    If there's a check engine light on you may want to have the code pulled to see where it's pointing to. You could also check all of the suspention pieces to see if there's anything that needs to be fixed.

    @ant1h If the inside of the rim is worn, I would also check the brake caliper to see if it has the same type of mark on it. You could also jack the tire up and turn it by hand to see if you can hear where it's comeing from. Hope this helps you out.

    @DodgeMan360 Once you put the new tie rod in, I would recommend getting an alignment done. Even if you count the turns it may still be off a little bit, causing the tires to wear out.

    • @PIANOSTYLE100
      @PIANOSTYLE100 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes..that would make sense. Probably a good time to ask the mechanic if they see anything wrong in the suspension system .
      Knowing what a ball joint is and what time rods do. What's their function and how to see if they are worn is very inp. That could be any part. As I am not a mechanic but like to be able to do things myself. I have piano/guitar site on You tube..it aimed towards beginners and intermediates. Pianostyle100.

    @wickedjester9 I would check all of the suspension pieces such as the tie rod ends and sway bar links, ball joints. You should also see if there's any play in the axle shafts. If you have a bad one, that could cause an issue too.

  • @1AAuto

    It may be. Sometimes a bad hub noise will come and go while you turn.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @antonio30824 You have to lift the tire up off the ground and unload it,to properly be able to move it as shown in the video. What you are looking for is play in the wheel by being able to move it from side to side.

    You may experiance a humming noise at over 30 mph, if the bearing has gone bad.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It could also be worn suspension or steering parts. If the sway bar steering stabilizers are bad, you experience a thumping noise with a shake in the wheel at higher speeds, but not necessarily a shake in the brake pedal. Hope this helps you out.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    It still could be a bad wheel bearing. Sometimes on these newer cars you have to take the hub off of the knuckle and see if you can move the outer hub by hand. If there's quite a bite of play between the two pieces it may be bad. The bearing tolerances are so close on some of the newer cars, that it can be hard to tell at times. Hope this helps you out.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @12unnn It could be in the driveline too.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You may want to check the front axles and also the sway bar end links for wear. If the end links are dried out and bad, you may have a thump at higher speeds, shake in the steering wheel, but maybe not in the brake pedal. If those check out okay, inspect the rest of the suspension pieces for wear. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com

    when the vehicle is up in the air and since there is no limited slip differential, one side of the vehicle will spin since the power is being diverted all to that side since it believes it is slipping. When the vehicle is on the ground and the wheel is getting traction, the power then goes to both tires.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It could either be from the tires or it could be a bearing going bad. Bringing the car in to have it looked at will be the best thing to do at this point.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You may want to jack the car up and see if the wheel bearings are bad. You could also see if the axle is loose. You may want to turn the tire by hand to see if you can hear any strainge noises that may lead you to what's causing the issue.

  • @1AAuto

    I have a 2005 ford sport trac 4 wheel drive the front passenger rotor was warped and was changed but it still sounds like it rubs but not the whole way as the wheel rotates it gives off a shuddering type sound and is more prominent when turning right and at higher speeds also at highway speeds the steering wheel shakes a bit but the brake doesn't pulse or vibrate when stopping

    Hey a1auto I was wondering if this problem with the wheel hub bearing goin bad could be the cause of my cv shaft axle constantly being needed to replaced at least once a year? I know that the sensor on the wheel huh does work and does not make any sounds during driving.

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    A bad wheel bearing will make more of a humming noise where a bad U-joint may tend to have more of a vibration along with a humming noise to it.

  • @imsosik13

    2005 sport trac 4 wheel drive front passenger side sounds like it runs or hums louder when turning rotor was replaced recently was warped no signs of it warping now no vibrations in pedal when stopping louder humm however steering wheel vibrates at highway speed and humm is louder

    Would that cause inner tire wear? I replaced all my suspension , shocks and got an alignment, but still have wear on the inner driver tire. But I did replaced the wheel hub up "after" the alignment so would that cause that wear ?

    I have a 03 grand Cherokee limited that has started to make a whining sound that seems to be coming from the drivers side front. It doesn't happen all the time but becoming more frequent and only makes noise when moving. Its higher pitched than wheel bearings that I have heard in the past when going bad. Been reading jeep forums lot of people with this problem but no solution. some say wheel bearings some say pinon bearings. any help would be thankful.

    Thanks for the reply. I had recently done my front strut assemblies. So i thought it was maybe loose bolts somewhere.in the suspension. So took the wheel off. Spun the wheel hub. And traced my clicking/ tapping noise to a badly cracked front differential. The fluid had leaked out completely. So im now looking for a front differential.

    I have been told the front differencial is bad in my 05 Envoy SLT 4 wheel drive 4 cyl. I am thinking it is a left hub bearing. If I am driving the vehicle in 2 wheel drive and the differencial is not "engaged", I wouldn't hear the "vibration" sound, correct? Because I am using the rear differencial with 2 wheel drive. It is definately a rough vibration "feeling" in the front (Left side if I had to guess) I hear the sound in 2 and 4 wheel drive. Whats your thoughts?

    Thank you for sharing your expertise and what I should look for. I had a simple oil change and was told that my front wheel bearings need to be replaced, 04 Toyota 4 Runner, SR5, 4WD. The mechanic demonstrated the same condition above, a slight looseness/movement on both front wheels. I don't hear any noise when driving. Their quote is $1150.00. Then he said that I'll probably need an alignment after the work is complete. They said their quote is high because of the 4 wheel drive and labor intensive, minimum 6 hours ?? I will get additional quotes, including the toyota dealership. If this repair work is this intensive, I would feel more comfortable with the dealership doing the work. Does this quote seem a little inflated?

    Try a high speed wheel balancing. Not done or if you hit a pot holder could of unbalanced your tires.

      +Free Spirit It could be an emergency brake acting up, or possible a wheel bearing. 1aauto.com

      Does it kinda sound like twigs snapping. Or a loud click? If so it may be the axle u joint.

    my passenger side wheel makes this sound: whoost...whoost...whoost...whoost. while i'm drinving. my dad had a different wheel on it but i put the spare on it and it made the same sound. i'm getting my oem wheel put back on with a new tire (the old had a flat, thats why he put the other wheel on) and i'll check the noise then. but i saw a ring on the inside of the wheel of the other and the spare. i'm thinking its the caliper that is making that sound rubbing against it. ?!? response please

    If the wheel moves from side to side it could be a bad wheel bearing.
