieres Quebec
Yes, a 413 with long rams.

Chad is an artist, cant wait to see how he does his magic on this one.
2 Door gasser style with a straight axle. Slicks out back.
