It's been an honestly lifechanging experience to get to talk and work with the developers at Fun Dog, and I hope that I've translated their vision to you well. Being able to share a universe I find beautiful and inspiring with others who share my same tastes is the thing I love doing most in the world, and you all have made that possible in a way I never would have expected, so thank you all for showing up for these pieces, regardless of their subject matter. Forever Winter will be, like I said in a prior video, like the Heavy Metal Magazine on the middle of the stack in the bottom shelf in the library; it's the Dragon's Heaven OVA, or Venus Wars, or the Nausicaa Manga, or World War Robot; something many people won't be into or might not get . I don't talk passionately about games because I think they'll blow up or be popular; the media I love HITS for me in some way, and I make these videos to try and explain why. Not everything I like will be for everyone - But if it IS for you, you're the homie. Hope you've enjoyed these videos, and I'm excited to keep making them. Cheers Riloe
I really want you to know how much it means to me to see videos like yours man, full of genuine passion about something and focused on that one thing. These videos are themselves art, and they make me share your passion for this game. I never would have heard about it if it wasn't for stumbling across your first video on it, nor do i think i would've ended up subscribing to your channel despite your other content before it being very good in its own right, i just wouldn't have gotten over the default apathy of browsing the internet these days. I'm really glad i did, you're one of my favorite creators i've seen in a long time, keep it up man, and always stay true to yourself.
I'd love to see some, most, or all of this stuff turned into miniatures, or even better, model kits. 1:60 scale in particular, because lord knows I wanna drop some of these horrors in front of D&D players...
On the topic of the game's understated humor: That diagram of Toothy's biofuel bags is interesting because it describes the process in which prisoners are captured and digested by the mech for fuel, only for that little notice to appear in the bottom right corner, "Plastic bags are dangerous! To avoid danger of suffocation, do keep this away from children!" Like HUH.
Kai has a supremely dark sense of humor, haha. The markings on the Hind are great; "Stand here for post-life processing", and "we dance under phosphorous skies" on the tail
The Cow Balloon section really reminded me of Ace Combat 7. As you're destroying a giant superweapon or drones that threaten the security of the world your AWACS will be there talking about food, your buddy will be thinking about returning home and telling his son about his war stories, and more small details like that all over the game.
the way the ai's interact with war kinda reminds be of the builders in BLAME! and how they eventually lost sight of their intended purpose. the ai's only continue waging war in a way that only makes sense algorithmically based on flawed and corrupted data, the same way the builders slowly started creating less and less human structures.
@@Zazzlebips Any of Tsutomu Nihei's works will give you those vibes. Try: - Knights of Sidonia (completed - also has an anime!) - Aposimz (you might be able to also find it under the name Ningyou no Kuni, which is the prequel chapter to Aposimz) - Biomega (completed) - Abara (completed) There are others, but I'll let you discover them on your own.
@@Zazzlebips not really anything quite like it, unfortunately. one of a kind goat in what it does. closest I can think of off the top of my head is Gantz in terms of the feelings and vibe that i personally got out of it, but it's not even that similar or close.
Honestly, if they did a lore book with the art and graphics when the game gets into 1.0 I'd definitely buy that. Hopefully this shit goes well and they can expand this universe in the future, can't wait to see what they do, the story and lore is insane. it's like warhammer 40k, but we are just at the beginning of the 20 year journey, so hyped.
@@agentoranj5858 The game was confirmed to require a super computer to run, so for me with my crappy old pc that I can't afford to replace any time soon I'd be very happy with an artbook yeah. I just love this world they created even if I can't directly become a part of it.
I love the tone of this game. Its dark and gritty but there's an underline of hope. That maybe if you keep pushing and keep trying you'll see some kind of peace again. Its an endearment of human spirit.
Absolutely, minor stuff like your main upgrades(at least the ones I saw in my try out test run) being stuff that helps people have some peace and comfort down below, the fact that you have the donation box to help other scavs and thier groups survive, hell if I remeber a short they released was the scav characters saving a abandoned mech pilot It's a bleak and cruel world, but it's one that people have worked hard to survive and to maybe one day see through, till then they will keep on surviving and fighting where they have to
It's really interesting how this new era of the Post-Apocalypse is different from the ones that emerged from the old USSR cold-war era culture (wasteland, fallout, mad max, dr strangelove, red dawn, terminator etc), now we have this new cold-war with China which (for better or worse) evokes a terrifying vision of a world wide collapse and a new distinct form of the post-apocalypse, I wonder what else emerges from this troubling era.
That small bit of information at 23:13-23:26 has to be the best part of this video. I can't even begin to imagine how cool it must be for you to have some of your art used by people you've admired for so long. But maybe im just thinking that because im also an art nerd
found the artwork in game as a recruit. The name and description is great. "R" CULTIST Description: THE Cultist. even the price is pretty hefty with 10x the average of the other recruits.
4:27 this stood out to me the most. Imagine seeing drones soar overhead, shooting them down and taking their cargo without any thought. Only to unknowingly seal the fate of some platoon of soldiers.
Things must have gotten REALLY bad for Europa to have been starving before the war, since the faction would likely have the breadbaskets of Western Europe and North America in their territory.
imagine how devastated the climate and terrain have to be for the entire north and south america and western europe to be running out of food compared to eastern europe and asia or maybe they're both running out of food since eurasia is overpopulated?
@@ovencake523eurasia is definitely running off synthetic food to supply their huge population while europa is a smaller population with supplies to eat but just not much for everyone to go around
I really like the section mentioning the humanity and humor even in this dark world. I've often said the most important part of a dark piece of media is a little bit of light to latch onto. It can't be misery 100% all the time. It's why in certain works like Berserk, my favorite moments are the quiet ones like the characters walking on the beach or looking at the stars. Or in 40k, the Orks are absolute goofballs a lot of the time (while still being quite scary other times). You just need time to breathe in these kinds of worlds.
Berserk does it really well. Darkness is the absence of light but to really understand how dark it is you need the light as a contrast. Also rly cool that Berserk has some actual underlying hope beneath.
in 40k i wouldn't use the orks as an example lmao yeah from our POW they are the best in the setting, but for the people of the imperium they are a nightmare. thats why beside the orks the salamenders are my other loved faction. I love Warhammer and how violent it is, but all the kind gesture that happen is what make me love the setting. I hope for Forever Winter to have the same vibe, because it already caught me
I was watching a guy talk about his experience volunteering in Ukraine and he mentioned with all the drones and ways you can instantly be annihilated on the battlefield, your best chance at survival is to look unimportant as a target to drone operators who are guiding artillery/missile strikes and various forms of drones. You have to appear not worth the munitions. It reminded me of this game.
That is very interesting. It makes me wonder how armies will look in the future if war breaks out between superpowers. I hope it never does because it will basically mean the end of how civilzation is even supposed to function.
True, good sci-fi has always and ever been an examination of the human condition under the lens of a future setting that’s based on the trends of the tech and culture of the current age. It’s taking what we have _now_ and saying “what happens to us if we can push this just a little bit further than currently possible?” The Forever Winter is a fantastic addition to the sci-fi genre which, unfortunately, means it will inevitably be a little prophetic in time.
Haven't seen plenty of drone footage, it's almost impossible to tell people apart. How do you look unimportant, when you wear camos and carry a rifle to someone who wants to stop people like that? You casually light a cigarette and pretend you are just larping? I also dunno what that's supposed to tell people... can you change your outfit to look unimportant in this game?!?
I have instantly got respect for the team for creating a dark future world that doesn't go full on nihilism and cynicism like 40K nor embracing comedy like Fallout or The Wasteland. Just because the world is dying and horrible things are happening don't mean **you** should be a horrible person, lack any emotions and simple desires. Neither people around you should stop being humans.
Frankly, this vision that insists humans will always be selfish in extreme situations is contradicted by our very history of community-driven existence. The bleak cynicism of humans always turning on each other feels more unrealistic than many "magic" plot devices those settings use. How even after so much indoctrination, WWI soldiers still crossed the trenches during Christmas to mingle. How many franchises ignore this particular feature of humans, it just makes the setting feel less real. This, on the other hand, is the opposite. Even on such a bleak world, humanity still shines through.
@@TangiersIntrigue I prefer stories that are more of a mixed bag like this, sure people do horrible thing but at least you can make a choice for peace.
@@rickfastly2671 My point is, we already have enough bleakness and cynicism in the world, and a lot of media about it. I feel it paints a somewhat false picture of what humanity is as a whole, and I feel their approach is refreshing. Being able to make your own decisions, some of them good, instead of being forced into grimdark decisions just to suit the aesthetics is kinda uncommon.
The fact that the devs give players guns and the ability to shoot things while telling players, "you're not that guy," I can't wait for the first players to be that guy and just dominate the battlefield on their own. Like how Subnautica devs wanted it to be a pacifist game with no guns, players just stasis rifled and knifed everything that moved.
This may sound weird but here me out, all of those different concepts mashed together really reminds me of playing with your toys as a kid. Random assortments of Plastic soldiers in environments made out of Lego and cardboard fighting against transformers and Bionicle Rahi, while Star Wars starfighters fly overhead. Basically you make up your own rules and Story as to how all these different elements fit together. This game, to me, takes this Idea of mashing up whatever cool things you want, dialed up to 11 and through an interesting new perspective.
you just unlocked a core memory, I completely forgot I used to do that.. GI joes fighting dinosaurs and power rangers, with random Transformers taking out huge armies, only for Batman to drop out the sky and drop kick a Hulk Hogan riding a T-rex with mounted guns from the GI joes.
This game looks a lot like a sci-fi setting I'm working on. To make a very long story short, humanity expanded across the stars in a distant future, bringing other species into their union and crushing those who stood against them. But they were eventually tricked by a species of aliens and s massive civil war erupted. The Terran Union was split into five nations but in the middle of them is the Black Zone, a region of space filled with worlds thought dead or lost. One of the planets named Erra was a major manufacturing world and the sight of a major battle between the loyalists and the traitors. Both are still the case as the battle never ended. Their space ships were either destroyed or they left and no one could reach them. They were forgotten but they never forgot the war. So they're still fighting decades after the war actually ended. Love the concept. Great work
im very hyped for those "helping people out" missions also congrats on getting your art actually put into the game man that is insane another edit but the most depressing part about this setting to me is the fact theres so much space debris now that we (probably) cant go to space anymore. idk that part just hits the hardest to me
@@agentoranj5858Let me tell you... You won't get far if you don't extract, you WILL get overwhelmed, either by bullets, or Cyborgs, maybe cannon fire from tanks or Mechs
Funny thing. The first thing I find myself interested in with a new shooter is "What do the guns look like." But i've shot past caring about that a looooooooooong time ago because everything else about Forever Winter is just so captivating. It feels kinda Tsutomu Nihei-esque.
agreed. this game has such a characteristic look and feel that you expect most guns to just be AK variants because that's what will still survive in large numbers after a nuclear world war lile here. and thats what we see alot of characters carrying. ahah of course there are others but this is the kinda game i can seemyself playing with just one random AK. especially since a good scav run will be one where i don't need to shoot at all 😅
Genuine question: maybe we just play different games, but I can't imagine caring at all what the guns look like when choosing whether to play something. Don't you care about the mechanics, the systems? The unique gimmicks the game has, the monitization or lack of? Would you refuse to play, for example, cruelty squad, because all the guns are not "good looking" by regular standards?
@@fluffywolfo3663 hm, well sorry then. I just personally cannot imagine caring about that (especially not first), so was interested in why someone would think it's so important.
More along the lines of MechWarrior, Armored Core, and GTFO, the art book idea he was talking about is WAY before 40k hit mainstream (even though 40k been around for 40 years). Armored Core doesn't shy away from war crimes as well as MechWarrior, if looked through the right lense.
So the best part of this in my opinion it’s how real the humor is, as someone that served some situations you get in are so surreal you can’t help but laugh.
My buddy got shot through the leg by a sniper in the tall grass at our TCP. We reacted and waited for medevac. One of my other buddies started yelling to me from another turret to my rear while I watched the tall grass from mine with the 240B. I looked back towards him, past the red smoke billowing near my wounded buddy and the medics covering on the bank of a canal, and he was waving at me. He had eaten two eye holes and one mouth hole into the weird bread slice from an MRE and was wearing it like a mask. He yelled “check it out dude haha!” and started darting his tongue through the mouth hole. During an engagement with a sniper and overwatch for a medevac. I laughed not because it was really funny, more because I honestly couldn’t tell if I was tripping balls or not anymore. It’s one of the most vivid memories I have of all that.
@@SnoopRocket I still miss my 249. You know the special delight everyone gets from watching the under-tall carry their body weight a few times over. I remember loading up our humvee in Kuwait for the drive to Baghdad. I swear there were foot deep holes in the sand for every step I took. One of my vivid's would be the chunk of roof missing one morning from the building we slept in at our FOB. Hooray for the mortar shell not detonating! That was also an excuse to chat up our EOD guys who were fucking wildly hilarious Australians, so bonus there. I'm glad you made it back, battle.
I really hope they add those more "humanitarian" missions as time goes on, particularly if you get to see the people your helping. Perhaps even some way to more organically interact with the soldiers you encounter, like being able to patch up a wounded solider you come across on the battlefield and carry them to safety. Could even develop into a more fleshed out bartering system, where you could trade supplies like alcohol, cigarettes and food to soldiers in exchange for safe passage (I.E the don't shoot you unless you shoot at them or start looting their stuff/friends corpses).
Right now they are very basic and gameified (press E on specific spot type beat) but that mission where you bring a wounded guy some cigs is in the game. While the gameplay is super simplistic, there's this authentically human and sincere tone to the quests and NPC dialogue that sells them to me, and they're my favorite quests in the game.
Getting your own character inside a cool game is something most people tend to wish for, glad to know your wish for this came true Riloe, hope we can get more info and videos related to Forever Winter's lore.
I think what The Forever Winter encapsulates is exactly what I always love seeing in war movies. It's not about the action or violence, it's not about good vs evil, hell it's not even about the war itself. It's about the people who fight those wars. It's about the humanity of warfare. _THAT_ is what I love about war movies. It's their ability to take such a complicated and nuanced subject matter, boil it down to a handful of moments that you can't easily explain with words. But when you watch them, everything just clicks and you go, " _Oh_ , I get it now." Hacksaw Ridge, Saving Private Ryan, The Hurt Locker, just to name a few. It's all the human moments in those movies where if you blink, you'll miss it.
Jarhead is my favorite movie for that. No spoilers incase you somehow haven't seen it, (if you like war movies this one is my personal favorite) but if you have seen it yk what I'm saying
The description of "living artbook" is insanely accurate. Damn near every frame of gameplay footage I've seen looks like it came from one. One hell of a job on the devs part, I cannot express how much I'm looking forwards to the full release.
I just stumbled on this video. As someone who always wanted to be a concept artist, and almost gave up on it, the final message of your video lighted up my passion again!
As someone who has been playing this game since its early access launch earlier this week…the atmosphere is gripping. Hearing bullets whiz overhead as I’m trying to loot a container or some poor soldiers corpse for food and ammo is really a different feeling when you’re not “That Guy”. From soldiers running up on you thinking you’re the enemy then only to be saved by cybernetic zombies throw themselves at said soldiers giving you a split second chance to escape. My gameplay style in most games was to always pick a fight but in this game, I’m more hesitant and more times than not the only times I’ve really engaged in combat was either due to a quest requirement to eliminate X amount of a factions forces or self defense. I’ve done scav runs so efficiently that I didn’t have to fire a single round, just looted as much as I could and ran for the extraction point. I can’t wait for this game to progress in the future and to see the final end product which is a game that immerses me into the role of a survivor just trying to see another day
This is for me one of your best vids so far. You’re skript writing was perfect to tell the story of this games world. All the cuts, visuals and the spoken word were on point, even the pauses. Well done mate, keep up the nice work. It’s enriching for all of us.
In love with the details about the tank turrets mirroring the skulls on pikes and the angled spikes defending against air dropped cyborgs instead of their ancient counterparts defending against horse-mounted calvary. Something so wild about that kind of parallel
That character you made is rad af and it's nuts how much of the little details Fun Dog managed to bring to the model itself. You're an inspiration, Riloe. Ngl I'm feeling very seen with the last couple of videos. Gonna find the old sketchbooks I have, take a week off work, and let my mind roam.
You're not a journalist, but you are hell of a writer. Your description of the world was pure art. So, theoretically we should be able to use the uevr injector to run this in 3d on a headset. And you bet your ass I will be doing just that. I want to watch a mech tower over me in full scale.
12:28 BLACKLIGHT RETRIBUTION MENTIONED! Truly one of the most underrated shooters that ever came out of the 2010's, and its aesthetic really paved the groundwork for future sci-fi military art. One of my favorite games of all time.
Great video. I have yet to play but have been enjoying the art and gameplay I see. You dived into what makes it work showing the dev’s curated ingredients, flavors and tastes. The last few minutes won me over for a sub. Congratulations on seeing your work included. And yes we need to share more what we like rather than spend time on what we don’t. Great job!
I can't remeber the last time i had THIS MUCH FUN watching someone break down the creative process of a project. Just the ability and flexibility they had to kitbash, the thought and through planning for every possible scale i just LOVE IT. God I gotta get a better computer to actually play this
As a longtime Planetside 2 veteran, its heartening to see some tiny hints of that game in the design language of this one. Max-like armored suits, infantry, and the even bigger scale tickle something in my brain, and I look forward to playing this thing!
@@Sunglassed_badassyoure not gonna regret it. just be aware for genres like shooters it can take a bit to transition from controller to m&k. i remember back when destiny 2 came to pc after 3 years on console, it took me a couple months to stop using a controller haha. youll be better off for it though. mouse and keyboard for games like these is really something special.
I swear, if that games hud wasn't so bad I'd actually play it still. Setting up custom matches with no HUD was the most fun I ever had, it looks so good when you don't have 20 icons covering what feels 40% of the screen
Your videos have made me insanely hyped for a game that would have never otherwise been on my radar. I had seen some trailers and random coverage of this game and i presumed it would be something similar to Once Human. But after learning about the game mechanics and backstory from your videos, i have hopes for this to be on my list of all time greats. One if those games where i will be checking in on and playing for years to come.
Damn man that closing remark hit home. In a world where I feel I have no actionable way of influencing it for the better there is always the hope of hanging onto a dream; in a world that is full of so much reductive miasma you can add something positive, never give up.
Honestly I feel if everyone chilled out and stepped back for a moment things would get better, but sadly many people have do much to gain from what’s going on.
the second video you made on the forever winter was the one that got me hooked on this game and thank you so much for making these videos because ironically enough the game about war and how we destroy ourselves with it made me more hopeful for the creations that will be made and as bad as war is I always saw it as a great concept to make the most disgustingly incredible games that blew me away, and I love atmosphere in games I am 99% sure i have spent at least 100 hours staring at the sky in into the radius, however I really wanted to be a content creator more to share what i love with so many people it was a dream that was eventually lost, so if you at all ever read this i just want to say thank you.
I’m not as deep as you are with the design stuff, but I am extremely excited for this game because my favorite thing is being a mercenary in low worlds, from what a witchers day to day is to the stalker anomaly gameplay loop without the story, just doing jobs and living free outside it
By far the best essay I’ve seen on the background stuff, both lore-wise and in the art department. And cool to hear about the developers background too.
I subbed so hard after being about 20% of the way into this vid. Absolutely love this type of content. You do such a fantastic job of ‘wording’ into existence the ambiance/raw feel of this game. Please don’t stop making content man, you are doing exactly what you were meant to do, you’re too good to abandon this type of content.
the love and support and success these guys already are receiving is so fucking inspiring. its proof and reassurance that people who do have the bravery to break the mold in this not giving a fuck way, have their voices heard this loud and clear. their story is one that confirms my prior beliefs and hopes about my own project these guys deserve this support, and this channel is fucking awesome
This video in and of itself is a work of art and by the end through your storytelling, expression of your thoughts and feeling about your character being modeled into the game has evoked a viceral and deeply emotional response from me, ive been following the development of this game and i gotta say, god damn riloe this is exceptional
19:30 putting in these moments of fun not only makes everything feel more real and grounded, but also leads to the horrors on the battlefield feel even more horrific. If the people in there feel like actual people, you care way more about their suffering
So much art and lore... its amazing how they're able to blend so many styles and personalities together into this breath-taking aesthetic. Thank you Riloe for giving us such a deep look into this crazy game in such a well written way. I hope to create content in the same quality as you and the people at Fundog one day. The hype is unreal!!
Man, you sound a lot like what I'd expect the Curious Archive guy's little brother to sound like. In all seriousness though, this type of content (mini-documentary-things) is my favorite. Keep up the amazing work, and I hope to see more of you soon!
This is a brilliant video, thank you for talking about things you think are cool! Super excited to get home and play some more and see how the game develops.
i like being a middle man but i still think being a solider fighting in this war would be even better. but we would need a full on triple a team with triple a money to take this concept and expand it to being a soldier. because the game would be ten times bigger in scale if you were one of the soldiers or robot warriors
Regardless of how the gameplay side evolves, I have to give the highest praise to this team for creating one of the most visually interesting and memorable games I've ever played. Maybe it's nostolgia but I feel like you used to see a game like this every generation that stuck with you but it has been so long since I've played something that didn't feel derivative no matter how pretty it was. Nothing feels out of place, it all just fits so cohesively, and creates something unique that hits just right. There is something special here, I really look forward to seeing how this game develops.
I use to be enamored by this sort of art and 3d work when I was a teenager - Post Apocalyptic Near-Future/Sci-Fi art, Cyberpunk, Space, that stuff - I was extremely passionate about it. I eventually gave up on trying to be an artist, I had no education, no tools, and lost my drive. I've long since gained an education in a similar field and used it for modding games rather than what it was for (Game Development). Since I've been following TFW, and discovering more and more concept artists, I've found that burning passion again, and so desperately want to boot up Blender and get back to it, and create these things, illustrate my world, and the strong imagination I was given Thanks for covering TFW the way you have, it's been so inspiring.
Also, love the use of Halo music throughout the video, surprisingly fits pretty damn well with the themes of the games and the vibe of each point you were making while the respective tracks were playing
I found you because of your coverage of The Forever Winter and absolutely fell in love with your creative style. I don't normally leave comments but I just wanted to say keep it up, I really look forward to your posts. The story telling, analysis, and tone that you use is captivating.
Yo gratz,on ur guy getting added, thats so badass. Its little things like that that can really define who a developer is ss a unit and they sound absolutely top notch
I wonder why they went for third-person as the main viewpoint. I'd think first person view would be the go-to for a game this invested in atmosphere-building.
It’s a very art centric team, they probably wanted to put lots of focus on designs of the player characters since it’s what interested them. Personally I would’ve preferred first person though
I hope they release the art book or books alongside the game as something you can purchase. It would make them money and I myself would spend hours examining all the art for this project. EDIT: 23:37 DUDE THAT CHARACTER IS SO COOL AND YOUR ART IS AWESOME!!!
I adore that your vibe through this whole video is that you aren't the least bit objective and you wear it on your sleeve. Just loving all over this game, it's vibe, and style even though it's still being made, and just wanting everyone in the world who likes this kind of thing to find out about it. The wholesome message at the end is a nice cherry on top. Thank you.
It's been an honestly lifechanging experience to get to talk and work with the developers at Fun Dog, and I hope that I've translated their vision to you well.

No. Go back to your dungeon, weeb. This comment section is for people.
in 40k i wouldn't use the orks as an example lmao yeah from our POW they are the best in the setting, but for the people of the imperium they are a nightmare. thats why beside the orks the salamenders are my other loved faction. I love Warhammer and how violent it is, but all the kind gesture that happen is what make me love the setting. I hope for Forever Winter to have the same vibe, because it already caught me
Puck carrying the entire manga series on his tiny back
I was watching a guy talk about his experience volunteering in Ukraine and he mentioned with all the drones and ways you can instantly be annihilated on the battlefield, your best chance at survival is to look unimportant as a target to drone operators who are guiding artillery/missile strikes and various forms of drones. You have to appear not worth the munitions. It reminded me of this game.
That is supremely depressing, and it sucks how much this game which was initially conceived before any of that started predicted it so well.
That is very interesting. It makes me wonder how armies will look in the future if war breaks out between superpowers. I hope it never does because it will basically mean the end of how civilzation is even supposed to function.
They should add FPV's and AI drone swarms as a weather event, maybe FO units as an assassination target...
True, good sci-fi has always and ever been an examination of the human condition under the lens of a future setting that’s based on the trends of the tech and culture of the current age. It’s taking what we have _now_ and saying “what happens to us if we can push this just a little bit further than currently possible?”
The Forever Winter is a fantastic addition to the sci-fi genre which, unfortunately, means it will inevitably be a little prophetic in time.
@@TangiersIntrigue tbf in warhammer there are gods actively corrupting humans
Fallout isn't really comedy though imo. The settings are pretty comedic but the actual world isn't.

Dude. Your art is amazing and it so deserves to be in a game. Im sure the devs are grateful for such a cool concept
Hopefully all the systems that they added should make that playstyle impossible. Hopefully...

The Moment you showed the ingame model next to your concept art was so satisfing, especialy because i have seen them ingame. Just awsome, congrats!
Great work
im very hyped for those "helping people out" missions
also congrats on getting your art actually put into the game man that is insane
another edit but the most depressing part about this setting to me is the fact theres so much space debris now that we (probably) cant go to space anymore. idk that part just hits the hardest to me

agreed. this game has such a characteristic look and feel that you expect most guns to just be AK variants because that's what will still survive in large numbers after a nuclear world war lile here. and thats what we see alot of characters carrying. ahah of course there are others but this is the kinda game i can seemyself playing with just one random AK. especially since a good scav run will be one where i don't need to shoot at all 😅
@@soleenzo893 true kinda like stalker, or metro, where most guns look durable or cobbled together with what is on hand.
Genuine question: maybe we just play different games, but I can't imagine caring at all what the guns look like when choosing whether to play something. So the best part of this in my opinion it’s how real the humor is, as someone that served some situations you get in are so surreal you can’t help but laugh.
Battle Buddy named Sachs explained this with: "No, this is great. The shittier things get, the better our story later... assuming we survive." :D

So happy to see your character design getting added into the game! Never stop doing what you love, man :)
Thank you so much!!
They seem to be using Bethesda’s rules better than them:
“Keep it simple, stupid!”
Because Bethesda misunderstood their own rule and confused it to say "do not polish".
It just works.
Bethesda forget where the “stupid” part is placed in that line.
The KISS method easily outdates Bethesda.
No.
But when you watch them, everything just clicks and you go, " _Oh_ , I get it now."
Hacksaw Ridge, Saving Private Ryan, The Hurt Locker, just to name a few.
It's all the human moments in those movies where if you blink, you'll miss it.
War is a weird place where you can see both the absolute worst humanity has to offer while also seeing the pinnacle of humility.
Isn't that every FPS campaign with a war in existence?
Like, we never see the whole thing, but only the fraction our protagonist sees.

I can’t wait for this game to progress in the future and to see the final end product which is a game that immerses me into the role of a survivor just trying to see another day

i like being a middle man but i still think being a solider fighting in this war would be even better. but we would need a full on triple a team with triple a money to take this concept and expand it to being a soldier. because the game would be ten times bigger in scale if you were one of the soldiers or robot warriors
Since I've been following TFW, and discovering more and more concept artists, I've found that burning passion again, and so desperately want to boot up Blender and get back to it, and create these things, illustrate my world, and the strong imagination I was given
Thanks for covering TFW the way you have, it's been so inspiring.
New Riloe video on The Forever Winter and a new cinematic trailer? Today is a good day
Also, love the use of Halo music throughout the video, surprisingly fits pretty damn well with the themes of the games and the vibe of each point you were making while the respective tracks were playing
I found you because of your coverage of The Forever Winter and absolutely fell in love with your creative style. I don't normally leave comments but I just wanted to say keep it up, I really look forward to your posts. The story telling, analysis, and tone that you use is captivating.
Having your concept art inspired by your artistic heroes implemented into a game by those same artistic idols? That's absolutely magical man!
Yo gratz,on ur guy getting added, thats so badass. Its little things like that that can really define who a developer is ss a unit and they sound absolutely top notch

Boss, this was your project?!

Always has been.
@mutz6248 id love an option for both i like the third person but a option to switch if I feel like it would be great!
Switchable first and third person would be great, especially since aiming forces you into first person, would make shooting a bit less jarring
Don't see why they couldn't have toggle
@23:57 extremely important bit of information that bears repeating.
Congrats on the sketch bro. Immortalized in one of the dopest games ive played
The idea of mechs treating tank turrets like spiked heads is genus, the immediate fear and realization of scale is crazy.
I hope they release the art book or books alongside the game as something you can purchase. It would make them money and I myself would spend hours examining all the art for this project. EDIT: 23:37 DUDE THAT CHARACTER IS SO COOL AND YOUR ART IS AWESOME!!!
Real. I'd buy that art book in a heartbeat.
Thank you.
Thanks for your series on this game, I've invested. I'm new to gaming @ 56yo so the art style is smack bang in my 20's, love it.
Incredibly high quality video on a game that is almost everything that modern AAA games are not. Keep up the amazing work!
i need the lore/art book to this right fucken now
Bro is now basically a Forever Winter Ad channel lul

@@Fjdjfjsz92938I miss that side of TH-cam
