Dad would almost be in tears watching the original Bob Newhart Show, Carol Burnette, Mash, etc. All a bit before I was old enough to stay up and watch them, but 40 years later I understand what he saw in all of these comedians. NOTHING today holds a candle to the talent of this calibre of actors
A friend's sister had a pure breed cat that was named Darrell. It was by far the dumbest cat I've ever seen. It would get its claws hung on the living room carpet at least once a day, and would make a yowling cry until his sister would get the stupid cat unstuck from the carpet. I like cats, but this $400 pure breed cat was almost brain dead.

There's a book of short stories by W. P. They had so many kids that when they got to the hospital, the dad was a bit drunk and didn't remember they already had a Margaret at home (slightly more tragic ending to that story, though).
I remember that episode. I laughed for a long time behind that. It's a good thing George Foreman wasn't on an episode of Newhart. All five of his son's first names are named George. He even has a daughter named Freda George and another one named Georgette!
