I doubt that will happen. Mistakes are made everywhere, but it'd be pretty safe to say that if a steering or suspension bolt was not put in, they'd know about it before the car was sent to the dealership.
He said they put them back with in the build processes ? So basically all the V8 models would get retro fitted with those parts? Which is why the last holden's would have basically 2nd hand parts put on them, but you would not know which parts they are mainly because of the parts have the holden stickers on them, thus not knowing where the part came from other than it was made in SA and date and time of manufacture ?
back in the day they where shipped as a complete statesmans and calais and many many parts were sold off to other companies such as motorfield and eagle, even dealers used to buy the parts to recondition used cars. Used to be able to buy crate motors, diffs, brake sets, wheels, brake pads by the hundred. Around 2010 Holden got there greedy little mits all over it and decided to run their own surplus program.. They charged dealers x3 as much for technically used parts and they got stuck with destroying most of it as part of obsolescence (written off)
pafalzon in the begining of the video it shows you the cars they get from Holden. You can tell by the front bumper that it is a evoke. They also build the engines at HSV.
Mr Mot It's not that. The evoke body is the shape of a regular commodore. So Holden gave HSV the evoke body's because they are the low class car. Type in on Google a 2014 Holden commodore evoke and the cars on google will have the exact same bumpers, front ends, back ends and tail lamps as the evokes.
just why they couldn't put the HSV suspension at Elizabeth ??? oh well I suppose it means work for some guys at HSV..although probly that all adds to the price tag ;/
@@man.i.literally.failed6772 If suspension is/was fitted at Elizabeth, it wouldnt have been a 100% HSV-built car. Thats what the customers were paying for: HSV components fitted and installed by HSV using HSV quality control. And the other reason not built in Adelaide because it started off as a Melbourne business and obviously wanted to stay a Melb business.
Another Australian manufacturing enterprise basically gone, what are we doing to our industries, these companies including Holden & Toyota are 99.999% run by Australians. It wasn’t GM & Toyota that pulled the plug . It was a government that reneged on comittments made to them by the Australian Government. For goodness sake both companies were spending big time & we all know what happened with our then treasurer having some fun almost laughing in parliament.
I was considering buying one of these, but now I am not so sure. My biggest issue with HSV is that it is just a Commodore with some different parts. Now looking at this I see how much that really is the case. Kind of takes the desire out of the car because it just doesn't seem as special anymore. A GTR is a GTR. It is it's own beast. It's not a pulsar with a quicker motor, better suspension and a different interior and bodystyling. What a let down.
+Chris Fowler commodores have MRC3? HSV EDI? AP racing brakes? when you get down to it they are 2 different cars.. no one his trying to hide the fact that its a Holden
+KillEmAllWithMetal Wow, someone needs to get their meds checked lol. What's your problem you goose? It's a logical statement. You are a different breed of special. What part of Tasmania are you from?
Why is there so much removal of Holden parts to only just replace with HSV parts? Seems like a very unnecessary step to the process, time consuming and expensive as far as labour is concerned (and I guess also for just having those extra parts available as stock at Holden). Is there an express reason why HSV must receive 'roadworthy' vehicles? Why not send them over without the tail lights, bumpers, etc?
Because these cars don't just go to Holden HSV in vic. These cars can go any where in the world ready to be re branded as any GM brand. With out changing the process of how its done. I own a Holden WM2 caprice as a P plater and they send my car of the same model over seas as chev SS caprice.
Agreed, it seems like a massive waste of man hours and materials to have to spend time pulling parts off a chassis. Not only does that cost HSV to pull the parts off, but someone at Holden spent time putting them on making the cost even higher. Sure over the course of 1 car it might not be much but over 20 thousands cars or so it is a massive waste of time and money that all make its way to the customers pocket. I personally can't wait until they shut all this down and they bring the Camaro and Corvette to Australia.
What a waste of production time stripping parts and refitting, its no wonder companies go under like this with inefficient processes, they could really learn something from how Germany streamline production lines and automate.
Valid point but these cars come ready made from the plant in Adelaide with the plastic bodykits and taillights (that need removing/replacing anyways) - if they try and bypass fitting these components at the initial assembly line, then a lot of alarms along the line have to be manually bypassed making the original process inefficient. The core of the car + its engine is already fitted there + HSV customers would want customised mods to their car.
HSV is better than AMG, I'm yet to see an A250 without an AMG kit on it. Holden dealers cant sell a Redline with HSV wheels or body kit. You buy a HSV, you get a HSV. Can't fake it like AMG and M.
What is going on with this guy's accent? He sounds like he was born in South Africa of Scottish/Welsh parents and moved to Oz after about age 7. Is this a regional accent that I've just missed over the years?

+Aiden Powell Do you know anything about product manufacturing? It is cheaper for Holden to ship those Commodores with no change to design as it doesn't interrupt their production line and process. Any altercations to the design and product assembly process WILL cost more money for HSV (as Holden aren't going to take the hit for a process HSV wants), which will in turn cost the CONSUMER more money as HSV have to make up that money from somewhere. How is that so hard to understand? Don't go criticising a successful business when you have absolutely no idea of what you're talking about, especially as HSV is still continuing on after the Holden factory closes to work on other Holdens that are imported into the country.
+ParkerYoungOfficial I can critise whatever i like. I'm entitled to an opinion, i watched the video and thought the process was a fucking stupid one. I recommend to anyone who has the opportunity to tour the factory, do it it will be the time of your life!

they should put the LSA motors into the ss and ssv .hmm but then people wouldnt wanna buy the gts anymore ?

+jonmitch2 More pricey I suppose. Titanium internals will set you back quite a bit of coin. I see the GTS-R spec will have the LS9 in it.
I'd go try and re-engineer the front of the Grange buy putting Gen-F R8 bumpers, lights bonnet, boot lid etc to make it look better.
LOL 4:51 has a kid reefin on a bolt......yeah I really want my $100k car worked on by a kid!
