Great episode, Angela! Just so folks know, the modern Hebrew word for whale is "לוויתן" though I'm not quite sure if that was the innovation of Ben Yehuda or prior (He also used "חשמל" as the word for electricity which is also super interesting and hilarious).

Justin Sledge is also the coolest of all.
Am I right in my analysis that Daimon the positive term was twisted into a negative term and the coal pressured/boiled like Alchemy concept, oh the suffer we hold, so, Judaism is my basis of Gnostic Faith, Sufism, same thing, Jesus's revolutionary Sufism/Judaism in the post-Babylon enslavement, his way is the exact same thing.
I was in India in 2015/16 volunteering 4-5 weeks over Christmas at Mother Theresa's Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata/Calcutta, and there I suddenly realized that Abraham can be traced to Brahmanism, Atman, Adam, etc....
Shiva and Kali? Wow, tough chick.
Hope I didn't offend you by questioning Judaism's possible takeover and tarnishing of DAIMON the term/concept.
Surely ISIS was stolen recently in our own lifetime and the Egyptian Goddess, she and Nuit are like my Divine Mother/Divine Promise all around and all abounding. But these Imperial Wizards think they can steal the name ISIS?? growl.
Swastika same thing, was stolen from Indian subcontinent cultures that have been labelled into different divisive themes for profitability and geo-political gain.
So Daimon, the term, it was stolen/ruined by Judaism following and even before the Babylon enslavement it seems as sort of evident in what I learned on Esoterica, Angela's Symposium and Religion for Breakfast.
I think this is very likely that Daimon was intentionally tarnished as to destroy competing cultures.
Haitian Declaration of Independence in 1799, that is a case study in bulletproof Divine Grace, just like when the Jewish people escaped tyranny in Egypt, special supernatural protection is there for you. It is meant to be there for each and all through all time I believe.
We are all children of God, and all of us are equal.
We have to be the Archangels, we have to restore trust, hope, and conditions for each and all to thrive.
Psalm 63 is special to me and meant to help those caught in destitute conditions.

Hi Angela, great video as usual! One thing I disagree with is Hobbes' interpretation of Leviathan as being that of a whale, I believe that the quote from the frontpiece of the work (in addition to the actual text) points to a closer association with "power"/"strength" as concepts than any terrestrial creature. You mention (1:28) that the Ugaritic names for Leviathan have a circular reference. Might this indicate that the source in the natural world is a whirlpool? Note the Greek myth of Scylla and Charybdis in which Charybdis was a whirlpool.
Another origin may possibly be the tsunami generated by the explosive eruption of Thera around 1600 BCE. The wave destroyed or decimated settlements on neighboring islands and on Crete but certainly the effects of this wave, which could have been 30 meters high, would have been significant throughout the eastern Mediterranean.
It's also interesting that water is both a source of life and a destructive force, therefore both good and evil. Because water is so essential for life, its destructive aspect must be manifested as a being that manipulates it for evil.
You chose a thought provoking topic for your symposium. Good choice and well presented.

    • @drangelapuca
      @drangelapuca  3 ปีที่แล้ว

that would need a comparative study with a number of scholars to find a proper answer

    • @TheEsotericaChannel

The shoresh (root) for the word לוה means something like "coiled" or "joined by twisting" (note the Ugaritic (𐎍𐎚𐎐 - ltn) has the same -n ending meaning "that one that is" so literally we have "the coiled one" or more literally "the one joined by twisting" so I think the reference here is to something like a sea snake, despite the modern Hebrew word meaning "whale."

@Angela's Symposium . Leviathan is said to be closely related to Behemoth, or Bihmu as I found in Syriac.
Which leads me to something strange in Lavey's Bible. He writes that "Beelzebub (Hebrew) : Lord of the Flies, taken from symbolism of the scarab Behemoth : Hebrew personification of Satan in the form of an elephant.
Beherit : Syriac name for Satan"
Where was Behemoth ever a scarab ? And how does he explain this word Beherit so promptly linked to Syriac ... of which I found No trace in any Syriac dictionnary.
This leads me to doubt all of the research done in the Satanic Bible. Now i'm not accustomed to left hand path traditions, but I've come to think that Lavey's work was a cornerstone of western satanism. What do you think of it ?
