Gas is real good against bots. Its like a better smoke with damage overtime and causes enemies to attack each other. If you use the armor you can just lurk in the poison mist. Its kinda stealthy.
I've got to admit, I was impressed with the performance of gas strikes on both bots and bugs. Especially when you get a mixed group with one medium/heavy unit and light support, by the time it clears, the heavy is all that's left usually. Haven't tried the gas resistance gear yet, but I can see the value in being able to run through the gas.
Really looking forward to the forever winter. I know its absolutely busted with jank gameplay and will get "Mixed" ratings on steam. But I still really really like it. I don't know why I am so interested in it. Especially the lore. I am supporting it.
A $27 bet on them actually getting the game to release? Hell, I bet $60 back in the day to get a 'founders pack' for Warframe. Best bet I ever made. Sign me the feth up!
Helldivers is not gonna change engines. Unless they have been working on that for years now, that is just utter delusion. You can't just rip out the foundation of a game and replace it with something else. Try doing that with a home and you'll start to understand what you're signing up for if you try that. Edit: Also, you're guys' take on where AI is going to help in game development is quite spot on. There will be instances where companies will try to replace what they can with AI and they will get a reality check, but, as you said, building out backdrops, sky boxes, general terrain, that's gonna be done by AI in the future. And thank go it is, because that's some of the most tedious work, that costs a lot of money, and in most cases is not as scrutinized by players makes that a worthwhile expense. The theme and feeling of the surroundings have to match the rest and that's really all these things have to do.
@@Canis.Lupus.Arctos Fair. City Skylines 2 for example used AI to create models of the people walking around. But, what I wanted to highlight is, that big companies will try to replace as much with AI as they can and fail, then go back to how it is now.

I think it's relevant to remember that the Devs for Forever Winter weren't even intending to release the game in it's current state, they wanted to wait for a lot longer, but after the beta there was a lot of fan clamor for some kind of early access or additional betas or whatever. They probably should not have caved to the pressure and should have stuck to their original time table, or at *most* they could have released some kind of free demo (which they are talking about doing anyway), but whatever, here we are. My point being this game like super duper puts the "early" in early access - not like a lot of early access titles that are practically already finished products and just use early access as a shield to hide behind. It probably is genuinely in a rough state, but that's because it by the original timeline it still has a lot of time to cook left ahead of it. I am hoping that this will ultimately be good for the game insomuch as the early and constant fan feedback should help them steer it in the right direction.
I mean, looking at it? This is an Alpha. It's not feature complete, and I accept that. But the issues are as you point out, a lot of people aren't going to understand that, and you only get out there to the public once.
The whole "making games has become more expensive" is gaslighting. The biggest reason the games have such a huge "development" cost is because of marketing. ESPECIALLY from the larger companies. a game costs "50million" to make they spent roughly 35-40 million on marketing alone.
@@hollow_dbd it's the companies gaslighting trying to come up with reasons to justify increases in price to customers while delievering less content. Sony pushed the idea they must raise prices for their games to 70 USD for games on Ps5 (despite PC/Xbox/Switch not increasing the price) in the last couple years and used that as an excuse, yet many companies aren't doing it. It's been said everytime the companies try to justify an price increase. "inflation" is another term they like to throw around but the people who actually follow it shake their head and say no because you're also making more profits too even with no change price. It's a "gaslight" to the customers to try and cover up corporate greed.
@@SaltyNerdGaming That's honestly one of the things that make the whole situation even more WTF?! It's almost as if they were just throwing money at things that had no actual influence on the game itself. Perhaps they were blowing money on online infrastructure to support the game (that is a HUGE cost) yet never listened to actual feedback about the game itself. In other words Sony likely "put the cart before the horse". Now if that's true Sony could possibly recoup some of the ridiculous loss using that with other online services/games, but it's unlikely considering the mindset their leadership seems to have.
Well that sounds like my kind of a channel - beer and games. As for Forever Winter, one of the early reviewers called it an Anti Shooter and I think it's one of the most accurate titles here

Is a more than fair assessment, my rule of thumb is when in doubt just hold... As I said B4 the worst thing that can happen is folks buying into it w/ the wrong expectations (I literally rolled my eyes when asmongold made a vid on it lol). Most folks have the wrong take about early access, is better to think of it as an "investment" the idea is profit but there are risks involved, some more than others... Great show!!! Love this... P.S.: Space Marine 2 blows.. other games out of water!!! Is as fun as HD2, but is a different kind of game and not for everyone, truth be told... XD
I just hope in The Forever Winter, it would be possible to be "that guy" who they said we were not. I want it to be possible to actually be a threat to the factions.
Yeah it be nice to be that guy but means it gets harder if you do as they will come more after you. Some enjoy playing like that. So risk and reward maybe depending on play styles?
For whatever you might take from it: I like the idea that if you scavenge, gather resources and fight smart? You can be 'that guy' for a single engagement. As an old game put it 'Fight like hyenas until you can flight like Lions.' But, I want that to have three caveats to it. First, that ain't free and you know it. But sometimes you treat yourself, right? Second, it should never get to the point you can consistently be 'that guy', it should always be risky even if you've got the gear, the positioning and the drop on them. Third, it should be something you do because you choose to take the risk for thrills... or because the rewards can bail you out of a death spiral. (At least if they insist on the whole water death situation.) When sure death is the alternative, and odds of survival are worth taking.
Devs have confirmed a DEMO is coming soon - so if anyone is on the fence hold out the month or so and play it for yourselves. Personally im jumping in purely for the tone of the game. The environments look insane. I love the aesthetics.
Forever Winter looks like it's going to be great. It's a cheap, one-time purchase with no gameplay microtransactions. solely PvE in a world filled with PvPvE trash, and it looks damn unique. I'll definitely support them. Who cares if it's a bit jank at launch?
This is the early access to a hardcore extraction shooter. It gonna be a raw experience. If it survives long enough to get some dev time itll smooth over. Its better than AAA titles that pretend its not early access.
Not quite, but a LOT of it is like that. The Breaker still has it's increased recoil, but the Arc Thrower has 5 meters more range than it used to have. (Fryin' gunships is a thing now.) there's a lot of things that are flat out better than launch. (Have you tried the basic Liberator? The glow up surprised me.) Heck, look at the 500 KG being an actual bomb now! Yet I can't say it's not back to that spirit. We're glass fragile, hell I feel more fragile now than before armor worked in the first place! But we've got the cannon to do work.

I completely understand why someone wouldn't want to get this game right now but because they've been so upfront about the state of the game and very open I'm down to support the devs. Besides I'm here less for the gameplay and more here for the artistic vision. Though I understand most people aren't down for that.
I am definitely gonna get the forever winter! I like what I have seen if early gameplay, and I want to support the devs, and I want to be here as it grows
i fall in the middle on this game, i am 100 percent going to get it but i also agree that right now there are a few problems with the game and it is 100 percent valid to show concern, i think if you believe that people shouldn't be criticizing it then your 100 percent wrong. the Devs WANT criticism thats how they make the game better, if you don't criticize it and then it comes out with features you hate or gameplay you dislike then is the devs fault or yours, they cant read our minds so its on us to tell them what we want. but this criticism HAS TO BE VALID, not bigfry complaining about how you cant switch shoulders, the dev already mention that they are trying to implement it but its not just a switch you can click to enable it so there's no point in complaining that its not there yet.
I think that you need to be less judgmental because this is very early access made to get good feedback and bug reports but I will say 27$ for a barebones mostly unfinished version of the game is too high for what it is at least in its current state.
@@SaltyNerdGaming I’m not entirely sure myself should’ve been advertised as more of a late beta than a early access title Either way 27$ isn’t great for a game that seems so unfinished 5-10$ would be much more reasonable.
there's no chance my 3gb of vram will handle the 8 Forever Winter needs, and given my pc build (in pieces next to me) is currently trying to run a 13th gen intel chip (look into them, turns a pc into a lemon), I might be able to play this game in a few years when I save up AGAIN.
I like the asethics and art syle of The Forever Winter. I was contemplating purchasing at EA release, but now not so sure. Yes it looks rough but what turns me off is the Death by water mechanic. If I cant play for 3 weeks I dont want to die when not playing and loose all assets and equipment. Especially when it looks hard enough to find water.

I agree that hd2 doesn’t really need more weapons. Maybe attachments that make them respond different. However possible that would be. Different scopes, better handling less range, whatever anyone thinks would be cool really. Weapon parts that offer different handling capabilities or something. Im sure more weapons are in store once illuminate arrive and we steal their tech. Skins are cool, glowing parts and pieces. Customization of armor and weapons. Helmets and capes with different buffs/debuffs. Basically like, pick this, that gets better, these get a little worse.
Breaking News from an Asmond Gold video, Concord cost 400 MILLION DOLLARS! Probably more. As for the New Warbond from Helldivers, Ehhhh its alright. I think people just expecting the gas to kill things like it used to. Its a "interesting" is "undercooked" sidegrade. And The Stim pistol apperently kinda sucks but I don't care.
I have been looking forward to The Forever Winter ever since I heard about it. I won't be able to give them my money fast enough on the 24th just on the hope that they finish the game. I don't care what condition it's in now. The Dev's were very up front about it being an early work in process, so buyer be ware. If you go into this thinking it's 90% finished then you are just an idiot.
the video gamer article was a bit clickbait, but they did directly link the Arrowhead studios "now hiring" position on their website hiring someone with UE5 experience and experience in transitioning assets to UE5. so it was only 90% clickbait.
TFW, in every one of the videos I saw not a single focused down on a single enemy. It was always 1v1 with beginner gear. I think that people, noobs & casuals alike, are thinking "I can superhero this shit!" then whine when they get wrecked. I believe there is a problem with their expectations and misunderstanding. That this is being build to be difficult & demanding. And not just a Destiny (insert Casual game here) stroll through.
I'm exited as fuck to buy the Forever Winter because the setting is straight from my nightmares. I'm terrified to hear that the game is absoultely clunky and years from the release nevertheless I just want to support the dev theam because we have similar vision

"In Helldivers you go out there to pick a fight." Na Bro, that shit gets you whacked on higher difficulties. Fighting isn't the goal of Helldivers, you're literally a space-paratrooper sent behind enemy lines to complete objectives. Killing enemies is only a side-effect of that. I see players all the time try to aggro everything on the map, and then complain online that the game is too hard. 😂

So ive gotten to that point where You ask why youd have to pay to play a unfinished game and etc. The reason is, the Devs arent AAA theyre litterally a small group of people this game is their passion project. The early Footage youve seen is a SUPER early build and not the EA build. Also The devs originally DIDNT want to release this game as AE right now but the community asked for it and so the devs are releasing it as EA and have said "its gonna be super janky" because this isnt polished steel. Hell its still Being Forged jnto a iron bar. Also on the spawning in and killing you thing is somwthing i THINK i know who youre talking about. Bigfry played the gsme terribly and didnt take his time, in his video he didnt see the dudes standing to his left and looted a crate DESPITE hearing radio chatter from soldiers. This game is meant to be played like youre not the MC, youre some poor civilian whos having to survive and take things slow. Ill say they'll probably, improve the combat as ive seen its tough. Either way it looks cool and a final note is i THINK the dev team is made up of 20 people and most of them are concept artists and stuff. Sorry if this reads like shit im on mobile and am a dumbass
I will only buy The Forever Winter *after* it's worth the asking price. If you support games based on the future promises they make in their promotional advertisements, then you're incentivizing devs to put more effort into their marketing than in the game itself. If all they need to sell you is a good sounding plan, then they never have a reason to actually deliver it, because they already have your money, and it's infinitely easier to promise the moon than it is to actually build it. Being their first game, there's no evidence that this company is even capable of delivering on their promises.
Complaining that a game in super early release isn’t polished enough is like complaining the cake you put in the oven 5 minutes ago isnt done yet. Yeah it’s janky, it’s in Beta.
Game dev here... no, Doom was not a "2D image" frame by frame. It was a 3D engine. Also you are showing the wrong doom, it was Doom 1, and it ran at a grand total of... 20fps. The ORIGINAL doom at 20fps, and it lacked the physics etc. It was bare bones basic because of how dogshit it is. I don't even need to start about how ridiculous "We'll have a city on the moon in 20 years!" Is, do I? For the past 50 years what have we heard about flying cars? Vacuum tube trains? Daily space flight tourism? Musk, the moron he is, stated we would have a sustained colony on mars by 2016, then 2017, then 2018, and then 2020... now he is promising it by 2030. Technological innovations and shifts have slowed drastically, AI is basically going to burst and flatten in the next few years when people start realising it has very stark limitations to what it can actually do.

I've got to admit, I was impressed with the performance of gas strikes on both bots and bugs. Haven't tried the gas resistance gear yet, but I can see the value in being able to run through the gas.

Thanks for the comment!

Forever winter is exactly the game I want to support, simple, beautiful, old school and nice devs.
we are excited to support the game too.
ESPECIALLY from the larger companies. a game costs "50million" to make they spent roughly 35-40 million on marketing alone.
lol, y’know that’s something that should be incorporated into a budget right?
Who in the world is that gaslighting
Word has it Concord is up to 400Mill in total cost. HOW?
The new gas grenade is awesome, threw one into a hunter patrol and they all killed each other.

Yeah man, Forever Winter!
XD
Salty you need to play vampire survivers !!
He’s going too. I’ll make sure of it. I want him to live stream it. Yet another Zombie Survivor and DRG Survivor as well.
(At least if they insist on the whole water death situation.)
When sure death is the alternative, and odds of survival are worth taking.
Looks like eventually you can upgrade to the point of being a solid threat to your enemies.

We will be grabbing a copy of the game too! looking forward to checking it out.
This is the early access to a hardcore extraction shooter. It gonna be a raw experience. If it survives long enough to get some dev time itll smooth over. Its better than AAA titles that pretend its not early access.
Its not an update that entirely changed the game, its an update that basically REVERTED the game back to launch stats
