I’ve got a 3yr old I’ve basically adopted and my first son arriving in January. My 3 year old loves “playing” with me while I play and can’t wait to raise my boy to fight for freedom.
Might I recommend the joys of earth defense force 6. It’s cheesy and fun, you shoot large bugs and aliens, the weapons are bombastic and over the top. Graphics look like an arcade game but don’t let that fool you. Fencer and air raider are my favorite classes. I’m a dad of three boys btw. I play Helldivers, EDF 6, space marine, & I rotate through armored core 6, dragons dogma 2, black myth wukong, and risk of rain 2. As much as I love Helldivers, as a dad, there are times you gotta step away and leave folks hanging and it’s nice to have games on your rotation that you can pause. I wish I had more Helldivers operations where I could play quicker missions (purely due to life).
I'm 41 years old, just dropped my daughter off at gynmastics lessons, and threw my son and his friend outside to drink from the hose. I'm ready to respawn.
I watched several Twitch Streamers play Space Marine 2, and it all operates really really well. Good note is that not every download is going to be the same, and someone could end up downloading the game slightly screwed up in some way. Also some systems end up having issues running certain games at times, and that could just be the user and not the game itself.
I can relate to you guys. I'm a busy dad who's only 26 years old and I'm passionate about gaming. I agree with you on how some games are overpriced, especially when you look at Nintendo games. It's crazy that a game from 2019 is still selling for 50 bucks at the Nintendo Shop. I just subscribe to you guys, I appreciate the honest opinions 🔥
Talking about Early Access games, I immediately think of Baldur’s Gate 3. This was in “Early Access” for ages & ages. Probably the best case of Early Access being used to make a game awesome imo. I’m sure there’s others, but man this worked.
I absolutely loved Sniper Elite 4 & 5. I played SE3 and felt claustrophobic compared to the later games. 4 & 5 have huge maps you can get satisfying longshots in. Its even better with a second player being a spotter and sniper buddy for dual kills. each level is a great way to kill an hour with a friend.
DUTCH BUTTERS is the best intro i have ever heard. Its so catchy, even when he goes live im looking forward to the intro lol. Pus im a dad diver i got 3 mini divers who watch me play nearly every time, but i need more dads on my squad so we can deal with these Automation Abominations.
I'm definitely getting up there. I've been gaming since Atari and space invaders. But cheap fun little game would definitely be Vampire survivors. Played EQ and then WoW. Love the podcast subscribed.
Totally agree with the per hour cost theory, as a cheap gamer its long been my thoughts as well. I love tight, shorter experiences too, but ill play them on a subscription. No way I'm paying full price
Not sure if it’s your type of games guys but Disco Elysium is on sale now on Steam. Amazing game. I heard the company that bought out the og devs suck but the game still rocks.
You guys need to try "Kenshi." It's got the top down view like Diablo, but the gameplay is like Fallout had a baby with The Sims. But the #1 reason why I love this game so much is because it is PISS PANTS HILARIOUS! The game does NOT CARE that you exist. So things are happening whether you're there or not. THEREFORE, you might march into town one day to sell equipment, and an ostrich creature will be randomly terrorizing the town and killing guards. Thieves will also attempt to rob stores, and get their asses handed to them via the guards. The world just FEELS ALIVE while you're interacting with it, and when you get involved, it adds another layer to the humor. I don't think this game is intentionally funny, the situations are just rib clenching laughs non-stop!
The early access of FW was launched because the already have a passionate comunity on discord begging to play the game as soon as posible, they only launched it because gamers gave the according responde to their statements and world they created. How long should it be? Don't know, but many of us will have hundreds of hours before release and give our feeback so that the game release as the treasure in the game library that every gamer worth of it's salt deserves.
Dang... I guess, that I'll need to adopt one, just to enjoy the same vibes, I guess. XD Btw, another banger, from the 'good old times', would be, - VLADIK BRUTAL. Gives out those Half-Life 1-2 vibes. ))
to the early access question, I say it should be minimum 90% completed. What Steam calls "early access" is alpha/beta testing. what Space Marine 2 did is actually Early Access. If it stays in that status longer then 6 months Steam should do a full refund to all who purchased.
Man, that's a bummer about your Hellblade 2 experience. I remember you mentioning how excited you were to play it and then you basically had the same thing to say as far as how disappointing it is that I had heard from other people. No Man's Sky is definitely one of the biggest comebacks in gaming history and I have so much respect for that little team at Hello Games. I also picked up Kingdom Come for the same price awhile back but it was right when Helldivers 2 had come out so I didn't want to put any time toward it. I plan to check it out soon though. Space Marine 2 is visually stunning and seems to have a good story, and maybe it's because I haven't played in a squad yet, but I don't see it replacing Helldivers 2 for me. I'll be playing it for sure. But I'm not getting the same feels as what Helldivers 2 does. Not trying to compare the games here either I think they have different goals ultimately, just saying Helldivers 2 is still giving me that adrenaline kick and I haven't quite felt it with SM2 just yet..
it's only disappointing since the combat just feels less than the original and there's a lot of talking/exposition with other characters. The reveal trailer also looked like senua was going to be leading a army but that's simply not the case, the world looks wide open but you're forced on a singular path and the puzzles aren't nearly as good as the first game was. Ther story is good but I still perfer the first, but alas it's a different narrative now of Senua's journey. Still a beaitful game but I'm glad I played it off gamepass and not pay 60 for it.
Early access with the forever winter standards? For sure, you should watch all of the content of Fun Dog studios, if you make a reacción to the announcement anda trailers, Iwould watch the s out of that.
I just wish they would make games like they used too. Focus groups get the game for free in beta. NDA's to stop leaks and whatever. Hell, you could even make it subscription based since they're all greedy assholes (15 bucks a month). Give the players a month of early access to test out stability and whatnot. And a 50% testers discount when the game releases. If the game was shit for them they won't buy it. If it was good, once the NDA is lifted it'll build a TON of hype. But releasing these damn games at 100$ for "early" access is bullshit when we all know it is basically beta testing before release.
Black Flag is the best Assassin's creed game. Warhammer 40k is meh. Red Dead Redemption is the greatest game in History. Looking forward to Delta Force.
Dad gamers unite!
indeed...
Putting the infant to sleep, I have exactly 52 minutes!
For the Emperor!
The forever winter Will be a blast, you'll be making a lot of videos about it enjoying it for sure!
Fun Dog studios will rock the industry!
Cant wait to check it out. a new kind of game for me but this thing looks very unique.
this show was really good, i like the close to 1hs format.
Noted. Thanks!
32:50 well if the scopes were lined up properly lmao
Good 1st Episode. I too am a Gamer Dad and HD2 hooked me as well. Looking forward to seeing what you guys recommend since I play both PS5 & Xbox X/S.

Stick around it’s only going to get better.
The forever winter looks dope!
agreed. Dope AF
Yall made it to 3k!!! Congratulations 🎉
All thanks to you awesome people.
HD2 scratches the everyday soldier itch while space marine 2 scratches the super soldier itch
It scratches something, thats for sure.
Siiiick!
Looking forward to this every week!

One of us.
Current dad gamer rotation is to bounce between Helldivers 2 and Space Marine 2
Sounds just like us.
@@joea12 I find Space Marines more about reaction and reflex...where I prefer strategic and range option games...cuz I'M OLD!!

Valheim is a good example of a great early access experience

looking to get it at some point, worried how many players are there though.

If helldivers 2 update isn’t good on the 17th the game will probably die and that makes me so sad.
Very sad indeed. Rooting for it to succeed
I think it's going to bounce back but probably not for a few months, don't think this next patch will be anything groundbreaking
Hades was developed in early access, and it feels so good to play
