A glimpse into the upcoming "Behind-the-Scenes" for the short film Enzo: The Vitruvian Metahuman.
    Link to film: lnkd.in/ecTPBCFx
It would have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to have a person scanned, fully rigged at a level of quality only studios could afford, to be able to customize and breathe life into a digital human.
With the release of the Mesh to Metahuman plugin by 3Lateral and the Metahuman team at Epic Games, all this can be accomplished by artists, for free.
This has allowed me the opportunity to collaborate with talented 3D Character Artist Tomas Sackmann.
Using this plugin, we brought his sculpted-from-scratch character to life in Unreal Engine 5 in a Metahuman form. The Vitruvian Metahuman and structure were all created based on the original Vitruvian Man dimensions by Leonardo da Vinci.
The original character was created by Tomas during his course done for CGCircuit. Link to course: lnkd.in/e7cU2gND
The Vitruvian Structure built and rigged by 3D Artist Pixel Urge.
I combined motion capture data from Xsens, Manus and Faceware with the Live Client plugin by Glassbox Technologies to bring Enzo to life. All this being powered by a custom-tailored Puget Systems workstation with an NVIDIA RTXA6000.
All of the animations were fine-tuned entirely in Unreal with Control Rig.
Special thank you to Simon Kay (for motion capture feedback and support) Faceware (Pete Busch & Joshua Beaudry) Xsens (Remco Sikkema & Thomas Watabayashi) MANUS™ (Arsène van de Bilt) Glassbox Technologies (Norman Wang & Johannes Wilke) Puget Systems (Kelly Shipman) CGCircuit, LLC (Carlo & Roberto Sansonetti) Sergey Vereshchagin, Diana Diriwaechter for assisting in lighting (you are amazing) Emanuele Salvucci & Sean Spitzer (for everything related to Unreal) DJ TC Czar and Jonathan Winbush.
Music by Grant Newman from Epidemic Sound

how did you afford a workstation like that? did you save up from bartending, or somehow get funded? how after only a year playing with unreal are you collaborating with such epic creators? I'm really curious about how to accelerate entry into the field.

Status on the behind the scenes for the short? I really want to know the process of adding detail to the metahuman model and where to go between using detail already in the model or adding more.

This is amazing! I'm in awe of your work! I was wondering what the specs of your PC are and if you plan on releasing a tutorial on the whole process behind filming/creating Enzo? I'd be of great help to people new to the MetaHumans. I am currently trying to implement them in my PhD project and it's not as easy as it looks. Thanks again for sharing this with us! I'm looking forward to more videos from you!

Thank you so much! I am currently working on the behind the scenes but packing it with a ton of useful tips and tricks with workarounds for common obstacles people might be encountering ;) As far as computer specs, I am grateful to be using a custom Puget Systems workstation. I have a video in my playlist where I share the specs of it. Very cool you are implementing them in your PhD! Wow!!!

Thank you so much! The one I am wearing is the Mark IV HMC by Faceware. It is their pro head cam. I have also tested out their Indie HMC as well and they both work great! I started out with DSLR footage and the trick to that if you want to at least test the waters is dont move your head and get some good lighting. Use whatever you have when you get started and have some fun with it ;)

Who can help me animate my character that I created on Metahuman, how do I start and what are the next steps? And should I buy a GoPro camera? Who can answer me please?
