Too bad they couldn't make the launch work for lift hill. it made this coaster singularly unique among the RMC coasters (I think). This is a great ride though. Somewhere on youtube is a good video about all the challenges its faced.
Other than New Texas Giant, it's the only RMC without an inversion or overbank past 90°. Rumors say the quad was originally proposed as a stall but the park decided against inversions to keep it more appealing to kids.
I really hate how Dollywood completely ruined one of the best roller coasters in the world. The increased reliability was NOT worth ruining the experience, period. Even if the rest of the ride is still the same, removing the launch ruined the overall experience and should not have been done. Dollywood needs to fix this immediately.
As someone who has ridden both versions, I can say with confidence that the chain lift absolutely did not ruin Lrod. I went to Dollywood on a Sunday with very light crowds, and even with most trains being sent out half-full, it was still running EXACTLY the same as when it had a launch. Yes, the launch was fun, but it was far from the best moment of the ride. Dollywood tried everything they could to get the launch running reliably, and nothing worked. It’s a shame some enthusiasts have to be so ungrateful about an objectively positive change that was pretty much inevitable. Personally, I’d rather ride Lightning Rod than stare at it like it’s a giant wooden lawn ornament because the launch is having issues.
I have been watching your channel for a few months, this is the best coaster I have seen. Time to go to Dollywood!
My favorite dollywood ride!!!
Really clear pov, def looks like it’s back to it regular speed now.
It’s one of the most intense rides I’ve ever ridden. It’s awesome. I’ll miss the launch a little, but it still looks great!
I would love it that they'd bring back the rides with not the g forces but just good old fun😂
That’s what makes it a classic.
at least the quad down still gives insane ejector and it didn’t drop down as much as I thought it would in my top 25
I rode that on a youth trip a few weeks ago
Be there in a week! Still looks like an amazing ride.
I can’t be there in a week!
Chain lift definitely changes it a bit but it’s still a great ride.
Clear, clear, clear, clear, all clear.
Ikr 😂
Almost all wooden made roller coasters are fast!
It starts out slow, but after that first drop, it picks up speed fast!❤
Looks like a lot of fun
It still going fast... hope to ride someday
Even with the chain lift , it is still a great coaster
I was probably here when this was recorded

The coaster looks fun.
Deliciously fast
😮😮😮😮😮
I hope they bring back the old theming on the trains, or replace them with swing-axle ones
I just realized LIGHTNING ROD has no inversions..... I thought most RMCs had inversions

Lol, it's hard to NOT raise your hands at the bottom of the lift now.
Is it in Hopi Hari?
Is it just me or does it look like the chain lift is going up a little bit faster than early in the season.
Onde fucA essa montanha russa
0:01 💀
So strange seeing a chain on LRod
Did they really remove the launch section? That made it super unique and fun! Wasn’t it the only wooden launch coaster or did I make that up?

There's nothing special about that coaster now.
If the launch was the only thing special about it, it never was.
@@jasonkloos6348it’s not the whole coaster is super fun
Right because RMC terrain based hyper hybrids are a dime a dozen…
The chain is better than the stupid mag lift being broken down every 20 minutes and it’s still just as fast and intense
Will always love a wooden coaster!
Horrific pothole after the first turn in the valley. Rides rough in the back. Was not impressed tbh
Deliciously fast
