That last drop on the Runaway Mine Train is so fun because no one in the back can see it or expect it, so the train just randomly speeds up and then you just _fall_

Shockwave opened the spring of 1978. I worked crowd control for the ride that day. The line was almost out to the front gate. Some people were in line all day. That night when the park closed we had an epic Shockwave employee party. Free food and drink and ride the Shockwave as many times as you wanted. It was so much fun!
Thank you for this video. My dad passed in 2020, but as a child back in the early 80’s, we went to this exact park every single summer. And we lived 2 hours away. Ahh, my home park. So many summer days spent here, then baseball games at night. Good memories. Shockwave is one of my all time favorites. Mr Freeze and Texas Giant are amazing. Good stuff.
Thank you kind Sir for the trip down memory lane. It has been around 30 years since I have been to six flags over Texas. My favs were Shockwave, Texas Giant and Joy Roy Scream. When I was there as a kid with my brother and our parents, they had a ride called Big Bend and Shockwave was blue instead of green and I enjoyed the mine train rides. A lot has changed over time. Again, thank you for the memories.
Wonderful to see (hear) people enjoying roller coasters of all speeds and thrill levels. It's all good fun! And the commentary just made it more so; keep it up!
La Vibora is my favorite ride at Six Flags. The Shock Wave was the first roller coaster with a loop-da-loop I’ve ever ridden. I’m not a fan of that kind of experience when it came to roller coasters. Until I remembered this advice I got from one of my best friends from 4th, she told me to close my eyes just as the loop was coming and it would feel like it was going straight. And she was right!
Fond memories of my time at Six Flags Over Texas back in 2003. Started as a ride operator on El Sombraro and the Conqestador, then moved to Runaway Mountain and finally Shockwave. Unfortunately, my tenure was cut short due to a misunderstanding with my medical records and my disability. Despite the challenges, I cherished my time there. Preseason had its moments, like clearing leaves from the Titan's valley, but overall, it was a rewarding experience.
Was my local park for a while, solid coaster line up honestly. Could use a flying coaster. Mr. Freeze, NTG, and Shockwave make a solid top 3. La Vibora is a rare credit type. A must hit park for any coaster enthusiast in my opinion. Fun fact: Robb didn't film all these on the same day, but over multiple visits. You can tell by the fact Superman had a different paint job, and Judge Roy Scream and Aquaman I don't believe have operated on the same day yet. (Judge Roy Scream is in the midst of the worlds longest maintenance break for retracking I believe),
I rode titan on a business professionals of America trip for my school back in 2018. I blacked out from the gforce going down and my friend was freaking out 😂
I grew up riding these exact coasters at this park. Im overwhelmed with memories of that place and being there with my family. My family is all estranged now unfortunately and I haven’t seen my little brother in 22 years. Last summer I saw him he was 8 years old and we rode some of these together. Some of my last few memories being in a state of pure joy with him.
This was so much fun! I saved this video to my playlist for my little boy. He’s not tall enough for roller coasters. So I put him in a laundry basket, on my lap and he has so much fun pretending he’s actually there 🎉🎉🎉 Of course, I played it on the big TV

The Runaway Mine Train was once much wilder, but has been tamed since the late 70s. A whole section of track was removed because of some injuries and a derailment on the section right before the 3rd lift. It also once had a cave waterfall theme feature.
I grew up at Six Flags over Texas. Six Flags has a wonderful history. All 4 of my siblings worked at Six Flags for their very first jobs.
