I've got 800 hours in the game. For every one instance of AH dropping the ball, there are ten instances of them creating something new and innovative. Without a doubt, game of the year.
I really liked the community's inability/reluctants to get anti tank mines. We failed the first two MOs, but the best part was next we were given an MO where we had to choose taking a planet and getting the anti tank mines or go to a different planet to save sick children in a hospital (for functionally no reward), and how the community rallied to save the children. It was so cool seeing the comics, memes, and videos people made during and after we saved the kids, AH donating money to a children's hospital. I think we failed one more MO to get the mines and then AH gave us a very difficult MO and said if you fail the MO you get the mines, and a good chunk of the community really wanted to complete the MO so we wouldn't get the mines because at that point it was kind of a joke that we kept not getting the anti tank mines and that it would be funny to just keep not getting the mines.
I don’t think you guys talked about it, but I really liked the save the kids mission and how they donated to the real life charity. I thought tht was really cool. Still upset we didn’t get a special cape for tht.
My favourite part of the year was discovering the HD2 was going to be released, getting a preorder in and spreading Managed Democracy with all the other Divers o7
In the older patches, if you catch one of the smaller bugs by themselves but don't shoot right away, after a few secs they'll stand on their 2 back legs and blurt out something that almost sounds like 'mercy', but this was so rare. One guy did catch this on video and its up on reddit somewhere. Edit: If there will be a 4th faction, I don't want it to be cyborgs. I want it to be human rebels trying to fight against Super Earth's government and they'd hit and run like the squids but they only drop on planets where the most number of helldivers are and are actively sabotaging them/keeping them from finishing objectives in the operation. Basically like invaders from Souls games.

Dutch is right on point about the social aspect of this game, I'm excited whenever other players engage with voice chat, shout for assistance, roleplay, the comradery and tomfoolery.
I forget his name but Arrowhead also lost the guy who understood how the engine worked the most, I imagine that’s why they had so many issues releasing patches after he left.
I think my favorite part of the game was when we had the bot front split in two and they introduced the orbital cannon missions just seeing the whole side red then zooming in and seeing this path we cut through from Meissa to Aesir pass and having 10 planets cut off just the scramble to take advantage just push push push

What if the Minigun was just a support weapon like the autocannon!?!? BUT if you carry both pieces of the weapon, it will slow you down/affect stamina! BUT if you have a teammate carry the backpack, and then set it down by your feet to feed you the rounds as a Stationary Weapon, that could work right!?! How is it that we can carry an Auto-"Cannon" and shoot that but can't get a Minigun?!?!?! This is 2184!!!
Current Engine limitation. Weapons can’t occupy both slots (backpack and arms). The auto cannon is one weapon and one backpack. Not a weapon-backpack combo like the minigun would be if that makes any sense. CEO did say they were looking into it

Memes and online community is great. Surprises. Gameplay is great. You can leave and come back and get right back in. Hugs. Cinematic moments. Arrowhead is great. Lore we build ourselves. Game is great. I think they are ramping up. I think they hit thier stride next year.
The best part about this game is how easy it is to roleplay and how awesome it is to see most of the comments about this game from the perspective of a helldiver.
The TCS campaign on Merida was the Best. I started playing during the deployment of the towers. Came back to take them down. Deployed the dark fluid, made the black hole. That was the best time I ever had playing this game.
Correct me if I'm wrong but while it's not mandated it's "highly encouraged". The quote I got from an Irishman friend is "Those Sweds take their summer vacation seriously"
@@Fingnonner Short answer - Yes. We / most Swedes have 4 weeks summer vacation yes. At high paying jobs it's possible to go for more vacation time instead of salary increase but 4 weeks vacation per year is the standard. The length of swedes vacations has grown every time I've heard an american HD- content creator talk about it though :)
I'm with Dutch in the social aspect of the game. I was zoned out of the social aspect of gaming, so i was playing mostly single player, except for some games with irl friends. So imagine my shock when i started to watch those clips of this incredible positive community that remainded my of the old days, the beginings of online gaming. The other thing that sold me into the game was the developers, ArrowHead made the remake of Gauntled, one of my favorite nes games and they keep what made it fun.
Really cool to get the perspective of a new player here, guys 👍 he had good questions and was just nice to hear the thoughts and takes of a new player to the game. Great episode.
Game Released, The battle for the Creek, Mechs released, Bot front wiped outt for a week then come back with Factory Striders, PSN Sony, Fight for the Children or the Tank Mines, Bug Towers + Gunships and Shrieckers appear, Merida Blackhole, Austomatons got Orbital Cannons, Commando released then forced us to get Anti Tank Mines, Nerf Divers + AH Vacation followed by update of disappointment + Gloom, Buff Divers, DSS starts > Planet selected and 3 - 4 Months before it gets released, Squids and we're here. From Memory i think it was this time line?

22:10 Swedish (Socialist Capitalist) got it good with Red days plus 25 workdays of vacation. We make less money then US but with vacation days and pretty much free schooling and healthcare we got it pretty sweet.... Is it true US only get 10 days vacation per year?? Absolutely NOTHING was "slid in there" in an update. It was clearly written on the Steam page that at some point PSN would be required. People's failure to read is not Arrowhead's or Sony's problem
Guys I enjoy your podcast but I have to say partnering up with cloudplays is maybe not the best move. Prove me wrong about it but he is a clickbait content producer. I watch him early on and he got so repetitive.

@@finncampbell4662 you could use a belt, in all cases. It would kinda be a band aid fix but would work (assuming this is the only relevant limitation)
