- This Zamperla custom looping coaster has a 125 foot (38m) tall vertical lift hill and reaches a top speed of 65 mph (105 km/h). It also has four inversions - a loop, zero-g roll, a dive loop and a corkscrew - as well as a Stengel dive and a pair of ejector airtime hills over its 2,000 foot (610m) circuit.

This ride is way more intense than any POV can show. Matter of fact the ride is way more scarier than it looks in person, how they packed that much g-force in such a small ride is beyond amazing.. Thumbs up for the makers of this rollercoaster for getting it right!

Once I went on a water slide with my sister and cousin and it had so many G’s packed into it that it made me gray out and I never laughed so hard & had more fun than in that moment. I love unexpected G’s. 😂
I’m commenting on this 6 years after it was introduced for a reason. This roller coaster has a legacy to Brooklyn kids. I remember in school children challenging each other to ride this at their birthday parties. Tears of pain and joy usually ensued after. It still holds that legacy after I heard my sister say similar things to her friends. Thank you thunderbolt, for scaring a bunch of elementary school students.

Watching this video vs actually going on the ride are totally different! As a rollercoaster fanatic I have to say that that was one of the scariest lifts/drops I've ever experienced! It was on the rough side as well. I didn't pay $10 as my bf and I had a Groupon platinum wristband special which saved us a lot of money that day (just a tip for anyone who wants to visit).
The Cyclone, too. If you watch a POV of The Cyclone, the drop looks like nothing. However, the actual experience is intense, making my stomach drop. I've been on giga-coasters whose drops don't do that.
The Shanell Complex when I was over there I took a look at the ride and said to myself this is a piece of cake. When I got on it I was the loudest person on it screaming like a little bitch.

I just did this ride yesterday, along wit the cyclone and this new ride called the phoenix, but the drop on this thunder bolt ride was crazy, I was screaming my head off lmao, Then it goes in a loop and twist upside down most of the time🤦🏽♀️ Never ever again
I went on this a few weeks ago and let me tell you, my anxiety was sky rocketing as we went up the first hill. I was not ready for that drop. The ride is even faster in person. My soul was no where to be found. The bar that comes down to keep you in place squeezes the hell out of your thighs. Like, it will cut off circulation if you have big thighs but I was thankful for that when the ride went upside down lol
I was petrified tbh. Probably would get on it again with a friend though, so they can suffer too. It's a rough ride too, kinda like I owed the ride money and it caught me slackin'
I felt a little embarrassed because there was this cool grandma that got on with us. I also felt betrayed afterwards because before I could back out she had the nerve to tell us it was nothing. Coolest lady tbh

Just went on this ride yesterday. It's a good ride despite its size I was pretty shocked. It's a little rough though and the restraints are not comfortable as you're going through the inversions. Air time hills are slightly painful too. If they had extended the air time hills a little more it would have been smoother.
You're lucky to ride it. Im going to visit new york and then im going to ride it too :)

Rode the original Thunderbolt (and Tornado and Cyclone and Bobsled) as a kid in the '50s-'60s, and I rode this one twice in a row, 10 years ago, the summer it first opened. Don't underestimate it, it's a pretty rough ride -- packs a good punch into a compact steel coaster. If you're not familiar with the original 'bolt, watch Annie Hall. It's the coaster that Alvy Singer and his family lived under -- based on reality. As Wikipedia says, "The house was a real residence, built in 1895 as the Kensington Hotel. The roller coaster was constructed with part of its track scaling the top of the building." 🙂
Just went on today and its a great coaster especially since six flags is so far...quick ride quick thrill well worth it!!!!!

This is the first time I ever got on a roller coaster and I live here in Texas. I did it because we where traveling and it seemed fun and the little kids wanted to ride so I said why not. I should have said lets go somehwere else the scariest sh!t I've ever experienced this girl freaking ponytail holder fail off. Literally almost poked three holes in my skin from holding on so tight to them bars. When it was over Jesus was highly thanked. You will never see me on a roller coaster ever again.

Coasters still roar if they leave the tubing empty. They can be made very quiet by pumping mortar through the tubing. I wonder if that was done with this one? When residential neighborhoods are nearby, noise is a big deal. I'm sure someone from CoasterForce could tell us.

It's a VERY fast ride, and I mean over quickly. It cost ten dollars (or ten "credits") and while I love coasters and want to try it, I'm not sure it looks worth it. Of course, the Thunderbolt is not included in the "unlimited wristband" deal. On the plus side, every time I run past the ride in summer, the line doesn't seem to be that long at all.

Luna Park now has two options. If under 48'' you can an all-day pass for $42 and above 48'' $69. After 7 pm the above 48'' drops to $42 which includes Thunderbolt. These purchases are all made in person as I am not sure about the online passes. So those who worry about the $10, I suggest going on it as there are less lines around this time

The first drop is amazing. The worst part is coming down from the little hills. The ride is pulling you down faster than gravity. You're being yanked down from the restraints on your thighs. Roller coasters aren't supposed to hurt. I'm glad I did it, but honestly the Cyclone is currently much more comfortable than this.

It does remind me of a very very old rollercoaster that existed in coney island a long time ago that was called the flip flop railway it was one of the first looping roller coasters ever to exist.
Supposedly it broke people's necks (probably untrue). Back then they didn't realize that the loops had to be in an oval to avoid whiplash. Loops weren't done after that until the 1970s.

Went without shoes, twisted my neck, tears were streaming down my face, metal seats hurt like hell. LOL definitely something that ride.
This was my first rollercoaster experience
...... I underestimated how scary it would be and the whole time i was hoping that I was secure enough so I was holding unto the seat with all my might. Not for the faint hearted. Not for first-timers either.
It was my first coaster and I had a blast! It depends on the person’s comfort levels with laterals.

This coaster has its flaws but holy crap it's scary. The restraints WOULD be comfy if they sat flat on your legs, but it pinches your lower thigh. But they have a nice big surface area so the airtime didn't hurt me any more than just sitting still. Gotta say, that was the strongest airtime I've experienced in a while. And the zero g rolls were shaky but that kinda added some "airtime" to the hangtime lol.
I have been a Floridian for over 13 years now but I was born in Brooklyn New York city and this ride is on the very site of the old thunder bolt it was a wooden roller coaster that was abandoned several years ago so in order for the city to make use of the land , they had to devise a plan that wasn't very costly so building a new steel coaster ride in budget was the option and build other small sized rides along a the beach lines are size proportion is standard while still keeping up with modern day thrills but old time family ways and history !!!!
My friend and I were high AF and we held each other's hands and screamed, then laughed, then screamed. 😂 It's a great coaster. The guy who talked 💩 probably needed to feel macho about the 💩 in his pants 😂

I rode this a little over a month ago and let me tell you, I was scared. Your upper body is not secured so you are flopping all over the place. LOVED IT THOUGH!

I wished the camera work wasnt so shaky. couldnt tell if it was the ride or the camera. it does look slower than I expected but it picks up speed after the dive loop. Zamperla couldve done more with their first premiere coaster. It sucked that they cut down the height from 125, cut down the speed from 65 to 56.. you'd think with the limited space they had and it being their showcased coaster they would have gone taller and faster. But atleast Coney got another coaster and it looks better than the Volare
Dan It's the ride. Some people say it's even more painful than the Volare which is saying something.
I went 2 days ago, didn't look that intense from the outside. It almost killed me. When I saw the 90 degree angle at which it starts, I knew I was done.

Those are the anti-rollback devices, as opposed to the more typical ratchet system.

i rode this last wknd when i was in NY and it looks slow n sleek b.u.t when your on it its a different story, i rode rollercoasters everywhere n when i rode this i wanted to get off feeling i was going to come out of the seat and not feeling secure, im going to ride it again b.u.t this was two thumbs up to make me feel scared...
The stupid in this one is strong. Also, if you want to feel scared, ride any flying coaster. Especially Vekoma flyers. Also, if you dont feel safe on this, dont go on TTD.
This was actually my first rollercoaster and i rode it at night and whn i was goin up i felt like i was goin 2 fall out the seat it was fun but 2 short :3
went on this ride not so long ago and i was gripping the seat bar so damn tight, because i'm only like 90 or 80 pounds lol, im 11, and when i rode the fucking thing i thought i was gonna fall out during the loop, i made the huge mistake of opening my eyes during the drop, i didnt scream through the entire thing mostly i was internally screaming, loved it, wanna go again next time.
Really not that bad I had my hands up the whole time except when I did the loop because it pulled my body down

hey if you're on the fence about this, don't put too much stock into the negative comments here. that first drop is scary, and every inversion makes you feel like the little shoulder straps are the only thing holding you up. if you're on the bigger side, it will feel a bit tight, but it's really much smoother than it may have been when it first rolled out (i'm slightly overweight and i was fine). it's not *amazing* by any means, but if you're at the park and looking for something intense, it's a good little ride. not better than the cyclone, but fun!

the lift hill and the initial drop is probably the most intimidating part of this coaster
I have been on this last month. It was uncomfortable, but it was fun.
look at the "kink" in the track right after the first loop. it does a quick right left coming out of the loop.
no wonder why this thing is rough. is that intentional? that little section design looks like it came from one of those chinese knock off arrow coasters.
It can't be easy to fit a legit rollercoaster in such a narrow space without a few kinks
The inversion at 1:15-1:18 reminds me of the Banana Roll on Takabisha
