- BMW motorcycle GPS alternative using original "header"
Not wanting to purchase the BMW Garmin unit, happy with your own phone and all the apps and wanting a better way to mount. This worked through the case and no wires to help the ingress of water.

Wondering if the Garmin sat nav I use in the car would fit the cradle as about the same dimensions of the phone.
Hi - seems like slow wireless charger, did you had any issues draining while using it?

Working for F900XR? Maybe all bmw have same holder ?
I noticed those side wind deflectors and two screws that are holding them. Did you have to drill one of those holes on each side? My 2021 GS 40th Anniv. has only one screw there on top? Thank you for your reply
No wind deflectors pre-installed by BMW, I haven't changed anything

Nice video, cheers for that. Question though… does it charge the phone fast enough, or does your battery percentage drop at all whilst using your mobile for navigation? Ta.
It worked great with no issues of phone discharging. I have moved on to a quad lock fastened to a WunderLINQ but would now invest in a Carpuride or a chigee air-5
Hi David, thank you for This video! One question: does it connect to the bike and the app like the BMW connectedride cradle or it's just a wireless charger?
I don't understand! It's a charger, your phone has the app on it for BMW Connected and also any GPS apps you use
@@TrailBreak-Travel I was wondering whether this can be a perfect substitute of the BMW connectedride cradle because it's really similar looking.
The cradle was already on the bike when purchased. Meant to hold the BMW garmin GPS. All I did was add the wireless charger so I could use my phone in it.

I mounted my iphone 14 ProMax on a QuadLock with a vibration mount.. The problem is its not bright enough, and so is unusable on even cloudy days. I will try a shroud or sun visor, but may buckle and buy a Nav 6 or Zumo xt.
Odd, I have an 11 and use it here in the bright summer sun of GA USA. Could be brighter but certainly usable
what bar have you mounted in order to install the bmw gps preparations?

If the mount is the same as the GS it will. Alliexpress was the seller. Chinese import. Check out the app and just put in your bike model.
Any issue in phone's lenses / cameras due to vibration?
No issues now have a quad lock vibration damper

Really well. I put the volume control to the top right and have adjusted the rubber so that the pressure no longer reduces the volume. Simply pulled the rubber back on LHS folded it over and super glued basically in half. Just done around 600m in a week with no issues

Hi! Does the adapter protect your phone from vibration?
Never had any issues, there is a layer of rubber between phone and holder and phone in silicon case
Now well tested, unit works well and holds phone securely while charging.

Can you use the wonderwheel to control it?
Wonder wheel controls the tft, phone linked to tft so in effect yes. It just a wireless charger!
how is this working out for you I ordered the same unit. Is it working for you?
Works fine. I ended up peeling the rubber back on itself as it was squeezing the volume button. I position the volume button at the top and folded the rubber back on itself holding it in place with super glue

Cases can block the signal have you tried without case? I just replaced my case but was careful in choosing a new one
@@TrailBreak-Travel si. Tengo funda muy fina. Pero falla igual. Instale otro cargador qi, el que también tiene 2 usb. Este cargador tiene mas poder. Ninguno de los 2 cargadores me funcionan con carga rápida. Solo mantienen el nivel de bateria.
Not secure enough I think. Phone might fall out. Plus over time the vibrations may destroy your iPhone cameras. That’s a common issue with non-dampened phone mounts on motorcycles.
Mount is dampened it has soft rubber in back and mount is rubberized. I see a lot of Garmin units failing so you pay your money and take your choice.
