damn..you the man...everytime i watch a video from u i just love painting cars more......thank God for people like u bro...you brought my love for painting back...
I just painted my 1013 Jeep Wrangler and it’s silver flaked, i also painted my 63’ impala super sport,,, candy apple red,, I am not a professional painter but I do paint cars for my friends, I am in a low rider car club and I do most of their paint jobs,,, the Jeep turned out pretty good but in the front hood I did notice a little bit of fogging,,, silver is a a hard paint to do,,, lol but it’s good,,, you are one BAD HOMBRE!!! Nice job and thanks for sharing your experience.👍🏼👍🏼
Hey Gabe, I've been going through your videos again and again not just to find a way to be a better painter but to be a better person most importantly. I will soon be going through a big change with my family (move). That means a new job after 14 yrs at my current one. You giving me inspiration and making my head spin a little less from that process. Thank you for all. BTW you happen to have a link to where you get your prep spray bottle from. Been looking for one forever 🤘😂
The humidity down here in New Jersey has been Blaaaa!!! Great job Gabe, any videos geared to the Diy-hobby painters would be great man! Things like when to use different primers, chemicals, etc. I know your in a busy production shop and it may difficult, just thought I'd throw it out there
+Mike Mccloskey thanks man yeah I've been sweating like crazy all week!!! I just screenshot this and I'll try my best to come up with something for the DIYer
I enjoy your videos a great deal! You have a cool personality and mental outlook on life. You are the type of dude I like to hang out with in my peer group! Be well Brother!!!
Dude, i'd like to see the entire car/ vehicle when it's done (this way fans can compare the blends with the old paint, or the color matching aspect). Great job as usual.
I understand bud. Just thought it would add the finishing touch to see the finished product, the two painters I look up to are you and the Gun Man. But i've been hooked on your channel recently. keep up the great work.
Yes I did learn my friend, don't know if you're familiar with Japanese vehicles, but my profile pic is that of my 1980 Mitsubishi Galant Sigma (which I restored myself; sandblasted, welded, minimum filler used, primed, painted and clear-coated myself). PPG Global line "jet black" base coat and Glasurit clear, Devilbiss GPI 1.4 tip and Anest Iwata W400 1.3 tip respectively. Wish I could share photos of the build lol......But I know you'll probably be too busy for that. Anyway keep those hands steady and keep up the good work.
Yes, that was a grate video, you teach me a lot about dose stripes especially on the wood. great experience. because i mostly have that problem. nothing rong with seating more knowledge, each one teach another bless
So spraying sealer on it like u did the metelic dont halo... Hows that work? Did you use a blender on the the edges of sealer.. Or does the sealer lay flat enough the metalic wont form a halo... And i see from your videos ur up and down on psi is that cause different colors? I know u do it for control coats but some times you spray at 27 off the start and then in other videos your way lower of the start....
O i see i was confused ...so ur saying dont ever use sealer the way u did in that video? Or could you? Always use the rite sealer on the repaired spot? So u dont have to make base to blow down... And thanks brotha for your time...
Thanks to watching you and the gunman and also painting my boss just started giving me cars to paint I'm only 23 so fairly young but I've been getting really good finishes so far so do more videos like this walk us through the car infront of you and run removal and polishing
May I suggest getting one of the GoPro Hero7 cameras for your POV cam? I just got major motion sickness from watching your video full screen, but the GoPro Hero7 has a really useful stabilizer mode which will really smooth out your shots and make it much more enjoyable to watch.
+Kent Buehrer because I like to get a uniform even finish on there and also the sun will beat up on those surfaces more. So we need the UV protection of the clear
+Rick Coborelos thanks so much brother! That's becasue ai have 5 different preppers and they all work differently and sometimes it's easier to use plastic and sometimes easier to use spray mask
MOTIVATED PAINTERS You have a luxury setup (booth equipment etc) and by the attention to detail and way you conduct your technical and techniques. I'm very impressed. Keep up the good work. Content is good. Info is good. Great channel alround. If you use metric terms aswell ie: 2 bar (29psi ) and liters/mills of paint (qtrs) it would help a wide range of viewers. 😎
gabe do you think over reducing the base affects the colour match? I know your blending but was just wondering as I've just done a light blue mini and reduced the control coat as I find light blues difficult to blend!
Great video !! Wish I would have started watching you much longer ago !! After the time you have had your Walcoms what do you think of them now !?!? Still worth the saved pennies? Still perform as they did day 1 ?
+Brulserz 😀 glad I'm not the only one answering questions! That's why I love the motivated painters family!! So yes is so the blend panel doesn't look darker from having to much clear 😀
Hey, sorry to bother you, but i have an odd question and i really need your opinion on this. Lets say, hypothetically, you have to paint a door and a fender, but you apply base ONLY on the door. How is then when i apply the clear, the fender, which DOESNT have base on, is clean and smooth, and the door, which HAS base on, looks somewhat rough and not as smooth as the fender? I really hope that i explained it in a way that you will understand what i meant. I really look forward for your answer. Thank you!
+Brulserz hey brother I think I understand what you mean. It looks dirty maybe a bit with dust looking bumps? This might be just the base application. There could be a big number of things that could of gone wrong. To hot in the booth making the paint dry before hitting the panel creating sand piling, dirty gun. Paint not strained, to much control coat so you create a layer of really dry paint. Not sure that helps my friend I hope so!
Well the paint that i am using doesnt have good coverage, so i am forced to apply 4,5,6 full coats and then a control coat after that in order to get coverage. If what you are saying is true - (too many coats of base causing paint built up), how can it be fixed, if it is fixable at all? Thank you.
I am so sorry that i keep bothering you but i am in tough spot, just looking for help.. so please help me with this if you can - Well the paint that i am using doesnt have good coverage, so i am forced to apply 4,5,6 full coats and then a control coat after that in order to get coverage. If what you are saying is true - (too many coats of base causing paint built up), how can it be fixed, if it is fixable at all? Thank you.
+Brulserz this will help a lot and another thing you can do is sand with 1000 soft pad sand paper from 3M trizack lightly to get rid of sadness, then apply couple coats of base. If the paint is not covering well it might be the base is too thin.
MOTIVATED PAINTERS lol that's okay thank you for your response! I actually recently had that problem with ppg shopline clear it made the panel more yellow where I didn't even put color. I love you videos! Definitely helping me grow! 😊
OK I blended on a Honda Odyssey van silver color code nh700m-b Front passenger door fender hood and bumper how do I keep the door from darkening from the back door because when I do silvers the clear seems to darken the door and makes it look different from the blackboard what should I do?
Hello Gabe, just curious why your preppers use so dark tinted primer when its silver? It must be easier to blend when you have more the same tint as the basecoat?
Awesome vids buddy. Switching to envirobase next month. Do you tack before you clear?? Heard some do and some don't. Really value your opinion. Keep it up man!!
+DJ Kayno listen to your rep I'm not a rep 😂 But here is my thoughts. I reduce (sometimes) 5% I get two coats of coverage then I'll reduce to 30% to settle the mettalics.
Hey Gabe, I was told about your channel today and subscribed. I've been watching your videos and noticed that you don't use a wet bed. What are your thoughts on using a wet bed? I actually don't use a wet bed but my ppg paint rep keeps trying to get me to use it.
We never see videos on spray out cards for colour matching... pls when u get another hard to match colour and make a spray out cards... remember most diyers don't have access to a tinner bank... so using a inrercoat and finding right shade of over reduced basecoat blend and dropcoats is key.
+henri because sorry my friend obviously this videos are more for painters that paint in a booth not so much for DIYers but I will keep that in mind. I don't do many soray out cards because the colors are usually good, two videos ago I did do a spray out card and I mentioned what I added 😊
don't under estimate diyers and there diy home spray booths, I ve see killer spray jobs... and flowcoats come from at homemade shop spray booths.... lol....... the big hurdle for dyers is access to a tinter banks to correct there mixed paints from the there suppliers...
Check your reduction of the base and also contact your local paint rep and see if they can come in and help out might be something deeper than just you. Also try the hte base Walcom 1.3
I get in these situations about 3 times a week. hard color, limited blend room.in a perfect world the insurance company would pay to blend the fender.would probably even speed up the job and not much more material and less stress.good job though.
the metal can be hot the booth should be normal temp dont want paint to dry before it hits the panel causes sand piling but i spray silver while panel is hot and never had modeling sounds like you get that from you talking thats not the reason usually not the right gun or how you lay it
What did you mean by reducing 5% ? Did you only out 5% of reducer? I'm guessing no, because then it would be too thick?? And then you mentioned 20%? Great Video!
+marshallpulham it's hard for me since its a high production shop so I don't get to prep. I'm sure there are lots of prepping videos on TH-cam, I wouldn't do much different than most people. But I will try my friend!

True, but I enjoy your videos and try and listen to what you're saying. The music tended to over ride your voice a few time. Still a great video. Thank you.

+ZorroGsi 😂 I'm always singing! Hahaha
So why you did'nt paint inner part of the door and install it then paint all in one
Glad you watching all the videos hope you are learning what not to do at least 😘 because in a production shop we do it all at once.
Thanks for the vid Gabe as usual I watched it all and you taught me something new, looking forward to the Matco gun review
+Gav179 thanks so much man!! 😊

Once I can afford it I will 😂🤣
I get not double coating near the fender. But, why did you double up on the pillar through the 1/4? Why not just where you applied base?
+Kent Buehrer because I like to get a uniform even finish on there and also the sun will beat up on those surfaces more. So we need the UV protection of the clear
MOTIVATED PAINTERS gotcha.
I've watched 4 videos of yours. Very impressed thus far. I will ask why plastic the other side of the car in this vid. But not on some of the others?

what grid grade you use to sand the clear coat if you want to spray only clear coat??(trizact 1000,3000...???)
1000 not paper not trizak
hello brother....is that the black widow gun????
Nope haha it's a walcom
At 16:25 why did you didnt you apply the clear coat all the way? Thank you.
Magnifing effect îs called ( on my place ) too much clear will " change" the color . So You need too aply light as posibile :)
Thank you very much !

+The Brand HAHAHA awesome 😊!

How do you check you colors do you take photos, check chip or do spray out cards?

i mean if you do that no need for put sealer on the car? Only the new door on the stand?
They made a mistake
so i noticed you dont use base blender. any reason?Does ppg work better without it?
Yeah it doesn't really need it
Show us some of the other stuff you do around the garage. Get the cars in and out, nibbing ect
Show shagreen on the varnish in the macro in the video of some kind please
+Евгений Захаров not sure I understand my friend!
This grey kolor ... you blend ... is a primer or water base or what ? :) ?
+Mirek M. Basecoat I mixed up 😀

Btw....awesome voice my friend......
Thank you my friend !!!!😍
gabe i was thinking of trying the spray-mask have you stopped using it?
+spencer moon no I haven't ! This particular prepper likes to use plastic
Great job Gabe, what was the base coat gun again it looked like it done a great job
+jason evans hey thanks brother ! It's a new Matco HVLP gun 1.4 next week is a review coming up 😀
You are a very cool robot-painter;)
+Евгений Захаров thank you 😀
What’s a good temp to do that silver to avoid the mottling thanks bro!

Gabe you got the model of that gun . I may try one from my matco tool truck.
Is it this one
www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/MTHVLP14/HVLP-ELITE-SPRAY-GUN-1-4/
+Grant Fullen yeah that's the one
Nice video man helped out alot with some of these silvers and by the way how do you mount your camera for recording
Wow that's awesome to hear!! I have a GoPro mount on my sata vision 5000 helmet
Do you always shoot your clear at that pressure?
+Andrew Ybarra yes 😀
Awesome vids buddy. Switching to envirobase next month. Do you tack before you clear?? Heard some do and some don't. Really value your opinion. Keep it up man!!
Thanks so much man ! You are gonna love it!!!! I usually don't tack before clear to not disturb metalics
great job gabe
+its nunya business lol thanks man hope the snowmobile turned out good!

reduced 5%? paint rep has me reducing metallics 30% from the get go. what are your thoughts? reasons for your 5%?
+DJ Kayno listen to your rep I'm not a rep 😂
But here is my thoughts. I reduce (sometimes) 5% I get two coats of coverage then I'll reduce to 30% to settle the mettalics.
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS do you mean 30% reducer overall or ? So you never do 100% reducer?
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS only reason I ask is because my computer has a scale and it shows the % as I fill. 5% seems like 2 drops? Lol please clarify.

+Shamel Powder thank you!! 😊😀😁😃
Hay Gabe. How come you bag some of your cars and others you don't?
+Mel Orozco hey brother because I have 5 preppers and they all have their own way of doing things 😀
Is Matco gun okay for metallics .I like my iwata but need cheap gun .
+Brian Broady dude honestly I'm using Matco for all my difficult silvers it makes blending easy!
My suggestion is to always show a finished car without paper, only then it will be seen whether the car is PERFECT or just perfect.
For sure! But my cars and never ever PERFECT they are always just perfect
You say difficult silver yet looks so easy🤔, Good Job!
+Ziontrain7 HAHAHA thanks bro!
Really good skills...fun to watch
😘😘😘😘
Hey Gabe, I was told about your channel today and subscribed. I've been watching your videos and noticed that you don't use a wet bed. What are your thoughts on using a wet bed? I actually don't use a wet bed but my ppg paint rep keeps trying to get me to use it.
+OKC SHUA k don't usually use it I don't see a big need for it sometimes it helps and sometimes it makes Jist more material on the panel

Nice work, but annoying music.
Hahaha it would be one boring world if we all liked the same stuff 😙
True, but I enjoy your videos and try and listen to what you're saying. The music tended to over ride your voice a few time. Still a great video. Thank you.
Thanks man I really do appreciate that !! Newer videos have no music so I hope that you get some value from them !
Who ever disliked this is a hater lmao
+Andrew Ybarra HAHAHAHAHAH thanks man you made me smile!!! I always wonder that!

So the vid editing got better as you made more vids ? Lol
No not really I don't suggest you watch any of them I don't think you'll learn anything 😂🙃
Gabriel Merino ah don’t be so hard on your self your vids have taught me a bunch about painting !! Soon I will be attempting my first House of Kolors black paint job on my show car. Your helping us out here whether you know it or not............. just keep the the back ground music down. 😂
