what a waste to be on the Spurs
Philly could have had Tatum, and Phonix could have had Doncic, so don't feel too sorry for them. It's their fault for bad drafting
They need to draft better not only with 1st overall pick but all picks. Boston got Jalen Brown 6th overall I believe. There are so many talents but for some reason these scouts miss it.
@@scottinnh88 like to see you do better
@@micah3922 What sense does this make? He is criticizing a scout whose only job is to scout players and often times they are objectively doing a bad job.
@@scottinnh88 Jaylen was the 3rd overall pick. But everyone thought Simmons and Ingram were the only promising prospects that year (Although that class was FULL of steals). Jaylen Brown developed a lot in Boston to become the player he is today.
@@alexandermeiering5216 when the players were drafted most thought nothing of it. When the players become a "bust" people are very quick to point out what the scout got wrong. Many times it is not the scout's fault but the coach that is developing the player's fault
This next season is DEFINITELY going to be exciting
They should play Vic at SF instead of C. I’d take him abusing other SF’s on both ends rather than getting abused at C by dudes like Embid, Steven Adams, Jokic, ect
Exciting? Lmao yall about to pay more money for spurs tickets to watch them lose. This maybe they'll win 10 more games at best

It was some rough years since the kawhi debacle being a Spurs fan. But this past year watching the young boys play and now winning the Wemby lottery makes it all worth it
@@bryanjacobs9680 I know, being a Spurs fan for almost 30 years now, the Kawhi saga was our lowest but maybe a blessing in disguise

He'll get injured and suck balls. 😆 I hope, Spurs don't deserve it. They purposely tanked.. I would have never even given them a chance for a top 10 pick.. let alone #1.. The NBA is full of sh!t and rigged.. Adam,"I won't reward tanking.." Oh, really, why Pacers get 7th for actually competing with their new young rebuilding roster then?? Fk you NBA.. In 2017, the Celtics actually won that draft. The Sixers moved up for Fultz. The Celtics will tell you they were happy to win that draft and fleece the Sixers.
Now the Spurs have won a epic trade with the Hawks
@@scottinnh88 Hawks trades don't mean much unless they suddenly start tanking in a few years.
The San Antonio Spurs pushed their rebuild into full swing Wednesday, trading All-Star guard Dejounte Murray to the Atlanta Hawks for forward Danilo Gallinari and a trio of first-round picks. The deal was announced by the teams on Thursday afternoon.
Hawks receive:
• Dejounte Murray
• Jock Landale
Spurs receive:

• 2025 first-round pick
• 2026 pick swap

@@Sam-uz4iy the Hawks trade got rid of Dejaunty Murray, I believe he would have stolen the spurs a handful of games maybe a lot more. If they get more wins there odds would have went down just saying. And now they have some draft capital that could be traded so I think it’s a big win by the spurs thanks to the lottery gods.
One interesting nugget is that according to Brian Windhorst, the Spurs have been scouting Wemby for years.. like 4-5+ years. So then trading Dejounte the year before kinda makes sense.
It looks like the Spurs tried to win as much as they can with demar and hope for a good year, before calling it all off the year Wemby is eligible for draft

I just hope he gets to enjoy the game and show the fans great Spurs basketball.

I've been a Spurs fan since 2004 the last time we had a 1st overall pick I was 5 month old and now 26 years later here we are again. I will say that I have faith in Tre Jones, Sandro and Blake Wesley the future is very bright and Keldon may even make the all-star team next year, I'm just happy that San Antonio will have so many new fans
Growing up I loved SA Spurs. Aging David Robinson, Timmie, Ginobili and Parker. I watched every game. I'm so happy they finally got another future star.
Too bad people don't move to San Antonio because market is not big enough. But I think they have enough trade pieces to get great teammates for Victor. Other than that GM, Coach and SA staff are all top notch.
I am dreaming that someday I will watch the Spurs playing at San Antonio live 🥺🥺🥺
Market doesn't matter as much in 2023 and Austin is 10X bigger than back in the day.. Everything is digital and social media. If Wemby is a human highlight then people will watch. SA is in texas so the no taxes will help alot.
SA-Austin metroplex is already growing like crazy, the overflow from austin is really starting to show here in SA and with Wemby's arrival it is going to have so much more impact than just on the court.
@@liamcapobianco7843 that's how the GSW went from a small market team with loyal fans to a huge draw. The bay blew up with people. They got a superstar and championship team to grow with the region. Wemby can be that for the spurs as that market grows with people.

There was no guarantee we were going to get #1 but the stars aligned and what a master plan! Lol either way I am stoked, I was 20 when we got Timmy and now we get a chance at a 2nd dynasty! GO SPURS GO!!!
It is very highly unlikely that he will be even half as good as Tim Duncan.
This guy is not a knock down shooter like the highlights say. He is a career below 30% shooter.
And his size is by no means as unusual as people make it out to be.
Porzingis is actually slightly taller than VW and bigger as well as a better shooter. Yet no one is raving about him.
I would be cautiously optimistic about this kid.
Good job for this video man, loved it. What an exciting time to follow the NBA
Hey Casey, thanks for this terrific video and the future looking bright for the Spurs Organization after they received the Draft Lottery #1 Pick and no doubt about it, selecting the big man, Victor Wembanyama in next month's NBA Draft.
Especially, Wembanyama effect will have for the Spurs, for many years to come. Looking forward to it!!!! Go Spurs, Go! 🏀🏀🏀
Literally going to a coach with experience training big man like Robinson and Duncan Joining legendary coach popovich will be perfect for wemby I wanted the spurs to get the pick and they got it there no other team more perfect to select wemby than the spurs
They can bring in Duncan to help Victor out as well.
I’m surprised they don’t ask for wiseman unless they knew they were getting Wembanyama months ago.
Huge for Spurs, thanks for the great video.
He is the obvious 1st pick but at this point he is overhyped and can only underperform. People treat him like the next lebron when they havent even seen him play in the nba. Lets start off with seeing him suiting up
Forget the NBA. People haven't even seen his career 3 point shooting stats, let alone understand that there are actually guys over 7'3 who shoot better who are bigger like Kristaps Porzingis.
People don't even know that 7'3 bigs are most likely going to go down in their careers with too many injuries.
I personally would be much more hyped for drafting a highly talent player between the size of a wing or power forward to 6'11 Center.
@@kanajingly8957 eh i mean the potential is great. I understand why you have to draft him, even if there are risks involved. He has the skillset and speed of a guard, and is ab overall better prospect than someone like porzingis. He has huge potential, which makes him the obvious 1st pick, but we need to wait and find out if he ever reaches it
@@mEtil5656 I would love for the Spurs to have another amazing big to lead them to the promised land. But the injury risk is just so incredibly high. People should be cautiously optimistic and not buy into all the hype.

There's a really interesting draft dynamic for the Hawks. Forget about the picks they outright gave the Spurs, they also have a pick swap as well in 2026 or so. Hawks thought for sure with Trae/DJ they'd at least not have to pay up on that swap cause they'd be better than the Spurs. Now they have to worry the Spurs will capitalize on that swap as well (think about how crazy would it have been if the Lakers kept being bad and the Pelicans stayed good and they could trade a 25th pick for a top 10 pick this year. The Lakers got good and saved their pick, the Hawks might not be that lucky)
That watch party was amazing, I love his energy😂😂😂
Great things will come from victor
Perfect analysis. Coach Pop and the Spurs will see the big picture and not risk any freak injury. But they will wait with patience until Wemby is NBA strong, then will pull the trigger on available All-Star FA to pair Wemby with. Correct. They have all the FRP’s and assetts, huge caps to make it happen when finally the time arrives. Go Spurs Go!
Literally the only source that is actually honest about this kid. Respect
I’m so hyped the Spurs are gettin Wemby! However it's a damn shame that these 'expectations' are getting absolutely ridiculous. He's only 19! Duncan started playing for the Spurs at age 21 and Robinson was 24 when he finally entered the league! So I fully expect for these next 2 seasons to be spent just getting some experience for Victor and the rest of the young guys. The Spurs have so much cap space and draft capital, I really hope they remain patient and not try to spend it so soon for win now talent when the right move would be to let Wemby come into his own first then start putting the pieces around him
It''s exciting to see how Victor will turn out in the NBA
Good stuff, Casey, we went nuts with the honking and partying over here last night🥳

Spurs is hella lucky and Victor Wembanyama is also fucking lucky. We have too many stars gone to waste in certain places and Greg Popovich and the spurs facility. Roster will probably be molded quite a big time and that there will be a want for a veteran player to show him the ropes. Even more excited because there's a ton of upcoming all star free agents too.

Unironically if the spurs got the #1 pick in the ayton draft, they might’ve picked up luka instead, and they would be equally as set up as getting vic
If they had luka they wouldn’t have gotten Vic for sure
Henry Zhou, if the Spurs had Luka, they would not have gotten Wembenyama because they would've won too many games with Luka on the team.

Nothing with being wrong, its how you learn, whats concerning is blindly liking without knowing facts
I would give up Victor Wembanyama for Luka in a heartbeat.
Victor is a highly overrated number one overall draft pick.

The fact that they did all of those things before they got him is suspicious, bout probably not rigged.
Sports is entertainment at the end of the day. Don't be surprised to find scenarios that come across as rigged.

The only thing they did that you can say is for Wemby specifically is trading away Poetl. The rest are typical moves you'd expect a rebuilding team to make. Awesome video, although i will say our glory days never came from jumping to the trade/FA market, but rather building our foundation in the draft with OUR pieces. Do not be surprised when guys like Vassell, Sochan, and KJ become just as valuable as anyone on that trade/FA market and our role players have stronger overall impacts than some superstars have on their own teams at the end of the season... With that being said, i fully expect someone to join the roster 3-5 years from now in search of a championship, but i see our most of our money going to guys we currently already have on roster. We already hold the keys to our future, now were just trying to figure out which keys go to the front door.

I think he just has to say that kind of stuff. How would it have looked if he said, "I'm ok with losing for a while?"
For the most part, I don’t think the Spurs will ask him to guard bulky 5s. They’ll use Zach Collins or Bassey or even Sochan for that. Wemby is versatile enough to defend wings, and I imagine he’ll spend most of his time as the primary on 4s.
We manifested it.
Never in my life would i expect Luka in a Spurs jersey. I could literally cry tears of joy
I've heard the hype before. Zion had all the hype too. Hopefully wembenyama avoid injuries.
Adam Silver's idea of a "serious" suspension is gonna be like 8 games as long as the player is okay with that. Don't wanna step on any toes or anything. I hope he doesn't feel too uncomfortable.
Just want a point guard tbh. Maybe that's when all that cap space comes into play. Our point guards are alright, but I would prefer a taller guard. Maybe Branham and Wesley might get some run at the one spot having to play out of position, which I think they could maybe do. I do miss Dejounte, but yes we wouldn't have gotten Wemby if we didn't trade him. Some tall guards like Murray I think would be great on the Spurs would be Shai and Haliburton. However, Luka though? That would be insane

Is there anyone left who believes the draft lottery is actually legit?
It was definitely rigged when Stern was in there, but I don't think so now tbh. I mean, they were tied with the best odds to get the No.1 pick

@@Drillbitayler rigged to the bone just like the playoff but still it's a good show
@aubamepierre7511 100%. Basketball is the EASIEST sport in the world to rig. Almost all contact can be called "foul" and people don't question it. Now, you just selectively enforce a couple of those "fouls" for one team, and a couple against another per quarter and you can influence a game by 5-10 PER quarter. They can even do it through less calls by giving an extra touch foul to a team's star, forcing him to sit, and by not calling those fouls on the other teams star.

@@dhruvkilaru2265 Magic Jhonson, Mickael Jordan. Magic straight out of the bat made the team better and won a ring in his first year, MJ well let's say basketball was never the same after he left the court.
yeah you're not supposed to get a top talent and then expect to be in the same draft position next season. thats what makes teams BAD
I’m actually glad you mention that.
Technically speaking Houston used to be the Big Brother then Timmy came along and San Antonio took the title now the Rockets and Mavericks are the little brothers but we have a strange respect for the Mavericks because of Dirk he gave us some good basketball games
Living in Austin in the 2000s was great. Could watch every Mavs, Rockets, Spurs game when all three teams were fantastic
2003-2009 must had to be basketball heaven for you. You had the Dirk Mavs, Spurs big three and T-Mac and Yao all free games to watch.
@@Ahorsewithnoname1365 it was lol I was young af but I still have great memories from those years but 2014 was still the best year for us
I'm kinda jealous of you lol. I'm here in Georgia and all I get is free Hawks games. Yeah. I'm not the biggest Hawks fan lol.
Hi. Thanks so much for putting in effort into your sponsored ads. I recently unsubbed from another nba content creator because their ad just gets copy pasted after the intro at an unnatural jarring volume. It's a lot easier to just watch through the whole video when it's like this and it flows. Also, I'm so glad the Spurs got another big man! I hope they make the most of Wemby and hopefully we get to see the second coming of the Big Fundamental!!!
