Hey Frank, just wanted to let you know that this song helped me climb out of depression. It was one of the few things that helped me to get outside each day. Thanks, you beautiful human.
"I'm building bonfires of my vanities and doubts to get warm just like everybody else" has to be one of my favourite lyrics ever. My God Frankie boy can write a tune!
This is beautiful. I saw him live a few years ago, during a hard time during my bachelor thesis and struggeling with false friends and colleagues. Now I 've returned to this song, because I'm struggeling with my master thesis, my plans for my own company and some low self esteem. Thank you Frank! I have the FT/HC - Symbol on my arm. I look at it from time to time and know, that I will make it. :) I am not designed to be alone!
Frank hits home with some very hard truths about the things i need to face in my life, in this one. It really is that easy though, with the correct attitude :)
I love boy of them as musicians and a couple of years ago Jamie was playing Cardiff on my friends (who’s also a fan) Birthday. Anyway, in between songs Jamie was shaking hands, talking to the front row, taking/making dedications so I worked my way to the front and asked Jamie to wish my friend a happy birthday and dedicate a song to him. So Jamie steps up to the mic and says ‘This next song is for Chez, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOTHER F*****!’ I was so happy, I got back to where I had left him and he’d gone outside for a cigarette. Still both great musicians Frank and Jamie.
If I don't listen to this song at least once a day, I have horrible day. My youngest daughter already has tickets for Franks's show in Jacksonville. She's a freshman at FSU in Tallahassee, which is less than 3 hours away. College would suck if all you came home from it was an education. I hope she has a great time!
Not sure this song was intended for six year olds but this song made me feel normal long before I even got my dyspraxia diagnosis. Trust me for someone who is very obviously different being told that you're essentially just like everybody else is the most amazing thing!
We only get like 20 sunny days a year here in England, the rest of them I feel obligated to hide indoors away from the rain and listen to Frank Turner. p.s - Like only 5 of those will probably be "lovely" sunny days
I was on the bus home (to probably watch some crap on tv or netflix) when this song came on my ipod, on shuffle and I pressed the bell to stop the bus and gave some friends who I haven't spoken to in a few months a call and we went out for a drink on a lovely sunny day..
love it! have had it goin round in my head for about a week love the bit that says " shes not as pretty as she thinks she is picture her after shes had kids" lol
i saw these at the grenday concert on the 16/06.2010 and they were amazing!!!!!especially Matt Nasir drinking beer when he wasnt playing!!!fit or what ;) amazing band :) gonna see them in december hopefully :)
@LiquidInertia suddenly it makes sense! thank you for clearing that up..i was distressed, thinking Frank wouldnt be the sort to use rhyme for the sake of it! :-)
It's about creating an image and defining oneself based on preconceived notions etc. putting up a front, someone is trying to shape his image and get him to be something other than just natural, just another person, a "regular guy"
knee related pain. i'm sorry but that popped up while i was listening to this and it just made me laugh so much. also why does my dad like frank turner but is at this very moment listening to classical music????? i mean ok but .......WTF????
@LAW12W I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's armour cuz the next line is "she'll never grow into herself" cuz she can't be who she is cuz the armour is keeping her in.
Lyrics You're not as messed up as you think you are Your self-absorption makes you messier. Just settle down and you would feel a whole lot better. Deep down you're just like everybody else. She's not as pretty as she thinks she is Just picture her after she's had kids. I bet she sits at home and listens to The Smiths. Deep down she's just like everybody else. So why are you sat at home? You're not designed to be alone. You just got used to saying No. So get up, get down and get outside. Because it's a lovely sunny day, And you hide yourself away. You've only got yourself to blame. Get Up, Get down and get outside. He's not as clever as he likes to think He's just ambitious with his arguing. He's crap at dancing, And he can't hold his drink. Deep down he's just like everybody else. I'm not as awesome as this song makes out- I'm angry, underweight and sketching out. I'm building bonfires of my vanities and doubts to get warm. Just like everybody else. So why are you sat at home? You're not designed to be alone. You just got used to saying No. So get up, get down and get outside. Because it's a lovely sunny day, And you hide yourself away. You've only got yourself to blame. Get Up, Get down and get outside. Amy thinks her life is lacking in drama. So she fell for horoscopes, faith-healing and Karma. She's so wrapped up in her invisible armour She'll never grow into herself. And it's ok thinking me and all my friends are just wasters. But all the same I can still see through her airs and graces. I guess she's scared her life won't leave any traces. Kind of like everyone else. And that's not the point anyways. Oh darling, I felt compelled to call you up to say: So why are you sat at home? You're not designed to be alone. You just got used to saying No. So get up, get down and get outside. Because it's a lovely sunny day, And you hide yourself away. You've only got yourself to blame. Get Up, Get down and get outside. Get Up, Get down and get outside. Get Up, Get down and get outside. Get Up, Get down and get outside. Get Up, Get down and get outside. Get Up, Get down and get outside.
I saw Frank perform this song yesterday in Copenhagen. He said he'd written it about a friends ex girlfriend. "She was the stupidest person I ever met" :D
Hey Frank, just wanted to let you know that this song helped me climb out of depression. It was one of the few things that helped me to get outside each day. Thanks, you beautiful human.

Ditto but it was get better for me :)
Why this guy isn't a lot more popular just blows me away. He is amazing!
Because he can't twerk and doesn't show his pum pum on TV
Listens to frank and is also a patriots fan. I think I love you
It's because he wouldn't kiss the calf's ass
Then.
Frank Turner has an amazing singing voice! I've traveled some distances to see him and the band and I'm 77, years old that is
Frank, I know you’ll never see this, but I want you to know this song helps me save my life every single day. Thank you for writing it.
"I'm building bonfires of my vanities and doubts to get warm just like everybody else" has to be one of my favourite lyrics ever. My God Frankie boy can write a tune!

Please tell me I'm not the only person who sings that Amy is wrapped up in an invisible llama.
Of course not :P
I CANT STOP HEARING IT LIKE THAT NOW! THANKS :|
where??
"shes so wrapped up in her invisible armour" doesnt sound like llama.
It does when he's singing it!
14 years and this song still goes hard
Frank hits home with some very hard truths about the things i need to face in my life, in this one. It really is that easy though, with the correct attitude :)

directed by jamie lenman.. one brilliant musician filming other brilliant musicians. perfection
I love boy of them as musicians and a couple of years ago Jamie was playing Cardiff on my friends (who’s also a fan) Birthday. I've had this CD playing in my truck for the last month and can't get enough. I love it; thank you!
Wow, 10 years. How have you been Terry?
Thanks for being so frank, Frank. Made me smile.
If I don't listen to this song at least once a day, I have horrible day. My youngest daughter already has tickets for Franks's show in Jacksonville. She's a freshman at FSU in Tallahassee, which is less than 3 hours away. College would suck if all you came home from it was an education. I hope she has a great time!
this song never fails to rescue me from depression
Ahhh Frank If Only You Hadn't Stormed Out And Listened To The Wise Mr Lenman You Could Be A Star haha!!! Genius Song With Two Brilliant Videos
Not sure this song was intended for six year olds but this song made me feel normal long before I even got my dyspraxia diagnosis. Trust me for someone who is very obviously different being told that you're essentially just like everybody else is the most amazing thing!
I'm dyspraxic too. Don't worry you'll be fine.
I am also dyspraxic, you will be fine :)
Cara White I'm also dyspraxic don't let it hold you back you'll be fine
The older video for this song is so much better but who doesn't love Jamie lenman, he's the coolest guy in the whole damn world!?!?
Classic. Can’t believe it’s been about 10 years. Missed him at the Warfield last month. Wifey had other plans
We only get like 20 sunny days a year here in England, the rest of them I feel obligated to hide indoors away from the rain and listen to Frank Turner.
p.s - Like only 5 of those will probably be "lovely" sunny days
Carlton Richards

I was on the bus home (to probably watch some crap on tv or netflix) when this song came on my ipod, on shuffle and I pressed the bell to stop the bus and gave some friends who I haven't spoken to in a few months a call and we went out for a drink on a lovely sunny day..
I'm really glad you've been getting so much MTV2 airplay man. About time they gave you more space again since the Million Dead days. Great stuff!
Thank you Frank for coming back to Dallas TEXAS on 2-27-2012.
I WILL BE THERE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I have listened to this for
the 1st and last time. Bring back Bragg
Closed ears to other music? Billy would disagree, they've played together, grow up.
First song I ever heard by Frank, was introduced to him by the makeup girl in the video haha. Seen him loads of times since, he's the best!
Haha. awesome. gotta love the Lenman and Frank Turner ofc =D
brilliant song and an awesome video!
O timbre vocal de Frank Turner já é fator suficiente de se prestar a atenção em sua música. Um pop descomplicado mas cheio de vitalidade.

Dang that was 12 years ago 🤯
Frank Turner come back to Dallas TEXAS...
I need you here...
Let's start a petition to have him change the lyrics to 'invisible llama' because that is, by more than a fair degree, more epic.
I laughed so much when Frank suddenly appeared with makeup on!!!!
Yeah and I sing Invisible Llama too ;-)
I went and saw these guys 16/6/2010 at the Greenday concert and they were really good, first time I'd ever heard of them as well
i saw these at the grenday concert on the 16/06.2010 and they were amazing!!!!!especially Matt Nasir drinking beer when he wasnt playing!!!fit or what ;)

This is potentially the most honest song I have ever heard.
This song just brings me back to when I was a depressed teenager whose parents didn't understand me
Great new video and still a great song.
@LiquidInertia suddenly it makes sense! thank you for clearing that up..i was distressed, thinking Frank wouldnt be the sort to use rhyme for the sake of it! :-)

I'll be there on the 19th as well!! gonna be gooood; where are people sitting/ standing?
It's about creating an image and defining oneself based on preconceived notions etc. putting up a front, someone is trying to shape his image and get him to be something other than just natural, just another person, a "regular guy"
absolutely fantastic song
everything about it is quality
You were awesome at reading festival!!!!!!
FT is the man. A true wessex boy. Ampshire all the way.

I LOVE JAMIE!!!
Nice INWT poster in the background
SPOONS!
@aKeckers1 It's actually "armour", unless that was sarcasm in which case you already know ;D
But "llama" is so much more amusing.
Whata tune this was
knee related pain. i'm sorry but that popped up while i was listening to this and it just made me laugh so much. also why does my dad like frank turner but is at this very moment listening to classical music????? i mean ok but .......WTF????

FT with no (fewer) tatts...weird...
Love this song and this dude...awesome sauce!
Watching this man in Belfast soon. Can't fucking wait.
@LAW12W I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's armour cuz the next line is "she'll never grow into herself" cuz she can't be who she is cuz the armour is keeping her in.
what does it say when i hear "she's so wrapped up in her invisible lama"
He's actually saying invisible armour. When I first heard this is was thinking , "What? Invisible llama? "
Bunnyunny Sniffsniff You've ruined everything.
+Aidan Miller I'm with you on this, I heard llama straight away
You've ruined this song for me. I cannot listen to it without hearing lama, even if I try. I don't think being a fan of Dan and Phil helps...
I want an invisible llama!
Lyrics

Amy thinks her life is lacking in drama.
So she fell for horoscopes, faith-healing and Karma.
She's so wrapped up in her invisible armour
She'll never grow into herself.
And it's ok thinking me and all my friends are just wasters.
But all the same I can still see through her airs and graces.
I guess she's scared her life won't leave any traces.
Kind of like everyone else.
And that's not the point anyways.
Oh darling,
I felt compelled to call you up to say:
So why are you sat at home?
You're not designed to be alone.
You just got used to saying No.
So get up, get down and get outside.
Because it's a lovely sunny day,
And you hide yourself away.
You've only got yourself to blame.
Get Up, Get down and get outside.
Get Up, Get down and get outside.
Get Up, Get down and get outside.
Get Up, Get down and get outside.
Get Up, Get down and get outside.
Get Up, Get down and get outside.

This song may or may not be reason I'm hungover this morning
In 2020, this song is suddenly terrible advice. Who was to know?
underated comment
8 months later still here...
@ Now nearly April 2021
2 years to stop the spread
Actually turned out it was good advice! Outdoors is way safer. Shows how little we knew in the early days of the pandemic.
@cosmicretribution omg I thought that too but didn't think to look up the lyrics xD Thanks for correcting me :L Xx
@chavkill2 No, no sir. Frank Turner wasn't with Green Day. It's Green Day being with Frank Turner.
this guy's awesome!
Frank Turner speaks the truth. This is what punk music is about.
Frankie...Thanks!
