Insta360 is not new to the Action Camera space, but the AcePro is theta first camera to directly compete with the GoPro Hero 12 and DJI Action 4. One main feature of the camera is the 1/1.3" sensor, Leica Camera, AI Highlights, 4k 120fps, 48mp and a 2.4" flip screen.

Clear winner, Insta360 ace pro, what a beast, I was impressed with the lowlight performance and overall daylight image quality, no reason to buy a gopro anymore... unless they start to innovate as they did 10 years ago
I agree with you. And I'm thinking about selling my GoPro equipment and switching completely to Insta 360. I was hoping for a big step with the GoPro 12 and only tiny little steps came - completely different with Insta 360.
I think though gopro12 daylight videos still look better, unfortunately! Wonder why?
I'm just glad to see more than 2 real players in this segment. Competition drives innovation... and hopefully some good deals in the making.
Hopefully Sony will make a comeback it took these three 7 years to make a camera that could compete with the x3000 lol

I love all of the AI and in-camera processing features. The flip up screen is wonderful. Sadly the lack of a replaceable lens cover is a big miss for me. It's an action camera. It's more than likely to be put in harm's way.
There is tons of room for upgrades- no 10bit color, HDR only for 30fps or below, not reputable trustworthy products when compare to GoPro and DJI. For now I will stick with GoPro and DJI
"Not reputable" is a reach @@GaliKirankumar The X3 might be the best camera out there right now. The Go 3 is a fantastic concept & improvement on the Go 2. The One R/RS was amazing in it's time.

This comparison explained a lot of things, I think ACE Pro is a quite interesting products, the flip screen is also useful during shooting footages. I think it is worth to have both for normal traveling or bike riding to me.

It's great to see another action cam competitor in the market. I'm curious as to why they didn't include a log profile though. Granted, most of this camera's target audience won't be interested in colour correction, but there's a ton of creators out there buying these cams for b-roll, myself included. I wouldn't entertain the idea of buying this without some kind of log profile. Thanks for the review 🙏
Insta360 are by far the best at listening to users. If enough people ask I'm sure a firmware update will fix it to include a log profile

Haven't bought a new action cam since Go Pro Hero 4. Now I am looking to buy a new action Camera and Insta360 Ace Pro seems like the one to go for.
Great time to be a vlogger. Cheap mirrorless cameras like the fuji xs2 now have amazing autofocus like much more expensive Sony cameras (though Sony has a good cheap model too) the insta 360 go 2 is awesome with the detachable screen and magnets etc. and the dji little gimble camera is pretty awesome too.

I would love and appreciate to see how well the Ace Pro does in Low Light and night scenes!!! I was considering add the Pocket 3 in addition to my DJI ACTION 3 for my low light footage, but with the Ace Pro being Water proof, this maybe a a better choice... I still are stunned by my One R and it’s fullfill my needs. No one needs more than 4K if you don’t have a gigantic screen over 75 inch on the wall.

Very interesting comparison, they all deliver quite good videos, but GoPro is truly at a loss when it's getting dark. Guess the edge over OA 4 is really coming in when you take all the smart features of the ace pro into account. Watched quite a few reviews so far and like how objective you are. Will definetly tend for the ace pro for my christmas present for now! Thank you for helping with the purchasing decision
DJI is an improved gopro. and Insta is an enhanced DJI.

The low light feature is the best out of the bunch super useful
My understanding is that the DJI mic 2 is also compatible with via Bluetooth. This camera seems to address many of the annoyances I have with the other action cams: i.e. low light performance, pause feature, overheating, etc. I hope they can add 10 bit via firmware update. Thank you, that’s the best review I’ve seen so far on this new camera. These AI features are looking pretty interesting, but me as a Motovlogger will stick to DJI. Way smaller, lighter and when it comes to usability absolutely top of the best. And my OA3 has never let me down! 👍

Awesome Review, This is probably been asked a thousand times, but In Your Opinion does the Ace Pro "pro" features match up to the Osmo 4? Also if you take the low light test out, would you say the video is equal on both cameras?

How is it compared with the D-Log 10 Bit for color grading from Action 4? Is it possible to Edit 8K video in the app? I don't get it why is not at least 1 inch sensor, consideran that couple of years ago, insta 360 launched the One R 1 inch sensor Leica.

Thanks for this review. Was really interested in the camera until I saw all the accessories you need to buy...Adapter for audio, $39 for the quick release mount etc. Also the lens cover not removable is a big negative.

Can you pair a phone with the Insta to get the GPS overlay options?
I made it my goal to try and be more active and travel more next year. I'm still on the fence whether to get an action camera or a vlogging camera like the dji pocket 3. But as for actions cameras, I think DJI or insta360 seems to be on the top of the list. Gopro seems to be lagging behind this generation. Although, I've seen some good deals going on right now for gopro 12 pack (349.99). Seems pretty tempting

It's a nice product from insta360, still doesn't beat the lowlight performance of the DJI Pocket 3 but the pocket is not supposed to be an action cam.
Image quality wise is the similar to the pocket 3, or is the pocket 3 way better?
I would go for One RS with 1" sensor since I dont need extreme slow motion but better picture quality

What would be cool is to use the DJI Mic 2 from the pocket 3 creator combo with this via Bluetooth. I've been able to pair the Mic 2 to my Insta360 X3 and was freaken blown away because I got clean audio while the X3 was out on my 270Pro Backpack S 270cm selfie stick

My understanding is that only the Ace pro has the AI features and it also has the better Leica lens.
It’s about time action camera manufacturers incorporated Bluetooth options for mics.
I have a Bluetooth headset in my motorcycle helmet and would be so easy to use that instead of having to purchase and add extra attachments just to plug in a 2.5mm jack. Or at the very least design the things with a jack input.
Can you shoot in flat mode when shooting in 4k 30fps or 24fps, instead of HDR? Can you disengage HDR mode?

Does it have the 30 minute video limit/gap that other Insta360 cameras have?
Does it use/share the same app as the X3 & RS One 1-inch?
Does the flip screen lock down? So at 55mph it will not rip it off. No reviewer has said so yet but you all show the flip screen that "appears"" to have latch buttons (surprised this is not noted in reviews).
Can the Ace Pro run/operate off of USB while charging?
Micro SD card? And maximum size?

Yes, the screen locks down!
Lens Cover NOT removable, so if it gets scratched it stays that way and your footage will suffer unless you send it for specialist repair to get the cover replaced. As an action camera a big flaw
is the new insta 360, able to prerecord like 30 or 60 seconds before you actually hit record like on the dji and gopro?
How do you think it would handle being on the outside of an aircraft? I feel like the screen would get ripped off in the wind. My plane cruises at 220km/hr.

i watched like 5 videos and yours was the first to mention the audio adapter worked for external mics (the insta website doesn't even mention it) - until your initial review I was thinking no way - but now I'm back on board.

Does the 360 pro work with gopro mounting accessories?
Does it show the preview on the front screen when you don't have the back screen flipped ?
Does it have water repellent coating on its lens, like gopro has? It looks a great camera except the missing 10 bit,the non removable lens protector glass and probably this missing coating if it is missing from it.
Maybe the next generation will have these as well.
Added note, the DJI wireless mic2 works with the Insta360 via an airpod connection. It's hard now for me to justify keeping my barely used dji mic system. Also, the AI full features are available until January 1, 2024. After that, it's a limited-use option. I don't know why influencers don't call this out. You will see this notice on the insta360 app on your phone.

GP12 introduced BT microphones. But from what I hear, people have been having issues with it.

The Insta 360 is just interesting, but I didn’t like the external mic system compared to GoPro media mod.
Nothing mention about removable/ replaceable lens screen/cover, I smell GoPro 8 in a smart suit.
I already order mine, most action cams out there always lacked something important (GoPro a lot of things, DJI a flip screen and even better low light performance), now there is no big reason for me not to buy one: flip screen, very good low light performance, HDR (even if it's only at 8 bit). What is lacking: log 10 bit profile, HLG HDR profile. Do you know if ANY bluetooth phones are compatible or only Apple's Airpods?
Considering I can keep track of my image from my phone with the Action 4, the flip screen is not a big deal to me at all.
Do Insta360 cameras have timecode?
Things to remember but not said in this review (it's great btw) is that the Insta360 app works with nearly all of their products so far. I have a One X and that is still supported after 5 years and 2 extra models. Not all features work with the One X but if you have another product that helps you a lot. Compared to GoPro for example I have found Insta360 much better at support. And then I have got to say that DJI are good but why oh why do they not have their companion app on the Play store for Android? That just sucks big time

Also, the camera doesn’t have the AI warp feature because the processor isn’t good enough and is entirely app based. You also have to pay for it after 3 months, but they dont put that in the ad

Ive asked gopro for pause video/fast charge for years. Im curios what the low light looks like after dark on the beech. 50 bucks more not a deal breaker. No need for large sd cards or extra batteries. Better outdoor cloudy day pictures. no brainer
